Bespoke Post "Flame" Review

I have seen the Flame option on Bespoke Post before and it has always intrigued me. It seemed like such a cool novelty-type item, but I wasn't really sure what its purpose would be. Now that I have one, I have a few ideas!

15 Match Sticks by Ash & Fir

I'm going to start with these because they are what they are. A cute set of 15 long matches in a nice cardboard tube with a match strike on the bottom from Ash & Fir which is their in-house brand. These are handy, but I didn't end up using them since the recommended lighting method for our "fireplace" was a long-handled lighter. Still a nice inclusion, though!

Agh! The packaging was a bit overwhelming! The box had little notes and warnings all over it and there was a full little fold-out sheet of all the warnings. Unboxing this fireplace was definitely an experience, and kind of an intimidating one! I do really appreciate their attention to safety though and how specific the instructions were.

Personal Cement Fireplace by FLIKR (I couldn't find this exact version, but the FLIKR2 retails for $95.00!)

Now, how pretty is that little fireplace? It is covered in some dust, which will patina over time, but overall, this heavy, round cement fireplace is very clean looking. It comes with an MDF trivet that it fits perfectly on which will help with heat transfer and the trivet itself has felt on the bottom so it won't scratch the surfaces that it's placed on. It measures about 4-inches high and has a diameter of just under 5-inches. In the center of the fireplace is a deep hole where you can put 70% isopropyl alcohol, which burns cleanly and is safe to cook over.

I followed the instructions and filled it up with alcohol (to 1 inch from the top) and used my long-handled lighter to set it on fire. You can see the flames actually got pretty high! I was impressed with the heat it put off, too. It has about a 45-minute burn-time, so it's a good option when you just want a quick fire!

It did work very well for roasting a marshmallow! Although it was a little tough to find the sweet spot since the diameter is a bit smaller than a campfire and the height of the flames was a bit inconsistent at first.

Here it is in action. So what is this little fireplace good for? I can see us using this to safely roast marshmallows inside and maybe even outside if we don't have the means to build a larger fire. It also can provide a nice ambiance for a romantic dinner, which again could be either indoors or outdoors. Since it puts off just a bit of heat and has a relatively short burn time, it was nice for a quick fire indoors that we could enjoy without the hassle of grabbing firewood, stoking the fire, etc. I'm sure we will discover some more uses, but that's what I see us using it for in our home!

Verdict: Bespoke Post is such a fun, unique subscription. I love getting to choose each month and they have such quality items. This indoor fireplace is beautiful and well-made and I know we will enjoy using it! While I appreciated the matches they sent, it would have been so fun to include some specialty marshmallows! While I wasn't able to find the retail value of this exact version, I feel like the $48.95 ($45 + $3.95 shipping) cost of this box is worth it. This would make a great gift for someone who enjoys the ambiance of fires, but doesn't have a fireplace. Just don't forget the marshmallows!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! The Flame box featuring the miniature indoor fireplace is still available.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $45 + $3.95 shipping, but retails for $150, which is over $100 in savings!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Anyone get their black boxes? Mine is the premium and it is on its way! Would love to know what everyone got in both boxes. I almost went for a second one but didn’t. Hoping for good stocking stuffers!

I have been wanting this for a long time. It was $75 in their shop. I was so excited to get this as a monthly box! I love mine!! A heads up.. there is a company that sells stuffed puffs marshmallows. Marshmallows with chocolate inside them. For winter they have chocolate marshmallows with peppermint inside. These work perfectly with the Flame burner. The chocolate got gooey without leaking out, i wish i had bought 2 burners.

Imagine being excited to spend $45 on matches that cost $1 that aren’t used for the item and a piece of cement with a hole in it. These boxes are a on overpriced failure.

I disagree, but respectfully! Lol
Unless you are a DIY person. And could make one yourself..-This piece of “cement” with a hole in it is really cool. I wish I had thought to come up with it and sell it. These sell for $95 and only recently came back in stock.

I currently have this in my cart to be my December box, so this review was perfect timing for me. It looks like a lot of fun and I have no space for an outdoor fire, so I think this will work well.

I have one for a gift, but I’m concerned it’s a fire hazard. Does anyone that’s already used it have feedback? It looks so cool, but I worry. It’s for my 25 year old son. Thanks!

Hi Cay, the burn time is not very long, and once the alcohol is gone there is no risk so it’s fairly safe in the sense of forgetting to put it out – you can also snuff it out if you need to by covering the hole. As for the flames, as long as they don’t use it near a curtain or something low-hanging it should be safe. There are no embers or anything like that to pop out from the flames and the base id pretty heavy and would be difficult to tip over. If you have a more specific concern I’m happy to answer any other questions you have! As long as it’s used responsibly and is monitored when children are around it seems safe to me! Hopefully that helps some! 🙂

please also monitor when pets are around.

I got my unit right as the covid epidemic started and couldn’t find isopropyl alcohol anywhere. Will have to check how readily available it is now. If so, I’m ready for marshmallows!

I loved your review and I’m so glad I got this for my son-in-law for Christmas. My grandkids will love making s’mores with it. I think I’ll put a s’mores kit with it. Great idea!

I’m glad you gave this a positive review because it’s currently wrapped under the tree for my husband! We don’t have a fireplace, and I’m thinking this will be great for quarantined date nights at home when the kids are in bed. And the video was a great addition to the review, thank you for including it!
