I like the spoilers, but I’m afraid of a smart lock from an unknown brand. If it’s not great/tested quality and it craps out and my stuff is then stuck locked, it would be a real pain to find some bolt cutters somewhere. lol

I’m feeling bad about this box.

The light, I can’t find that brand but similar ones on poshmark and Amazon are $35 & $37 but I’m sure Breo will say theirs is worth a lot more. And I don’t need it because I have a $300 one (gifted to me) four times the size of this one.

The lock I have no use for so I googled to price it for swapping and again, I can’t find the brand to give me the Retail value.

I’ve been getting Breo since their 3rd box and the pattern I’ve noticed is: one really great item, a great item and then filler.

If these two are the great and really great items, all I have to look forward to is filler….

On a positive note for those considering, the light therapy does work for my Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Not sure of the efficacy of this particular lamp, but lamps do work for SAD in my experience. Though if you don’t need the lock and are short on funds, get a very similar one on Amazon for $37.

I’d love to swap for the lock. I will check if it’s listed yet

Does anyone know what is the value of these 2 spoilers?

Kate

I’m wondering that myself. I tried googling the lock (“smart loq” is what I googled because that’s what MSA called it) and I couldn’t find ANYTHING.

I already have a light! So would be happy to swap that out for something once the box arrives

This box always has things in it that I didn’t know I needed until I read MSA.

I don’t really need these items. 🙁 I already subscribed, so I hope the other items are better. I was hoping the Fall box would be good like the previous Fall boxes. The light therapy lamp looks cheap. I see other versions out there that looks better in quality.

Hello!
So is the artificial light different than a regular lamp?
I’m interested in it just wasn’t sure if there is a huge difference or if anyone had used it do you like it better than a desk lamp?

Thank you!!

I would not recommend the therapy light as a regular desk lamp. It’s not recommended for over an hour per sitting and does not produce what I’d call task lighting as it’s meant to help combat Seasonal Affective Disorder. That said, my partner found it helpful when moving from the constant sunshine that is FL to WA state’s winter season.

hmmmm…. As someone who just bought a little cheap happy light from Amazon, this is tempting…

I bought a blue light when I worked in a windowless inner office. I hated coming into the office in the dark and then leaving in the evenings in the dark. The blue light was small and expensive but it really did help in the winter. Now I WFH full time with my office facing a window so this isn’t something I need but I think it’s a great addition to the box and I’m sure it will swap quickly.

I live about close to Eugene Oregon, and I get it. Seasonal affective disorder is the pitts, especially after the excitement of the holidays. Nothing but weeks of dreary, dark days to look forward to before spring. I don’t subscribe to this box, but this is one the few spoilers that make me want to. 👍

Lex

Do you like it there? Would you advise someone to move there? Is there a different city you think would be better? We were looking at Salem but there’s nothing tying us to any area and I’ve never even been to OR.

Lex

I know I should cancel because this is the absolute last thing I need. I suffer from depression already I live in a place where it is extremely sunny all the time but I’ve always loved the idea of living somewhere more dreary and will be possibly moving to Oregon in the next year. I can’t bring myself to cancel though so I hope the rest of the spoilers are amazing.

Same!

I canceled my sub after the last box but I actually like these spoilers a lot. I purchased a similar light for my son who’s heading off the Oregon for college. It was highly recommended by other parents due to the long dreary winters in Eugene. I’m sure we all could use a “happy” light these days.

Heidi

Yep, I got one after my first winter in OR, and it makes a huge difference!

Kay

I don’t get it…

Joy-Not the Other One

Hi Kay! Do you mean you don’t get what the light is for? Light therapy is a way to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and certain other conditions by exposure to artificial light. SAD is a type of depression that occurs at a certain time each year, usually in the fall or winter.

During light therapy, you sit or work near a device called a light therapy box. The box gives off bright light that mimics natural outdoor light.

Light therapy is thought to affect brain chemicals linked to mood and sleep, easing SAD symptoms. Using a light therapy box may also help with other types of depression, sleep disorders and other conditions. Light therapy is also known as bright light therapy or phototherapy.

A lot of people find this helpful. Hope this helps to explain. Thanks!
