Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review - October 2020
Another great feature that sets this clothing subscription apart from others is that they have a button on most of their items to "Add to my next Style Plan box." This allows you to select what goes in your Style Plan box without the help of a stylist, or you can take some of the stylist's suggestions but not others. Not every item has this feature, but many do. I've never seen this feature in a styling subscription before, but the fact that it's an option here is part of what made me really love my first experience with Frank And Oak!
My Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review
Cotton Wrap Top in Grey, size small - Retail Value $44.50/Member Price $39.50
I love a good wrap top, but I don't have many because I've found they can be a little hit or miss because the overlap part has to fall just right. To be perfectly honest I didn't love how this top fit the model on Frank And Oak's site, but it felt like a great wardrobe staple for autumn, so I gave it a go. And, I. love. it. This was my first time pulling out my beloved Everlane cords for the season, and with my favorite vintage belt finishing off the look I felt very "me." And, I mean, what better feeling is there from an outfit? In the last image, you can see how this top looks untucked, with no belt on. I'm generally always a shirt-tucker but I think the length of this one—on the shorter side without being cropped at all—lends itself well to either.
The Skyline Reversible Bomber in Rosin, size small - Retail Value $149/Member Price $137.50
Anyone who lives in an area where all four seasons are experienced to the fullest may understand the need for one million jackets and coats. I confess that this is my fourth puffy jacket, but its medium weight and hip length genuinely fills a gap in my outer layer needs! It's perfect for the chillier days of fall in Pennsylvania and is roomy enough to welcome layers underneath through the winter (though when the thick of winter hits, it's a below-the-knee puffer I'm usually reaching for). Beyond the great, versatile olive color and fun reversibility from quilted to smooth, this jacket has some awesome details: it's water repellant, made from recycled plastic bottles, and stuffed with cruelty-free featherless Thermore® Ecodown® filling. And, it's machine washable & OK to be tossed in the dryer. Crucial!
In terms of sizing, I usually wear a Small in tops and Medium in bottoms. So far with the Frank And Oak items I've tried I've found success in size Small Frank And Oak tops & dresses, but for some reason, I was recommended a Medium for this coat. (I'm sure it's indicated somewhere in my size profile and that I can update it.) I manually updated my size to a Small when I added this jacket to my Style Plan box, and I'm glad I did because the fit is boxy and spacious.
I thought I'd call attention to some great details. There is a hang loop on both sides of this jacket, so you can hang it not matter which side is out. The tag you typically find in the neckline (first photo) is easily removable for reversibility. And the tag that gives fabric details and washing instruction is flag-style and can be easily tucked into a pocket so that it isn't noticeable.
The Essential Tee in Chestnut, size small - Retail Value $34.50/Sale Price $29.50
We all know Frank And Oak does T-shirts expertly, but yet I still find myself impressed anew with each one that arrives! I was drawn to the muted purple color of this tee and didn't anticipate how much I'd love the color combo with my favorite cords. As per usual I prefer how the tee looks tucked in, and it does tuck smoothly despite falling at a bit of a longer length. This shirt is 100% organic cotton, what they call their Good Cotton. Meaning it's responsibly grown and harvested using sustainable methods. Yay! I can't wait to see what other drool-worthy color combos this shirt takes part in.
Verdict: I'm so happy! This may be my favorite Style Plan by Frank And Oak box to date. I got three staples that all layer well, fit nicely, and feel great. It's energizing to welcome a new season with a few fresh pieces that feel suited to my current style (which is...pandemic-casual?). Each of these items will be in heavy rotation! And, I'm always enthusiastic about the sustainable practices of this brand, but a jacket made from recycled plastic bottles? That's about as gratifying as it gets!
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Style Plan by Frank And Oak uses your preferences and tastes to curate a mix of styles just for you, so you may have different options than me. You can sign up for your own Style Plan to see what the styling team will pick for you (and/or make some picks for yourself, like I've done each month)!

Value Breakdown: The retail price for the three items I received this month is $228, but with the discounted member pricing it comes to $206.50. That's a savings of $21.50 for this box. My past couple of Style Plan boxes had greater discounts, but that's also because some of the items were on sale on top of the built-in member discount pricing. I personally think the jacket is extremely reasonably priced, and think that it alone is worth the value of this month's box!
