Wicked Good Perfume "Autumn Harvest" Review September 2020
A few things to note about these fragrances:
- They are formulated without phthalates, parabens, or petroleum
- These are vegan and cruelty-free and they use sustainable ingredients that are responsibly sourced
- I am not a huge perfume lover because they usually give me headaches, but these unique, handcrafted fragrances do not!
This month's theme is "Autumn Harvest" and since this is my favorite season, I was so excited to see what was in store! On one side, this card lists the products, the scents they contain, and their retail value, while the back has some information about their box review contest and some savings for scent club members.
Spiced Orange and Clove Lip Whip
This is the first time I've received a product like this in this box, and it looks like mine came a little bit melted, although it didn't really change in texture after putting it in the fridge so I could be wrong! The texture is somewhat like a softer form of petroleum jelly. This is a blend of orange pomander, spiced brandy, Saigon cinnamon, star anise, and gingered honey. At first, I get a little bit of the orange, and then it's mostly the spice and sweetness of the gingered honey. It felt moisturizing and gave my lips a slight shine, but there was a little bit of a taste that I didn't care for. Maybe the star anise? It is very slight though and not enough to deter me from wearing this since the scent is so lovely!
Candy Corn Buttercream Whipped Soap
How cute is this little container of whipped soap? It smells just as good as it looks, or maybe better if you're one of those who doesn't like candy corn. It really doesn't smell like candy corn, but instead, I get the bourbon vanilla mostly with just a bit of the sugary sweetness from the marshmallow cream and powdered sugar. The texture is slightly firm even though it looks super airy which means a little bit goes further than you'd think. It works into a nice lather and left my skin feeling clean with just the very faintest vanilla scent to it.
Pomegranate Noir Perfume Oil Roller, 10 mL - Listed Value $18.00
Our perfume roller this month is a blend of pomegranate, black currant, opopanax, patchouli, and midnight woods. I got a lot of the black currant from this one with some vibrant pomegranate notes. The woodsy scents had a hint of amber to them and this felt kind of like a frosted berries scent to me. My 2-year-old saw me putting this on and asked for some so I put a little on his shirt and he kept smelling it and asking for more, so I think it was a hit!
Brown Sugar Oud Perfume Spray, 1 oz. - Listed Value $29.00
This month's perfume spray is a blend of brown sugar, bergamot, valencia orange, mint leaves, clove, wild cypress, sea salt, tonka amber, black sandalwood, and rare oud wood. I think this scent is just as complex as it sounds, although not in a bad way! It's reminiscent of caramel with the brown sugar, but has a slight tart fruitiness to it, too. I definitely get some of the sandalwood, and I'm sure some of the other fragrances are there as well, but I'm having a hard time describing them since they all blend together so well. It's different and I really like it.
I did try it paired with the roller and together they really felt like fall. It was almost an exotic spiced pumpkin smell with that hint of bright black currant. It really brought out some of the other scents in the roller for me.
Verdict: What a wonderful "Autumn Harvest" set from Wicked Good Perfume this month! I love that these weren't a bunch of specific, traditional fall scents, but rather a blend of scents that really came together to feel like fall. I like that there was a new product to try with the lip whip, and the candy corn whipped soap was so cute! Each month I'm left feeling like I received a great value, and this month's scents have definitely got me in the mood for fall!
