Stitch Fix Kids August 2020 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids delivery, we received this cute sticker sheet along with a note about some back to school looks. They also provide an envelope with a prepaid shipping label for easy returns and exchanges.

This is the invoice that was sent in the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $194, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $125.50. That's a savings of $68.50 on this Fix!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. Livi's stylist is Kristy and this is our second time having a fix styled by her. I love how cute her note to my daughter was!

Atorina Ruffle Brushed Faux Wrap Dress by Chenault Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress is so cute with the faux wrap style and all of the ruffles. It is made from a super soft brushed knit so it's really comfortable as well. While it fit her nicely, it was a little bit short for her. This also feels like a very summery dress and with there only being a month left in the summer, I don't think she would get much use out of it since this might not be quite as cute with leggings underneath!

Chaya Brushed Ruffle Skater Dress by Chenault Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress is the same brand as the one above so the fit is the same, which was too short. I really loved this color and the style, although Liv wasn't quite as into it since she prefers pink! This dress does have pockets, which is such a fun feature and it is made of the same soft, comfortable knit as the first dress. This would be a cute fall dress, although I'm not sure how this one would look with leggings either so this was another one that I don't think she would get much use out of.

Chaya Brushed Ruffle Skater Dress by Chenault Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress is the exact same dress as the one above but in a different print. Again, it has the softness and pockets and Liv liked this print a bit better, but this was too short for her, too. If I thought these would look good with leggings they would have been nice fall dresses, but she would have to wear a cardigan over them and then you don't get to see the cute ruffle detail which is part of what makes these so cute!

Kamala Lace Hem Short by Hippie Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

How adorable are these shorts with the lace details? I thought they were really nice, but we are also a bit late in the season for her to get new denim shorts (especially since they are a style she very rarely wears!). In addition to the cute lace, these have an adjustable waist and just a little bit of distressing. I wish they had these in my size! You can see them on her below.

Kya Crochet Detail Top by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $18.00

This is such a great top for a young girl with its soft pink color, bright florals, and the cute lace detail on the sleeves. I thought this would be a hit with Liv, too, but I think she got fixated on how those little straps at the neck felt. The shirt was really soft and comfortable with an elastic waistband to give it a cute shape. The fit on this one was great, too.

Vita Peplum Tank by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

I really liked this top, but since she is only 5 we try to stay away from spaghetti straps. They tend to fall down and it just feels like too mature of a style for her. Otherwise, the top was great quality, the colors and style were cute and the peplum style with the fun ruffle detail at the neckline is very trendy.

Huggie Knit Legging by Cotton On, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $12.00

These leggings have such a fantastic vintage feel to them! I love everything about them and because they have flowers and a little bit of pink, Liv liked them, too. They fit her well and were even a little long on her, which I appreciated since the length is usually our issue when it comes to clothes. Finding a top to pair with these might be tricky, but these were a great find!

Reese Button Front Swing Tank by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

This spaghetti top tank felt much too mature for Liv, especially since it was very sheer, almost see-through. The top is soft and she thought it was comfortable with the flowy swing style, but it just wasn't for us. She wasn't as distressed by it as she looks in the photo though. I think I caught her mid-daydream!

Hildie Knit Denim Cuff Short by Hippie Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $22.00

I really liked this pair of jean shorts! They have a fun button detail in the front, but they actually snap making it much easier for my daughter to put them on. They also feature an adjustable waistband and are advertised as being super soft against the skin which is great for my daughter who occasionally has an aversion to denim. She found them to be comfortable and since we don't need any denim shorts right now I plan on asking her stylist if they have these in long pants because they seem like they would be great for cooler weather! You can see the shorts pictured below.

Ivy Graphic Tee by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

I love the vintage look of this last top, although the rose gold metallic detail in the center makes it feel much more updated. It's such a cute style with the black knit cuffs and this was another soft and comfortable shirt. I thought she looked super cute in it! This is a great transitional top as we move into the fall, too.

The Verdict: All of the clothing we received from Stitch Fix Kids this month was so soft, stretchy and comfortable! I love that her stylist sent her such a cute note making it feel more personalized and that she sent the same dress in a few different patterns. Unfortunately, they didn't quite work out, but this is par for the course for my daughter and her long legs! Overall, I thought it was a great mix of styles and while we only found a few keepers, I think her stylist seems to have a pretty good grasp of Liv's style after just two Fixes. We are also in that weird time when I don't want to buy her many more summer clothes since she is a growing girl and we won't get much use past this summer, but since it's technically still the middle of summer, I'm sure their inventory is mostly warm weather items. I'll have to ask for some more transitional pieces next month!

Value Breakdown: This styling service costs $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $194.00. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $125.50. That’s a discount of around 35% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

If you pair that mustard dress with some thick tights and boots, it would be the perfect fall transition outfit!

when my kiddo was younger I used to pair a lot of things with leggings to extend the wear into the fall, but I found that thick tights do the trick almost as well and it’s easier to make them work with dresses than leggings.

I always love reading your reviews to see how cute your daughter is. Those shorts with the adjustable waist sound great especially since your daughter has long legs. My son has always been small for his age and those adjustable waist pants have been a lifesaver since I can shop by height and just adjust to fit his weight.
