The Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar August 2020 Review

The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands. All of the products come in this drawstring bag!

ERASE: Reusable Mascara Remover Wipes by My Little Mascara Club - Retail Value $10.00

These wipes are great because they are reusable making it an eco-friendly beauty product. You can use them with water or with the Micellar Water that I reviewed below. All you have to do is add lots of regular water or the Micellar, apply the soft erase wipe to your eye, hold there for a few seconds, then wipe away. Then just rinse your wipe and set aside to dry, make sure you wash the wipes every 3 to 7 days as well. These wipes are so soft and absorb water so nicely, making them super easy to use. It's never fun when you wash your face only to see that your eye makeup didn't come fully off, that is where a first step wipe is so great to make sure all of your makeup is removed before washing. These wipes are so easy to use and are even easier to keep clean!

FRESH: Micellar Water Mascara Remover by My Little Mascara Club, 3.4 fl oz. - Retail Value $15.00

This water pairs with the mascara wipe that I reviewed above. Much more than water, this is made with natural micelles that are suspended in soft water that work to remove your eye makeup. No mascara is too thick for this water! Plus, it has a lovely cucumber scent to it that makes it super fresh. My eyes are extremely sensitive. Even the smallest thing can cause a big irritation for me so I always tread lightly when it comes to anything that goes near my eyes. Unfortunately, this water really hurt my eyes. I had instant burning each time I tried to use it. This isn't abnormal for me, so I can't say that it is the product at all, just a natural sensitivity that I have to most products when it comes to my eyes. I have been using the mascara wipes with water, which hasn't bothered me at all. So I decided to purchase more of the mascara wipes and gift this as a set to my Mom who is a makeup artist and is obsessed with discovering new products that are both eco-friendly and work hard to remove makeup.

Age Perfect Eye Cream by Évolué, 5 oz. - Retail Value $98.00

I get a lot of eye creams in subscription boxes, but I was blown away by the price for this bottle! It made me really excited to research the brand more and try the product. Age Perfect contains a skin-identical lipid concentrate to hydrate, firm, calm, and soothe your eye area. This cream is great for all skin types and is filled with antioxidants that lift and help reduce the appearance of crows feet and wrinkles. Some of the ingredients include Aqua, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Squalane, Cera alba, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Phytosphingosine Hydrochloride, Sodium PCA, Hyaluronic Acid. Saccharide Isomerate, Arginine, Hyaluronic Acid, and Citrus Grandis Extract. You can use this morning and night by lightly dapping small amounts to your eye area, mouth, and forehead. I have been using this for a few nights now so I can't say that I have seen a huge difference just yet, but I will say that my eye area has seemed more hydrated (great for makeup application). The best part for me is that this cream hasn't irritated my eyes at all! The product doesn't have a scent to it so I haven't experienced any burning or irritation, which is great because that means I can continue to use it and hopefully see some results to my laugh lines as I lovingly refer to them.

2nd Skin Corrector by 100% Pure - Retail Value $25.00

This corrector comes in yellow, green, or peach. I received the peach which works to brighten dark circles and dull skin. This concealer is made with hydrating olive squalane and natural pigments to reduce the appearance of dark circles. I used this on my under eyes and on some red blemishes that I had on my nose and chin. I applied and blended before applying my foundation. I thought this blended nicely and worked well at reducing my dark circles. I will say that by the end of the day I could see that the color under my eyes was a bit off from the rest of my face, having a bit of a peachy and sort of dry look to it. The next time I used this corrector I used less and I will say it had more staying power throughout the day, so less is more with this!

Solid Water Probiotic Facial Toner by We Are Wild, 0.8 oz. - Retail Value $24.00

I received sunscreen from this brand and loved it so I was excited to try this toner, but I have to say I was a bit surprised to see that this came in a stick like a sunscreen. The directions say to apply, you just want to swipe this stick across your cleansed skin and pat any excess toner gently into your skin with your fingers. This can be used on its own or along with another moisturizer. The toner is made with pure water, probiotics, and fermented anti-oxidants to detoxify your pores, control acne, control pH, and boost moisture within your skin. I have been using this for a few days now, but I have to say that I am not loving it. I think that I just don't love the stick application because I never really feel as though I am getting any or enough on my skin. When I do apply a bit harder or more, it sort of flakes off like a deodorant. I have noticed some improvement to some chin irritation that I have had the past few days, so maybe that means that this toner is working its detoxing magic! I am going to keep using this to see if I see improvement over time, and maybe then I will start to get used to the application process. How are you all liking this application for the toner?

3 Shades of Nude Mineral Eyeshadow by Cougar Beauty - Retail Value $12.00  (£8.99)

This eyeshadow case is perfection! It is small enough that I don't feel guilty adding more eyeshadow to my makeup bag, and it is the perfect size to take with you in an overnight bag or to carry in your daily bag if you want to have it for touchups on the go. These mineral shadows are silky smooth and go on so well without any fallout. The best part is that you can really build with each color and they work great alone or blended together. In the photo above, I blended the two bottom colors together to get a sort of dark copper look that I was really into! I love that I can do a darker look or something light for an easy makeup day all in one shadow case!

Verdict: The Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar was a treat! I was blown away by the value of the eye cream, and have been really happy that the ingredients are not irritating my sensitive eyes. This means I will hopefully see some results soon in my eye area now that I know I can safely use this cream! I am a sucker for new eyeshadow and the Cougar Beauty mineral shadows did not disappoint! I can get a full evening look or an easy daytime tone all in one, which I love. Plus the three colors are all tones that I love using so I know I will get a ton of use out of it. The skin corrector worked great once I knew how little I needed to get some solid coverage, and it left me with a flawless glow! The toner isn't my favorite just yet, but I am going to keep using it to see if my skin notices a difference in overall smoothness and hopefully get used to this new type of application process. While I didn't love the mascara water, the wipes are my new favorite makeup removing item! Don't worry, the water was gifted to my Mom along with a new set of makeup wipes! I calculated a retail value of around $184, and at $31.95 a month for this box, I would say that is an incredible deal. This month introduced me to some really amazing brands that I hadn't heard of before! Plus, I got to try new products that I wouldn't normally buy for myself, so even though the toner is a bit off for me it is something new and interesting to test. This is the perfect beauty box to indulge in for some at-home pampering, the perfect gift to yourself or your fellow beauty lovers!

Has everyone gotten their September beauty boxes yet? I signed up a day late but they said I could still get it. On their site it says that all sept boxes have been shipped. I have seen that shipping is super slow so just curious! Also for the beauty box do you always get to customize items or only sometimes? I haven’t seen any newer spoilers on here so hopefully they’ll be back soon!

I got the Évolué serum instead of the eye cream and have been loving it.
I didn’t think I would like the mascara remover wipes because I’ve tried other similar products from other boxes, but they’ve turned out to be great! I love that I’m not going through cotton rounds anymore.

I did a 3 month subscription of the mini lifestyle box. When that was discontinued, they sent the beauty box instead. I liked this box and I’m tempted to continue when my prepaid is over.

The eyeshadow is wonderful! I have been using it daily since getting it! I was really hoping for eyeshadow when I saw the theme was “eye candy!” This is my second month getting this box and I have been pleased both times.

I save the stick type products for when I travel (well whenever I can do that again) so I don’t need to waste valuable space in my liquids bag.

I wound up throwing that toner away. I could never make it work and it just felt like a gimmick to me. I finally got tired of messing around with it. I don’t have sensitive eyes really and that make up remover really stung my eyes too. I won’t be using that either I loved the wipes and the eye cream is nice. I also liked the concealer. So even with the two things that didn’t work, this box was still a win for me.

Hi Taryn! Why don’t you try applying the toner to the palms of your hands and rubbing them together before patting it into your face rather than directly on your face? That may make the application more enjoyable.

That is a great idea! I am going to try that tonight!

Boxtopus!

Ooh, this looks like a great box! I recently subscribed to B&C’s quarterly lifestyle box, but their beauty box is looking pretty tempting! Thank you for the review.
