Earthlove Fall 2020 Review

This booklet was included with information about this month's theme and the items inside. This autumn box supports the Rozalia Project in their efforts to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans and in addition to 1% for the Planet, Earthlove also donates a portion of the proceeds from each box to a featured environmental non-profit partner.

In the Moment, 365 Ways to Connect with Your World by Jocelyn De Kwant - Retail Value $15.99

This book is so cute. It feels a lot more like an interactive journal than a book, really. It is filled with different prompts to help you feel less stressed, more mindful, and extra creative! I have found that taking just a few minutes to center myself each day has made a difference in how I am maneuvering my way through this wild, wild year. As someone who could easily be described as hyperactive, meditation and stillness don't come naturally to me at all. But these specific mindful activities feel really, well, good!

From Amazon:

Expanding on the idea of what it means to be mindful, In the Moment offers 365 unique prompts to encourage self-reflection, creative engagement, and appreciation for ordinary moments. This guided journal is divided into twelve sections, each one focused on a different approach to living a mindful life. The Nature chapter nudges you to look for heart-shaped leaves while you're out for a walk. The Body chapter includes a deep-breathing exercise to help restore your sense of calm. The Play chapter features nostalgic paper games and doodling activities that remind you what life was like before the constant distraction of screens. Filled with a mix of writing prompts, suggested activities, and space to draw, In the Moment is the perfect outlet for anyone who is looking for a practical approach to daily mindfulness.

SKRP Reclaimed Hardwood Serving Board with Skateboard Accent - Retail Value $65.00

FYI: This piece measures 9.1″ x 6.5″ x .60″.

I have a growing collection of cheeseboards and I am kind of obsessed with them. They look great under cheese as well as on my kitchen wall, so they are both art and food objects in my home. This one is on the smaller side, but totally large enough for a beautiful baked brie! It features beautifully grained hardwood as well as a very cool red stripe from a reclaimed skateboard!

Spirit Wild Farm Serenity Wildcrafted Bath Soak, 9 oz - Listed Value $24.00

Will and I are SO close to having the 6-foot clawfoot tub in our guest bathroom finally connected back to plumbing. It has been a journey. I used some of this delightful soak in a less glamourous tub at my parent's house this last week and while it was a little messy, the beauty of being surrounded by rosebuds and flower petals was worth the eventual cleanup. You could also use a tea ball to use this with less mess, but what's the fun in that? The salts inside are soothing to tired limbs and the floral scent is relaxing and just altogether a delight.

SOULMUCH Vegan Birthday Cookie – Buy 6 larger cookies for $24.00

This cookie didn't last long. While I am not vegan, I tend to enjoy vegan and vegetarian food since so many of my close family members follow these diets. This was very yummy! It kind of tasted like a very soft gingerbread cookie with the addition of chocolate on top. Delish!

Green Goo Pain Relief Balm, 0.7 oz – Retail Value $7.95

I am lucky that I don't really have any chronic or frequent pain at this point in my life. What I do have though is achy hands from holding paintbrushes and near constant typing! This salve is perfect for applying to sore hands and fingers. It contains arnica, cinnamon, ginger, and peppermint which work together to create a soothing warmth when you rub it in. It actually smells like the holidays to me! This is also nice for scrapes and abrasions that are farther along in the healing process but might still feel sore and the smaller tin means it's a great companion for your purse.

Gemstone Organic Gem Juice Hydrosol - Retail Value $24.00

I love a hydrosol and this one smells like a bright and green forest due to the extracts from redwood trees, cypress, and fir. There is also a herbal rosemary note hidden here too that just serves to enhance the others. This is a great spritz for your face, though be warned: this is a more powerful and direct spray than many other mists out there. Don't aim for your eyes! Fragrant hydrosols are a great way to add some extra moisture to your face and body as well as refresh your mind and raise your mood. Floating inside are pieces of clear quartz and a little amethyst point which is a really nice and meaningful touch.

Earthlove Pot Scrubber - Listed Value $10.00

I feel like Will and I are constantly meaning to purchase a scrubber like this but we never actually end up doing it. When I am out shopping, I guess my mind is on more exciting items? This is ideal for scrubbing off sticky leftovers (or * cough * burnt dinners) from my fave pots and pans without scratching them and without relying on plastic sponges or brushes. If you would rather not use this little beauty in your sink, the sisal brushes also make for a great dry brush for your body!

Big Heart Tea 'Cup of Sunshine' Tea, 1.8 oz - Retail Value $8.99

I don't super love turmeric tea, but I know it's really good for me! The immune-supporting power of this golden spice is extra important during cold and flu season... and whatever else 2020 has in store for us. Something about this particular blend I really like and I think it's because the turmeric is combined with peppercorn and ginger, which make it feel so warming and spicy! Add in some vanilla almond milk and I am sold. I think I could make this turmeric thing more of a habit for sure!

True Moringe Lip Whip in 'Moonlight', 0.25 oz - Retail Value $16.00

I might have saved the best for last with this gorgeous little pot of golden whipped lip treat! At first, I didn't know if this golden shade would work for me (in the pot it looks almost like a shimmering bronzer!) but I was so pleased with it when I tried it on. It is sheer and, yes, golden, but there is enough peach in here to make it so flattering on my lips. It is a thinner consistency than many of my balms but it still feels nourishing and seems to melt right into my lips. It smells softly of peppermint and is a great conditioning treatment for the colder months of the year, though I could see myself buying more of this to use year-round!

Hello, beautiful!

The Verdict: Earthlove is one of those boxes that always just feels really, really good to open and explore. Knowing everything inside was selected with care and respect to the Earth is a joy. I am kind of obsessed with this quarter's curation, too. The book is exactly the sort of thing I enjoy and will dedicate time to, and the self-care items like the salts, lip whip, and hydrosol felt natural but still so indulgent. I also liked that there was some kitchen fun in here with the cutting board, scrubber, and tea! All in all, this box was a total winner for me and I can't wait to check out the Winter box soon. If the items in this box were purchased separately, your total would have been $195.93. For a box price of $59.95, the value is definitely there.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box will be the Fall Editors box.

ACTIVE DEAL: $5 off your first box
CODE: MSA5

Value Breakdown: This box costs $59.95, including free shipping which means each of the 9 items costs an average of $6.66.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Always a fan of your reviews, Megan. I will read reviews of yours for boxes I have no interest in but I think I need to stop doing that because I always end up discovering new things I want to try! Question- I believe I heard that usually turmeric is combined with pepper of some sort because the pepper helps your body be able to actually absorb and process the tumeric. Is this true or am I totally making this up in my head? Lol.

I can’t get the MSABUNDLE to work?

I know this is a pretty old post but in case anyone else is wondering, I put the code in lowercase and it didn’t work, then I tried all caps and it did 🙂

Hi Lala! Just a quick update that we’ve now sold out of the crossback aprons, so we’re swapping in a lovely organic bamboo William Morris reusable cup from eCoffee + a mystery item in place of the reclaimed board. Pre-orders for the Winter box begin on Nov 12th, so if you had wanted to snag an autumn box there’s only a little bit of time left ^_^

Hi Lala! Serina the founder here. If the discount code isn’t working on the checkout page, add it to the cart note instead (note it can’t be combined with other discounts). If you have any other questions about the box, please reach out to us at [email protected] 😊

Hi Lala! I shot the Earthlove team an email to see why it wouldn’t be working in the promo code spot. I will update you when I get an answer. Sorry it gave you some trouble! Hope to have an update for you ASAP. 🙂

I missed the date for this box and they have a welcome box you can order. The description said that instead of the cheeseboard they would substitute the apron from an earlier box. I have no need for an apron, so emailed Earthlove to see if I could have the tea mug from a previous box instead. They so gracefully agreed and they also included the necklace made from scuba gear parts. It’s beautiful. Great customer service. I received everything else from this box except the board and the pain balm. I am really happy.

Looking forward to next quarters box!

This was my first and last box,I was so disappointed in the items in person. My cutting board is the size of my palm and completely broke and disintegrated when it was washed (I didn’t see any instructions on the card regarding washing so there should be a disclaimer if it can’t get water in it). The bath item smells great but is sooo crazy messy. The lip item has peppermint oil in it so it burns. The scrubber is the best item but the wood is already getting these weird black marks on it like it won’t last much longer. So disappointed I spent this amount of $ on this box, causebox is way better imo.

This books looks great! Do you know if the lip whip is GF or what is in the editors box?

Reply ButtonReply

Serina

Whoops – forgot to mention that the lip whip is gluten free and vegan! It contains: castor seed oil, 100% cold pressed moringa oil, cocoa butter, candelilla wax, vitamin e, peppermint essential oil, mica, and iron oxide.

Hey B! Serina the founder of Earthlove here. The Editor’s Choice box includes everything from the original curation except that we swapped out the reclaimed skateboard serving boards for a lovely upcycled crossback bib apron from MEEMA. This was my first box. I’ve been eyeing this subscription for awhile while waiting for others to finish first. I was not disappointed. Loved everything and felt the curation is special. Unlike other subscriptions where I feel like I could make up my own box at Marshalls this felt like someone went to a fancy boutique and picked out a selection of special items. I love the mix of items too.

I’ve enjoyed the last couple of boxes but this one was a miss for me. The book is cute and I like the tea. The cookie was okay. The cheese board is beautiful but not something I need or really use. I love bath salts but, for me, the mess I had to clean after was just not worth it and took away from the experience of the soak in the tub. The lip balm is thin but I will use it. Not something I would purchase though. I was excited for the soothing balm because I had a sore muscle in my neck. It didn’t touch the pain at all so I’ll stick with my tiger balm. And my gem juice had almost a mildew type smell to it, definitely not something I’m putting on my body or spraying around my room.

But, even though it’s not my taste this time, it’s still a beautifully crafted box and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next season.

Hi Anne! Serina the founder here. I’m bummed that we missed the mark for you with our Autumn box. Reach out to us at [email protected] and we can replace your hydrosol. It should have a fresh and grounding forest scent and definitely not mildewy!

Your support means the world to us! Next season’s box will feature eleven eco-conscious items and it’s our biggest box yet. Each box will also be supporting the livelihoods of impoverished farmers through the revitalization of degraded lands (as voted on by the Earthlove community 😄)

That’s sweet of you. I will reach out. Thank you! I wasn’t sure if I got a bad one or if it was just my perception of it.

Rena

My hubby would love the cheeseboard if you are interested in selling.
