Grapefruit Classic Candle, 8.1 oz – Retail Value $42.00

Ok, as someone who doesn't buy expensive candles, this box already feels super luxe. This is a larger candle that arrives in a glass votive with frosted stripes. It is very classic looking and would look very pretty in any home. The scent is SO strong! Seriously, I left this in my office overnight unlit and the whole room smelled marvelous the next day, without me ever even lighting the candle. For someone like myself who wants a candle's fragrance to really knock her socks off, consider me barefoot! It smells exactly like a ripe sweet grapefruit in the height of summer, with some softer side notes of green things and white flowers. It is a very summery scent, but there is a herbaceousness in there that makes it feel just as appropriate for early fall. The candle burns very evenly and the flicker of the flame is bright and charming through those frosted stripes.

Grapefruit Reed Diffuser – Retail Value $48.00
I am a little taken aback by the retail value of this diffuser. It is even more expensive than the candle! I will say that the scent power from this diffuser puts all others I have tried to shame, though. Literally, it just takes a few hours for these reeds to soak up the fragrance and totally transform your space. The fragrance liquid comes in a glass bottle with the same frosted stripes that the candle vessel has. Though together they would overpower a room, the coordination is a nice and very classy touch. It arrives with a stopper (so you can reseal the bottle if you would like) and a handful of black reeds. The grapefruit scent is just as bright and lovely in this diffuser as it was with the candle and gave my living room such a clean and energizing vibe.
Verdict: This box has a value of $90 which isn't a huge difference in savings for an $86.00 box, but I don't think major savings is the point with this luxe subscription. Instead of being a big value sort of deal, I think this is maybe the ultimate in treat-yourself boxes or perhaps one of the best gifts (ever!) for someone in your life who loves high-end scents. The presentation and packaging feels extremely special and giftable, and the candle and diffuser are so high-quality. If you are looking for a way to add a little scent and luxury to your home once a month, this might just be a sub for you!
