CAUSEBOX Summer 2020 Review
Each CAUSEBOX comes with a beautiful booklet full of information about each product, its origins, and other tips and anecdotes. I really love learning more about the independent makers behind artisan products and designers and this booklet had so much info! I always read this book from cover to cover!
Let's dive in!
PMD Beauty PMD Clean - Retail Value $99.00
This device arrived at the perfect time because my Foreo Luna Play just died and I have become really used to using this thing for a pore deep clean on my face. I have a sneaking suspicion that mine died because Will was also using it, so replacing my old Luna Play with a battery-operated option is great because this should last a lot longer! I will admit when I first tried one of these, I didn't expect much. But dang do those 7000 vibrations per minute really make a difference in my skin texture over time! Think of this as both a way to get your pores super clean and also a very gentle but highly effective way to exfoliate! There is also a little info on the site about how these vibrations are at a "perfect frequency" to firm the skin (not so sure about that one). Since I am used to the round handheld shape of my old device, this want might take a little bit of getting used to, but I look forward to using this daily!
FEYA Candle Co. Reed Diffuser in 'White Tea and Ginger' - Retail Value $24.00
(Subscribers will receive this in either 'White Tea & Ginger' OR 'Bergamot & Grapefruit'.)
I keep a diffuser in my office to make sure it is always smelling nice, and this scent is one of those sorts that is great for both summer and fall because it is both sweet and also a little herbal from the ginger. I am thrilled that this fragrance is pet-safe too! I placed all of the reeds inside for maximum scent and I am very much enjoying this scent combined with open windows and a crisp breeze.
Pepper + Vetiver Nesting Bowls - Retail Value $49.00
(All subscribers will receive this item.)
These bowls were the item I was looking forward to the most this season! I love nesting bowls and the soothing blues and greens of the watercolor design were calling my name! These shades are the sort that would work in any kitchen, even if you don't have much blue or green. They are a nice weight too, and very shiny! Will and I are in the middle of installing some floating kitchen shelves and I can't wait to store these out in the open so I can admire them even when I am not putting them to use.
AltCooking Hub Set of 6 Silicone Stretch Lids - Retail Value $8.99
(All subscribers will receive this item.)
These (rather genius) silicone lids are the perfect compliment to my new bowls. I have been trying to use less cling film and aluminum foil, and these super stretchy little lids are the perfect alternative to creating more trash. They are also shaped like turtles, which adds a cuteness factor I cannot ignore! The six different sizes inside can cover anything from an open dog food can to half of a cut watermelon!
Grace & Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum, 1.7 fl oz - Retail Value $25.00
(All subscribers will receive this item.)
This is one of those brands I just don't know a lot about, but I do know about the ingredients inside. If you are looking for a basic hyaluronic acid serum, this isn't a bad choice at all! Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is naturally found in the body and can hold 1000 times its weight in water. Basically, it's pretty freaking great for adding moisture to skin without leaving it feeling super heavy. This formula also has soothing panthenol and protecting glycerine to give those HA molecules even more of a boost. I think as someone who literally is always trying out new serums and skincare, this isn't a super exciting bottle and there are better serums out there, but this is still a decent HA serum for most skin types and this formula is vegan, cruelty-free, and Leaping Bunny certified.
Savhera Essential Oil Roll-on Duo in Tracy's Grace and Secret Zest - Retail Values $11.00 and $13.00
(Annual subscribers can choose between this set OR Matr Boomie Fringe Earrings OR Honua Hawaiian Skincare Malu Day Cream SPF30)
I do love me some essential oil roll-ons! Especially since TOMORROW is my first day back at yoga in literally 6 months. My studio is now offering classes outside and we will all be spaced out for safety, meaning I can totally use some EOs without offending a closeby neighbor! We also all have to wear masks throughout the whole thing. I am planning on applying the 'Secret Zest' blend to a spot on my mask because it is a super energizing blend of orange, bergamot, ylang ylang, and geranium. It should give me a little boost as I try to remind my body how to do a proper sun salutation. Post yoga I will try out the very relaxing 'Tracy's Secret' blend to wind down. It is a blend of orange, lavender, and rosemary. Yum!
Doctor Rogers RESTORE Healing Balm, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $30.00
(Annual subscribers can choose between this item OR Nanaka Juice Cleanse Citrus Bath Salts)
My final item is a smaller tube of the cult-fave RESTORE balm. Though this balm has a massive following (and for good reason) it is deceptively simple, containing only castor oil and glycerine. It is ideal for dry elbows and knees, as well as cuticles and brought patches on your skin. This small tube should last a really long time because you only need a pea-sized amount to get the job done!
Art Print
And in every box, CAUSEBOX includes a postcard print you can mail or frame. This one is so cheerful! And those strawberries are a summer dream.
Verdict: This CAUSEBOX has a value of about $260 which is fantastic for a $54.95 box. I thought this month was also a mix of items that are less expected in the sub box world along with some other types that are common. For example, the nesting bowls and lids? I was so excited about these because I haven't had anything similar arrive in recent memory. The PMD device was something I was kind of needing to replace in my skincare routine, and though I have gotten similar items before, it's not super common. I also loved the essential oil roll-ons and reed diffuser as delightfully fragrant additions to this assortment. The Dr. Rogers balm and serum rounded out a pretty diverse assortment without making the picks this month feel too random. All in all, I am very pleased with my Summer box, even though it was extra late arriving to me.
