  • Choose 3 faves from a personalized set of the most-coveted brands
  • Get exclusive access to the hottest launches before anyone else

Full details from Ipsy:

It’s time to get even more of the beauty you love, want, and can’t get enough of—because treating yourself a little extra is always a good idea. That’s why we’re totally over the moon to introduce the all-new Glam Bag X, a quarterly, limited edition upgrade to your monthly IPSY membership. Think of it as your all-access pass to the most-coveted brands, hottest launches, and need-to-try products in beauty. Your Glam Bag X includes seven to eight full-size products (worth up to $350) specially curated by beauty’s biggest tastemakers and celebs, and you’ll even get to choose three from a personalized assortment—which, BTW, includes dibs on exclusive product drops you won’t find anywhere else.

Every limited-edition Glam Bag X is curated by a different celeb, with the debut drop presented by none other than Patrick Ta, world-renowned makeup artist to the stars. He’s the artist behind some of Hollywood’s glowiest goddesses, like Shay Mitchell, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Olivia Munn, Kourtney Kardashian, and...well, that star-studded list pretty much speaks for itself. If you’re already wondering how you can get your hands on Glam Bag X, don’t worry—we’ve got everything you need to know below. Glam Bag X is only for IPSY members, so be sure you have Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus in order to unlock your upgrade!

What can I expect from my first Glam Bag X?

Glam Bag X is our most extra Glam Bag yet, and the first drop of this quarterly upgrade will ship in February 2021. Since it features seven to eight full-size products from the hottest brands, all curated by a mega celeb, quantities are limited—but you can reserve your spot while there’s still space.

A new Glam Bag X will drop in February, May, August, and November (yes, mark your calendar now!). During those months, your Glam Bag X replaces your usual monthly bag, either your Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus; if you have both, it replaces your Glam Bag Plus. Your Glam Bag X is valued at up to $350 and is only an additional $43/shipment for Glam Bag members and $30/shipment for Glam Bag Plus members. Talk about an amazing value, right?

You’ll love this part, too—during each upgrade month, you’ll get to build your perfect Glam Bag X during Ultra Personalization starting on the 2nd at 9 a.m. ET until the 3rd at 6 p.m. ET. Here’s how it works: First, you discover your four to five celeb-curated picks. Then, you handpick three more full-size products from a personalized assortment of Glam Bag X exclusives and first-of-a-kind new product launches that could include tools, accessories, and a themed Glam Bag. And finally, you complete Ultra Personalization with incredible deals on product Add-Ons.

How do I get Glam Bag X?

Glam Bag X is available as a quarterly upgrade for Glam Bag and Glam Bag Plus members, so if you already have one (or both!) of those bags, simply visit the Glam Bag X tab and click on the “GET GLAM BAG X” button.

If you don’t have Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus yet, get started by taking the Beauty Quiz and telling us about your beauty preferences. Once you’re done with the quiz, you’ll have the option of signing up for Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus. After you’ve made your choice and become a member, log into your account and visit the Glam Bag X tab. All that’s left to do is click the “GET GLAM BAG X” button, and voilà—you just scored the most-coveted membership in beauty.

What is the difference between Glam Bag, Glam Bag Plus, and Glam Bag X?

Glam Bag includes five deluxe-size beauty samples (one you choose yourself) valued at over $50 for just $12/month. Glam Bag Plus includes five full-size products (three you choose yourself) valued at over $120 for just $25/month.

Glam Bag X is only available to members with a monthly Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus plan. Glam Bag X is a quarterly, limited-edition upgrade that includes seven to eight full-size products (three you choose yourself) that feature the trendiest brands and exclusive launches—and it’s all specially curated by a mega celeb. During upgrade months (February, May, August, and November), Glam Bag X replaces your usual monthly bag, so you score up to $350 in value for just an additional $43/shipment for Glam Bag members and $30/shipment for Glam Bag Plus members.

When will my Glam Bag X ship?

Already looking forward to getting that baby in the mail? Can’t blame ya. Glam Bag X ships four times per year (AKA every three months) in February, May, August, and November. The debut Glam Bag x Patrick Ta will ship in February and replace your monthly Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus. As with your monthly bag, Glam Bag X ships shortly after you’re billed successfully on the last day of the preceding month, and you can expect it to arrive approximately two weeks after billing.

How are my products selected for me?

Your Glam Bag X includes seven to eight full-size products curated by one of beauty’s biggest tastemakers. The featured curator of the month hand-selects four to five of your products, and you choose the remaining three from a personalized assortment that features Glam Bag X exclusives. Your exclusives can include early access to new products, hot launches, and all those other FOMO-worthy beauty moments that you need to get in on.

When do I get to choose my Glam Bag X products?

During Glam Bag X months, you’ll get to choose three of your full-size products starting on the 2nd at 9 a.m. ET until the 3rd at 6 p.m. ET. Set your alarm, circle the dates on your calendar, write a sticky note—do what you need to do so you don’t miss out!

Ready to go extra? We got you. Be the first on the list and reserve your spot before we run out—Glam Bag x Patrick Ta quantities are limited.

I actually liked Glambag Ultimate and am sad to see it go. I am not sure I want to get the Glambag X. I would be paying $5 more for X than Ultimate. Receiving 4 less products and only every three months. Plus, on the months we’re supposed to receive Glambag X, we won’t receive our regular glambag. So I don’t know.

This seems very makeup heavy by the looks of the pic, which I wouldn’t be into. I’m worried if I don’t sign up now though I might not be able to get a “spot” later on since it says it’s “limited quantities”.

I am giving it a shot for the first quarterly and then will decide from there…. at the first sign/hint of Kardashian wares I’m out.

Considering Khloe Kardashian is their new Brand Ambassador…. it’s going to be Kylie Skincare overload no doubt!

Yeah, just wait for the KKW and Kylie Cosmetics curations….🙄🤮

Does anyone know how much the refreshments will be. I am not interested in the wipes but lotions I like. New X bag can wait until I see what others are getting, but I never signed up for ultimate probably won’t for X. Maybe I’m just not that excited anymore.

Erin

So how many Kardashian or Jenner products will be in each bag? Celeb-curated products = Kardashian/Jenner to me. No thanks.

Reply ButtonReply

Dana

I’ve wanted to try Patrick Ta products and I like his aesthetic so I will give it a try. February is always a cold, depressing month here haha so hopefully it will be a nice treat. I hope they always announce who they are collaborating with. I want a box curated by a makeup artist, a tik tok star not so much

I’m not buying it, this seems like a super cash grab (even more than usual). There are several red flags for me.

1. 7-8 full size items for $55 Ultimate is 8 full size and 4 samples for $50. That’s one full size and 4 samples sizes less for $5 more! I know there is a range, but honestly how often do we get the higher number of items in subs? It’s always the bare minimum promised.

2. Celeb-curated. Yes, Patrick Ta is hot right now and has a line at Sephora. His products are all based around glow though. For me, who is super oily, none of his products have been tempting because I know they won’t wear well on my skin and even if they do, I’ll still feel self-conscious that I look oily, not glowy.

3. MOST IMPORTANT! “includes dibs on exclusive product drops you won’t find anywhere else.” I.E. Ipsy branded products. Remember how upset people were with Tetris, Betty Boop & Gigi Gorgeous? Now we get the privilege of them in a more expensive bag!

Customization for Plus so far has sucked for me. Every month it’s choose an eyeliner, mascara or lip gloss. I don’t wear any of them often enough to get one every month. Other choices are three of the same item in different colors, of a product that I have never rated highly. I don’t think they are taking our profiles into consideration at all. So now I’ll be stuck with a more expensive bag of things I wouldn’t willingly choose? I actually didn’t choose one month and let them pick the other three, I was fairly happy with the two choices, but they disappeared when I didn’t make any choices and I was sent other random things.

Thanks for saving me $$$ Aidan! The math is not working out in their favor

Reply ButtonReply

Aidan

Ahh! You’re welcome! Glad my rambling message made sense!

Hallie Gottlieb

Great points. Plus if you get GBP for 25 you get 5 full sized products. We pay $30 more for just 2 more items? 2! Maybe 3 on occasion

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

I’ll stick with my little regular Glam Bag. I realized that I like to buy my own full size items. After a few months of Boxycharm I have a bunch of stuff that doesn’t suit me, which feels wasteful. Looking forward to picking some stuff up off eBay and Mercari though lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

Well, I’m in it for February at least, if for no other reason than I expect Ipsy to knock the first box out of the park. Also, I really like Patrick Ta’s products. After February…I’m on product overload and was already planning to cancel Ipsy in the new year, so it depends on how Ipsy would handle skips. If I could skip the months I would get the regular glam bag, then I’d probably keep my subscription for just for the GBX months, but I suspect Ipsy’s not going to let people do that.

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

Well, I signed up. We’ll see how the first one is and go from there. Hopefully the inaugural one is impressive to hook us in.

I have regular Ipsy, and my confirmation is that they will bill in February, if anyone is concerned it charges immediately.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

We’ll see. I signed up for it. (I mean, I’ve been in the trenches with the Plus & Ultimate launches; how could I leave this amazing opportunity behind?)

I guess I picked the right month to re-sub to Ultimate; along with the notification that Ultimate was ending & the offer to sign up for Ipsy X, I was offered a 111Skin cream for signing up.

The email also had the first spoilers for the box — Patrick Ta Beauty Monochrome Blush OR Patrick Ta Beauty Brow shaping wax + brush.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

It also says the first Glam Bag X will be worth “up to $698”. (Not sure if that includes the bonus 111Skin product they say is worth $270 or not! 😂)

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

Where is 111Skin even sold in real life? It seems like this brand was made for the sole purpose of inflating sub box retail values.

Lynda

Makeup86 ~ 111 Skin is very expensive but they are not inflating the prices just for this. Check their website. The cream does retail for $270 so that is what they add to the value of the bag. Maybe you or I would not pay that much for a moisturizer, but it is what it is. And as far as La Mer being better for the price, that is purely your own opinion. Others may not feel the same.

Makeup86

The prices that are claimed for 111 Skin seem to exist to inflate the “value” of these bags. You’d think it was La Mer for the prices claimed. The silly prices make me trust the brand a whole lot less! I trust my K beauty skincare and The Ordinary so much more.

Moongoddess81

Why did I think Ipsy was on the way out because Boxycharm is superior? It would have made more sense for Ipsy to absorb Birchbox! Idk, if I had to choose between Boxy and Ipsy, I’d choose Boxy because they’ve always had better products. Lately, I am sick of the games though. You only get decent stuff if you PURCHASE IT at popup sales…

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

I completely disagree with your statement. Boxy is far from superior to Ipsy. Boxy has a lot of learning to do still. Like, figure out how to implement profiles. They keep claiming they are working on it, but I’ve yet to see it in play.

Reply ButtonReply

Heidi

I am going to pass until the pandemic is over. I don’t go out as much and I can’t justify an upgrade until things are a bit more normal.

Reply ButtonReply

Jill

Same! Right now I’m using skincare, but not really makeup. And I have enough stuff built up that I’m not using that I doubt I’ll need more by February (as it looks like it will be makeup-based).

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

I was initially feeling kinda tempted, but now I’m thinking maybe just not. I’ve been reading everyone’s comments. The point about the items per price thing resonated with me quite a bit, for one thing.

I’m also thinking I may not keep Boxyluxe after next month. I’m not convinced there is really great value in these quaterly upgrade replacement boxes for me. If I were to keep both Ipsy GB and Boxycharm, it might make sense to use the extra money toward specific pop-up items I might want. I’ll continue to think it over.

Alice

Wise decision.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley C

Changing ultimate was definitely due. I’ll probably give it a shot though, once I see some spoilers. It was a good idea to wait until February after the holidays to kick it off! I also think the celebrity thing is pointless, I could be wrong but I think ipsy kind of sells itself or through word of mouth…but what to I know lol

Reply ButtonReply

dia

7-8 full size products for $55 as compared with 5 full size products for $25 with the Plus? I think this is an improvement upon the Ultimate; no one needs that much stuff every month, but value-wise, I’d rather get a Regular an a Plus for $37 than an X for $55.

Reply ButtonReply

Kenley

Just FYI, if you skipped your November GBU like I did and signed up for this box this morning, Ipsy will charge you for the November GBU. When you sign up, it does not say they will bill you for this month’s box. I have emailed them to reverse the charge. Hopefully, they will. I did not want any of those products from the Nov GBU.

Reply ButtonReply

Jayme Kershaw

I have no Idea how this happened but somehow I was charged $47 extra without ever authorizing it. I have an annual glam bag membership, and then I think it’s called the glam bag plus. Whatever the second tier one is… And then somehow I got charged 44 extra dollars. I’ve gone through my emails I’ve been looking for hours trying to figure out why in the hell I was charged for this. I am so mad. This is crazy. I never would have authorized that. I don’t have a job currently and I skipped last month because I don’t have money to pay for it. This is a scam. I’m so upset. I’ve been with Ipsy for it years and I’ve never had anything like this happen. I totally feel like I’ve been scammed.

Reply ButtonReply

Steph

I’d like to see this as an option without needing to have a monthly plan also. I currently have glam bag plus but I’m quickly accumulating too many products and a quarterly bag with 7-8 items would probably be the perfect solution. It would be nice if Ipsy offered that. For now, I’m just going to stick with my glam bag plus and see what the first one of this new X looks like and maybe then I’ll decide to do it, but probably not.

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

Yes, I would welcome a quarterly option from Ipsy. I am ready to cancel my regular bag because I am on sample-size overload, and I don’t need the five full-size products a month GBP offers. A quarterly option would rally suit my needs, but I don’t think Ipsy would do it because they would lose subscribers (like me) from their other tiers.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

Cancel your basic bag. Keep your gbp, but skip non gbx months. Problem solved.

Valerie

I have gotten every single Ultimate box. This is REPLACING the Ultimate- they are CANCELLING ULTIMATE after December for those of us who got the email because we are Ultimate. I actually get all three tiers…..this is REPLACING Ultimate. So for $55 every three months INSTEAD of $50 every month and each box is valued at over $350. Ultimate subscribers got the email not sure how this is a bad thing! I’m going for it!

Reply ButtonReply

Steph

I have Plus so this means if I choose this, I will not receive my 5 items for $25 in Feb but will receive 7-8 items for $55?

So 2 or 3 more items for an additional $30?!

If this is the case I will need to see some amazing new spoilers and not the normal stuff. I’d expect Elemis or CT. If it’s the normal or old items then it’s better to just get 2 Plus boxes and get 10 items for less money!?!?

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

Well, one of the pictured items is a $65 palette (Huda’s Rose Gold Remastered), so I think they are trying to include more big-ticket items in this box. I agree that for the price-per-item I would want to see some more “luxe” items compared to the brands featured in GBP.

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

They changed which demographic they are catering to from what it was over the last 4 years to what it is now. Which is no longer for us 35+ crowd. Well, the majority of us anyway. I’m sure plenty of people of all ages love celebrity influences, tik tok whatevers(I’ve never had a tik tok and never will) and the Dash Klan. I personally am ready for Pop Culture beauty to fade out. Beauty should influence celebrities and social media stars. Not the other way around.

Ipsy sold out and I opted out.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

That is correct. Caveat emptor.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

I’m with you. I don’t know if 7 or 8 products is worth $55 to me. I felt about the same in regards to the Ultimate at $50, getting 8 full-size items and 4 sample sizes, when you could instead get 2 plus bags for the same cost and get 10 full size items.

I really hope they’ve got some real luxe brands lined up for this. I couldn’t care less about “celeb-curated” and care much more about quality and/or high-end products. I don’t think I will be signing up for this upgrade right away and might see how it looks before making a decision on it.

Reply ButtonReply

Steph

Yup, they lost credibility for me when they mentioned celebs. I do not buy any influencer or celebrity brands. I actually find it confusing, isn’t their actual target 35+ women. I know as a 40 year old that if Kim K promotes it, I’m smart enough not to believe I need it too or follow the hype/trend.
I’m okay taking a gamble with $25 but $55….probably not. Will there be a guarantee of no blk liners, mascaras and highlighters?! I spend 50 on boxwalla and BH but not knowing what I’ll get…..the more I think about it, the more I’m not into this.

tammy g.

well, ipsy has started its boxycharm right off the new year…..

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

My thought as well. Nothing, absolutely nothing, about X is new, innovative, exciting, or of any must-have value. In fact, the entire concept reeks of stale.

Reply ButtonReply

Lynda

Unless of course you don’t subscribe to Boxy.

Also Beth

To me the “celebrity” aspect just raises a big flag because it feels likely that we’ll be seeing a lot of lower-quality celeb-branded products. This would be way more exciting to me if they were, say, working with celebrity MAKEUP ARTISTS or specific brands each quarter – even if they weren’t as well-known, we would know that the curation was there (rather than that same old same old “here, have a chalky color cosmetic in an unflattering shade” thing we usually see with their TikTok and YouTube collabs.

Reply ButtonReply

KatKat

the first box is with patrick Ta who is kind of a big deal celeb make up artist. he works with the hadid sisters and has a line of makeup products sold at sephora. would be amazing to have a few of his products included in the box.

Cinthia

I actually saw some spoilers on instagram and Patrick’s blushes and brow wax will be featured on the first GBX.

Kim

Agreed!

I signed up because why not but I didn’t stick with ultimate but it will be interesting to see the Patrick Ta picks.

I just googled Ipsy X and use the link.

When you go to upgrade it says

“ Active Glam Bag and Glam Bag Plus members are eligible to get Glam Bag X. Paused and Every Other Month members must become active, monthly members before signing up for Glam Bag X.
*Glam Bag X is available in the U.S., & U.S. Territories. U.S. shipping is free. Taxes will apply to all orders shipped within the U.S.”

It also says “ FYI: You won’t be charged until you’re confirmed to receive the next Glam Bag X”

I have a few questions about this new bag?

– If I only want Bag X, can I sign up for regular or plus bag and just keep skipping them except month of bag x?
– “assortment of Glam Bag X exclusives and first-of-a-kind new product launches” – does it mean ipsy collaborations? If yes, then it is no good at all. It just “exclusive launches” does not give me good feels.
– Items that included in Bag X will they be part of add on too?
