The Box By Fashionsta August 2020 Review
The Box By Fashionsta comes with a simple info card that gives a short description of each included product with their retail value.
Color Correcting Concealer Palette by Bellapierre Cosmetics - Retail Value $50.00
This concealer palette is amazing, and what a great way to include a palette that works for all skin tones! I also think this would be an incredible gift or item for a makeup artist to have. I showed this to my Mom who is a makeup artist, and she was blown away that something like this was included in a box! The palette comes with a detailed booklet that goes over what each color does and how to use it correctly. These concealers are best used under foundations and work to smooth imperfections like dark spots, acne spots, and dark circles. So far I've used the lightest tone, which you can see in the above photo that I used under my eyes, and I used the green to help with some other spots on my face. I have a lot of red tones throughout my skin that become even worse from blemishes, so using this palette to cancel out these tones allowed me to have a smooth and fresh look that blended so nicely.
Shine Bright Eyeshadow Palette by Amorus - Retail Value $9.00
I am one of those people who can never have too many palettes! I really enjoy changing my eye makeup day to day; some days I want hardly anything, summers I do more gold and copper tones with a little shimmer, winter I stick to browns and deep purples, pool days and school days are completely different, too. So I love having options to play around with! This palette is super fun because it is a mix of matte and metallic tones. Plus, the brand is paraben and cruelty-free. In the photo above, I have on Kind and Hope, which went on smoothly, but they did have some fallout from the brush. Nothing too major, but I felt like I had to go over my eyes a few times to get proper coverage. Overall, I thought the coverage from each color was great and I love the variation of colors throughout the palette!
Ultra Day Serum by Dirty Lamb, 1 fl oz. - Retail Value $44.00
If you follow my reviews you know how much I love a good facial serum. Let me start by saying that this did not disappoint! This blend is vegan and cruelty-free and made with Rice Bran Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp Seed) Oil, Azadirachta Indica (Neem) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Seed) Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, & Citrus Limon (Lemon) Oil. The serum absorbs quickly and easily without leaving skin feeling greasy, instead it leaves me with a super healthy glow. I have been using two drops along with my moisturizer every morning and night and I am loving the results! My skin feels smooth, hydrated, and it allows my makeup to go on so smoothly while still having a glow. This serum is going into my list of facial serum favorites!
Prime & Fine Dewy Glow Finishing Spray by Catrice Cosmetics, 1.69 fl oz. - Retail Value $8.00
Another amazing product for me this month! I love when my skin has a healthy glow and when my makeup looks a bit dewy so this is the product for me! This spray is paraben-free, vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and works to prime, fix, and refresh your skin and makeup. All you have to do is shake and spray either before applying your makeup or after for a quick touch-up. I have been using this right before I apply my makeup and I am loving the results. It gives me this fresh, hydrated feeling while leaving my skin dewy with a healthy glow, which I love. This spray was used in all of my makeup photos above so you can see how fresh my skin looks! This is a product that I am going to purchase again and again once this bottle runs out!
Melting Lip Powder in Hot Choco by CLE Cosmetics - Retail Value $20.00
I received this lip powder in the July Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar, and I really wanted to love the product then but discovered that it just was not for me. When I saw this powder again I was hopeful that maybe this color, which is different from the one that I received in B&C's Beauty Box, would work a bit better. Unfortunately, I just don't think this powder is for me. The brand is super interesting though, which made me intrigued by the product initially: founded in Korea by a Parsons graduate, CLE Cosmetics focuses on making beauty products that are non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free. This powder is a transforming pigmented powder that you can use on your lips, cheeks, or eyes. It looks like powder in the bottle, but comes out like a lip gloss and goes on with a matte finish. This powder is super messy when removing it from the tube, the powder spilled right out all of my sink, so be careful when using it. The powder itself goes on matte, but the coverage is what caused me the biggest issue. It takes a lot of layers to get complete coverage, but then the color doesn't last very long—once I drank a bit of my coffee the lipstick was off. I think this product is just not for me, which is such a bummer because I loved both of the colors that I received!
Mermaid Milk Nutrient Glow Moisturizer by Earth Harbor, 2 oz. - Retail Value $42.00
This moisturizer is meant to moisturize, replenish, prime, and balance your skin. It is super lightweight, making it perfect to use along with a facial oil. It is a pure plant-derived formula made with Superfoods Spirulina & Matcha, along with concentrated Phytonutrients, Antioxidants, and Vegan Hyaluronic Acid. Since this is made for all skin types, you can apply as little or as much as your skin needs. I didn't love this moisturizer at first for my super dry skin, but once I used a bit more and paired it with a yummy facial oil, I was really able to feel the benefits! Not to mention that this smells so amazing thanks to that matcha blend! This is a product that I am happy to add to my skincare routine!
Verdict: The Box By Fashionsta was a huge hit for me this month! Receiving the concealer and eyeshadow palettes were incredible for me, and are two large items that I know I will use often. The concealer is great because it includes shades for all skin tones, and you can find a color for any discoloration that you might want to smooth over before applying your foundation. The eyeshadow palette is the perfect mix of colors and finishes making it perfect to use year-round for a variety of looks. The moisturizer mixed with the facial serum are both going into my skincare routine as we speak because they both provided me with hydration and a glow that I desire for my dry skin. The spray is my new queen makeup product, it is honestly everything that I have ever wanted because it makes my skin dewy before and after applying my makeup. All I ever really want is to have that perfect dewy skin every day, but my dry skin does not allow it so I rely on products like this and facial serums to keep me glowing! The only product really that was a miss for me was the lip powder, but I sort of went in knowing it wasn't going to be for me since I received it in a box last month already. This box has a retail value of $173.00 which is incredible for a $24.99 box. The product curation gives me variety while still all sort of making sense together, and I always seem to find my golden products from this box. Like every month I find something that I never knew I needed but always wanted and needed if that makes sense! Plus, if the products don't work for you specifically, they are all super high quality and would make great gifts or just a friendly pass-along item to give to a friend, neighbor, or share with your mom or sister. I can't say enough about this box, I am in love!
