FaceTory 7 Lux August 2020 Review
Now on to the masks!
Aroh Marine Energy Moisture Mask - Retail Value $3.00
What is it about this blue that I am obsessed with this season? I don't know, but it made this the first mask I reached for this month. And it was fantastic! Sure, it was extra gooey with a clear slimy serum, but honestly, this was one of its charms. The other big feature was cica inside, one of my fave ingredients for helping calm my ruddy skin. It had a nice fresh scent that was stronger than I expect from a mask, but I loved it.
Ultru I’m Sorry for My Skin pH 5.5 Soothing Mask - Listed Value $3.00
The name of this mask is a little odd, but look at this kitten! The serum was thicker, much like the blue mask above. I liked this one, too! It was very soothing and also had some cica. The serum was heavier but didn't feel like it weighed down my skin or left a film.
Lookatme Aloe Vera Face Mask - Retail Value $3.00
Who doesn't love some aloe on their face after some sun? This mask is the sort that I'll toss in the fridge before applying. As expected, it was so cooling and soothing! All I needed were some cucumber slices for my eyes and I could have passed out on the couch. Inside is aloe (yeah, I know) and hyacinth extract which is said to calm irritation. My skin was really refreshed after this one!
Dewytree Skin Derma Aqua Mask - Retail Value $3.00
I literally said "aaaaaaahhh...." out loud as I placed this mask on my face. It was really nice! The serum was clear and very watery, and it felt lightweight on my face. Though it was on the lighter end, my skin seemed to soak up this serum and it was super hydrated and smooth after I removed this one.
Holika Holika Less on Skin Cica Dressing Mask - Retail Value $3.00
This month is a cica party, and I am HERE for it! In addition to my fave botanical, this mask also has magnesium and panthenol inside which left my face feeling noticeably softer and smoother. I liked the material of this mask too; it did feel more like some sort of sheet mask gauze bandage, in the best way.
Detoskin Celery Cleanse Mask - Retail Value $3.00
I always keep my thoughts on this sub in the Notes app on my phone since it can take a little time to try all of these masks out. The first thing I typed under this mask was "watery, messy, wonderful" and that pretty much sums it up! The clear serum has a soft greenish scent but doesn't smell like celery. The serum ran down my neck but I didn't care! Just more to massage in. My skin was dewy and less red after this one. I really liked it!
Purenskin Natural Effect Real Oatmeal Mask - Retail Value $4.50
I was a little less crazy about this mask this month because one of the main reasons I love sheet masks is that they are effortless and (mostly) not a mess. This is the sort of mask you have to mix and then wash off. And, frankly, I was feeling lazy when I tried it. There isn't actually a sheet inside, just two pockets, one with a creamy serum base and the other with powdered oatmeal. You pop them within the bag then peel off the lower end to form a mixing packet. It also comes with a stick for mixing and application. I didn't love this. It made my face feel a little filmy, though it did hydrate.
MYSTERY BONUS MASK:
Puclair Cocktail Blue Hawaii Mask - Retail Value $2.00
This mask was neither tropical nor blue, in terms of scent and color. If you really searched for it, you might find a hint of booze, but that also might have been my imagination or the actual cocktail I was drinking when I was wearing this. Formula-wise, it was fine. It felt nice on the face and was cooling.
This month arrived with a bonus product, too!
Yadah Cactus Soothing Gel, 105 g - Retail Value $12.00
Aloe is something I practically bathe in during the summery months and this is a nice gel for after sun. You could actually also use this year-round because in addition to hydrating aloe it also has panthenol and soothing allantoin. It is also fragrance-free and alcohol-free, making it a great hydrating gel for sensitive skin as well.
Verdict: FaceTory was full of wins and cica this month! In fact, the only mask I didn't like was the oatmeal one. If you are less lazy when you hit the couch to watch TV than I am, you might feel differently. I also thought the extra aloe gel was perfect for this time of year.
