BomiBox K-Beauty Subscription August 2020 Review

BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card describes all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.

A'Pieu Pure Block Natural Daily Sun Cream, 50ml - Retail Value $9.90 (found here for $5.90)

A’pieu is one of my favorite Korean beauty brands. I am always eager to try any product from them, and their Madecassoside line is heaven for my sensitive skin. This sunscreen is chemical rather than mineral and is formulated with aloe, fruit extracts, and flower extracts. It was a moisturizing sunscreen that I was able to rub in with no white cast, and I noticed my skin had a nice glow later in the day when I had used this sunscreen.

Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner, 5 oz - Retail Value $18

I’ve tried the balancing licorice essence from this brand and liked it, so I’m happy to see this toner. This is also the second month in a row that we received a full-size toner, so I should be good to go for a while. This has a high concentration of licorice root water along with peony and green tea extract that work to add brightness to your skin while maintaining balance. I’ve been using this every morning as my first step, and it’s been great at balancing my skin while keeping it calm.

Somebymi Safe Hand Sanitizer, 90ml

Hand sanitizers are a popular subscription box item right now (probably because it’s a popular life item right now), and along with the germ-killing alcohol, this also has green tea and white mulberry bark extract. The alcohol scent wasn’t too terribly strong, either- this absorbed into my hands pretty quickly and I was ready to go. I actually passed this along to my boyfriend to keep in his work vehicle since I have so many scented hand sanitizers, and he was happy to have it.

Pyunkang Yul Acne Spot Cream, 15 ml - Retail Value $10.90

I really like this brand, so I was happy to try out this acne cream to fight my maskne. I had a small whitehead near my lip that I tested this out on, and the next day the pimple was essentially gone. I’m not sure how this will work on cystic acne, but I’ll be trying it out on that next.

Heimish Perfume Hand Cream in Garden Refresh, 30ml - Retail Value $8

This hand cream came packaged in a metal tube that feels very on-trend with what I’ve been seeing on Instagram, and boy is the texture of this hand cream thick. It took a few moments for it to absorb enough before I felt comfortable grabbing my phone and touching screens. The “garden refresh” scent was a pleasant floral that wasn’t overwhelming, and my hands and cuticles did feel much better after using this.

Petitfee Dry Essence Foot Pack - Retail Value $3.90 (found here for $3.71)

I am always happy to receive a non-traditional mask in this subscription, and this dry essence foot pack nourished and softened my feet without making them feel slick with lotion. If you need a heavy-duty foot treatment this may not be for you, but I enjoyed wearing these under some socks while watching tv.

Somebymi Clear Spot Patch, 18 ct - Retail Value $5.90

Patches like these are great if you’re prone to acne that forms heads. The hydrocolloid will absorb everything in that pimple while protecting it from oils and anything else touching your face, so the pimple can heal more quickly. These are actually infused with essential oils, which can be soothing to some and irritating to others - it all depends on your skin's sensitivities.

Innisfree Jeju Root Energy Mask in Kohlrabi - Retail Value $2

I am a big Innisfree fan, and this was a new sheet mask for me. Along with five types of hyaluronic acid, this mask is also made kohlrabi to add brightness to your skin and cica and allantoin to soothe. For the low price tag, this mask is hard to beat.

The Verdict: This was another enjoyable box from Bomibox. I really appreciate receiving multiple full-size products from K-Beauty brands I already know and love like Acwell, A’pieu, and Pyunkang Yul. The overall duration of the box felt thoughtful, and this is the first time in a longggg time we haven’t received a cleanser. Value-wise, everything in this box except the hand sanitizer adds up to $58.60.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Previous boxes are sometimes available in the BomiBox shop here for $35.99 + shipping. Order by the 15th to receive the current month's box. If you order today, your first regular box should be the October box.

Value Breakdown: At $38.99 for this box, you're paying approximately $4.87 per item.

I got this box and love it! It’s a very useful box. It’s nice seeing a review on this since I don’t I know anyone else who gets this besides me lol😊

What was your favorite product this month, Liz? Mine was the Acwell toner 🙂

Oh my gosh Jessica, you totally hit the nail on the head when it comes to not wanting to re-purchase HGs because there’s so many other products to try, lol! 😀 I’d have to think hard about it, but I’m sure I could come up with a HG skincare routine that I probably really should be sticking to, but the desire for variety and experimenting pulls me in a totally different direction. 🙂

For my everyday toner, I’m currently working my way through some deluxe samples, and the one I’m using now is Lotus Moon’s DMAE Tone + Tighten Pads. They’re okay, but definitely not my favorite, mostly because the pads are a bit scratchy. Twice per week I’m using Ayuna’s The Facial – High, which is super active thus why I only use it 2x/week at night. I’m also using La Mer’s The Tonic 1x/week on my spa night which is a nice all around toner. I wouldn’t say it’s hydrating but more like a pH balancing toner. The last full size toner I recently used up, before I decided to use up some deluxe samples, was Scinic’s All Day Fine Pore Toner. I didn’t notice any difference in the appearance of my pores, but it was a nice clarifying toner.

Thanks for the feedback, Luna! With as many subscription boxes you receive, it MUST be good for you to recommend it (I mean I knew that… but maybe other readers weren’t sold by my review alone 🙂 ). It’s also really excellently priced, but it’s hard to balance repurchasing something I know I love when I still want to try the remaining products left in the world. What toner are you using now?

Luna

Hi Jessica! I finished a bottle of that toner earlier this year, and it was soooo nice! It was super hydrating, and I totally miss it. You’re so lucky you got it in the box. 🙂

Nice! I ended up giving the hand sanitizer to my boyfriend to keep in his work vehicle, so your feedback makes me even happier. I don’t want him to have dry hands but giving him hand cream won’t really work 😂

Liz

LOVED the toner! And kind of an odd choice but I love the hand sanitizer! For me, it reminds me of Mega babe squeaky clean bec of the thicker gel texture and the moisturizing feel afterwards!
