ShoeDazzle is a monthly shoe, clothing, and accessories subscription service. You can shop their merchandise like normal retail, but they have a VIP subscription that gives you better prices – almost everything is only $39.95 (or less) for VIPs. When you sign up for a membership, you complete a style profile. On the 1st of every month, they release new styles and you can pick any item you want – either from your personal ‘Showroom’ or across the site. You can also skip the month. However, if you don’t pick or skip, you get charged $39.95 store credit to spend any time.

This model is similar to how JustFab, Fabletics, and AdoreMe work.

ShoeDazzle July 2020 Review

This month's ShoeDazzle did not include an invoice statement or coupons/samples. Onward with the review!

Plus Size Off The Shoulder Long Sleeve Body Suit, Size 3x — Retail Value $42.95, VIP Price $29.95, 25% Off Sale Price $22.46

I love the idea of an off the shoulder top, but I forgot one important fact: I have incredibly broad shoulders. This has been a fact since childhood/pre-teen years in the '80s/'90s. This was a time when sweaters, blouses, blazers, bomber jackets, etc-- you name it really-- had sewn-in shoulder pads. Everyone was emulating the looks of Angela from Who's the Boss? and The Designing Women crew, I tell ya! It was a time when women were staking their claim in the male dominated workforce and power suits with gigantic shoulder pads were all rage! While everyone else was rocking their shoulder pads, I was either cutting them out or trying to accept my quarterback like shoulders in certain clothing items where the pads were inaccessibly embedded in the structure of the clothing. Shoulder pads were the devil to someone already dealing with changes in their body. However, I have come a long in my journey in body acceptance, but still have avoided this particular style of off-shoulder tops in adulthood. Not because I dislike them or my beautifully broad shoulders (your girl will rock a cut off tee exposing her shoulders like a boss), but simply because these tops never stay in place! I was thinking this bodysuit would be made of a cotton/stretchy T-shirt material, so there may be hope. Alas, I was wrong! This spandex like material does not lend any assistance in keeping this top from rolling, staying in place, and simply looking anything but sloppy. I cannot tell you how much adjusting I did to even get these pictures. However, if you have more diminutive shoulders-- this might be the top for you! You might not have to adjust this as much as I did and be able to wear it more comfortably without this rumpled effect I managed to get. If that is the case, this will be a whole dang lewk! Imagine Tura Satana of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! with some tight, black jeggings and booties. I was going for Peg Bundy (as always) myself when I selected this top. Though it wasn't a complete success due to the fit, I loved styling this top with my faux leather mini skirt, white booties, and black-and-white retro daisy earrings from Laser Kitten!

Plus Size High Waisted Ruched Midi Skirt, Size 3x — Retail Value $42.95, VIP Price $29.95, 25% Off Sale Price $22.46

This skirt is a heart breaker, I tell ya. I was so excited when I initially spied this number on the ShoeDazzle site. As I have said in past reviews, the site can be a bit hit or miss when it comes to plus size clothing due to the limited selection. My heart went boom when I saw this tiger print skirt-- is this some animal print mirage before me? I got the 3x assuming it would fit like a dream, but sadly-- I was incredibly wrong. I expected this skirt to be made of a stretchy cotton material upon seeing it on the site. No, there is absolutely no stretch in the material nor at the waistline. For a style like this, I feel you want it to be ultra-stretchy and hug your curves. Truth be told, I could not get this over my ample hips and posterior (that have both expanded slightly since the pandemic like so many others) for the life of me! I tried to have my boyfriend zip it, but the zipper wasn't meeting. What a bummer!

Even though this piece was a no-go for me, it doesn't mean it won't be a winner for you! Just be sure to size up due to the lack of stretch or give in the fabric. If this had fit me, I had dreams of wearing this with the bodysuit in this review or with a vintage band T-shirt (for me, it would be a Cramps shirt, because DUH!) as well as ankle booties and big sparkly hoops. This also could transition to the workplace with a black blouse and flats. You would be the cat's meow of your (work at home) office!

Verdict: Wow, guys, I don't think I can sugar coat it-- this month was a bit of a disaster. Both items I received either fit poorly or didn't fit at all. As a plus size woman, I am familiar with this pain, but it is a bigger disappointment when it is a piece you are smitten with like I was with the tiger print skirt! Not the tiger print skirt, ShoeDazzle! I still feel the sting, guys!

I do love ShoeDazzle for their namesake: shoes. However, I do try to focus on reviewing their clothing to give my readers a feel for what they have to offer. Sadly, it isn't much these days! In the last year or so, I have noticed how limited their selections for plus size clothing are and have resorted to buying a lot of accessories from them. If you read my review in June, you probably saw me address this frustration. It is upsetting to see the lack of inclusivity in the products that are offered lately from them for plus size women. Currently, there are seventy-two items total in plus sizes available on their site. To put this in perspective, if I go into the straight size dress section, that portion has EIGHTY-FIVE items alone! I find that unacceptable.

I have loved using ShoeDazzle in the past due to their amazing VIP program, phenomenal sales, and because at one time they did have wonderful options in plus sizes. Sadly, each month the section seems to dwindle more and more. That is especially sad considering sixty-seven percent of American women are a size fourteen and above. Us bodacious babes want cute clothing, too! I truly hope they up their game because this VIP member is feeling let down! Fingers, eyes, arms, legs, and toes are crossed that August brings some fun pieces to renew my faith in my old friend, ShoeDazzle!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, both pieces are available.

Value Breakdown: Both the skirt and bodysuit I selected this month have a retail value of $42.95 each (or $85.90 for both before discounts), but with my VIP membership and the 25% off promo,  I spent $48.67 before shipping and handling! That means I saved $37.23; that is roughly a savings of 43%! Not too bad at all!

Tamichiko

I fully agree with you on this. When I first started ordering from ShoeDazzle/JustFab they had way more clothing in plus sizes than I can dream of, but now they are very limited. As someone who also wears plus size clothing, I am very disappointed. Although, and this is just wishful thinking here, I’m beginning to think that they are purposely trying to dissuade plus size customers from shopping with them. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be the only retailers who are doing this. Even American Eagle will only sell their plus size clothing online.

Oh, yes, Tamichiko! Sadly, it is not a surprise, but nonetheless frustrating. Old Navy did that as well years ago too (not sure if they started carrying plus in the stores again because I haven’t shopped through them in a while). Even though American Eagle only sells their plus size jeans online– I must say their ultra high waisted black jeans are my favorite jeans of all time. So, I hope they never ever ever discontinue them!

But yes, it will always blow my mind how we are the largest market and we still don’t get tended to– foolishness on these businesses part!

Awe thanks, Shari! It is actually the body suit from Shoedazzle paired with a skirt and boots of my own. But they look pretty ace together I think!
