meowbox is a monthly subscription box for cats filled with fun, unique toys, and natural, grain-free, organic, and/or locally-made treats.

FYI, COVID-19 Update: meowbox is currently experiencing some shipping delays. Please allow an extra 5-7 days for delivery! Also, one item from the box was a bit late from the manufacturer this month, so it shipped about a week later than usual.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

They even put your cats' names inside the lid!

meowbox October 2020 Review

meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:

The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a Halloween theme. It did arrive in time for Halloween but I didn't have a chance to play with my kitties with the toys until after that.

On to the items:

The Empurrium Handmade Catnip Toy

This is a felt toy with only catnip (no other stuffing). Monkey wanted to rub his face all over it. I'm glad he enjoyed it, although it didn't really make for interesting photos.

Bone Buddy

This is plush but makes noise (I guess there's a rattle or something inside the head?). The most interesting parts to my kitties were all the bits that dangled off, like the sparkle balls and the little bits of ribbon (which Madison especially liked).

Boo Wand - Retail Value $8 (found here for $6.50)

There's a wand or a finger dangler included in most meowboxes and Sneaky is my wand kitty. True to form, she wrestled with this one for quite a while. This one has several catnip plushes on a string. I do think the wand and string length were both appropriate (some toys get this wrong so I'm happy when it's just the right length).

Treats or More Treats Toy 2-Pack - Retail Value $5 (found here for $4.25)

These are two more felt toys that were custom designed for Meowbox. One has a feather and one doesn't. They also have catnip and no stuffing. Monkey did the same thing with these that he did with the candy corn. I've put them around in the places he hangs out during the day so he can enjoy them further.

Yappetizers Chick-or-Treat (0.56 oz) - Retail Value $4 (found here for $2.50)

It was a few days between when this box arrived and when I could play with the kitties and take photos, and Sneaky spent that entire time trying to get into this box and I'm pretty sure these treats were the reason why. They are just freeze-dried chicken. One other time, meowbox sent freeze-dried chicken in a bag and Sneaky knocked it off the shelf and ate all the chicken, so you could say she is a fan. Madison just wanted to rub his face on them. Monkey was interested as well. Sneaky will end up eating most of them.

Kitty pictures:

(Madison is black, Sneaky is calico, and Monkey is tan and white.)

Verdict: I couldn't calculate a total value for October’s meowbox because some of the items weren't yet for sale in their shop. This was a cute box with a cute theme and my cats liked the toys, so that's great. Sneaky was a huge fan of the treats and will end up eating most of them. I feel like this is definitely a representative month for this subscription with a handmade toy, some high-quality single-ingredient treats, and several custom items.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It is too late for the October box, so your subscription would likely start with November, but you can buy some of the individual items from the meowbox store; just click the links above for the ones that are available at this time.

Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the subscription plus free shipping, you are paying approximately $4.59 per item.

I love that they hand write the kitty names I side the lid, I think that is such a nice touch! Your kitties are all so gorgeous, and those pictures of them are just precious. I love the ones of you giving them the treats, the eating actions shots of their darling faces. I just discovered freeze dried treats for my three cats. Well, I probably tried them before but my cats have been more willing to explore different textures lately and they love freeze dried chicken and salmon treats. Such a cute box for such sweet kitties.

So glad I unpaused for this month’s box – our cats love it, especially the treats and the Bone Buddy – even 16-year-old Daisy keeps grabbing and rolling around with it. 🙂

I love the photo of Sneaky with the dangler toy. She looks so over it.
