CurlBox x PATTERN Curly Hair Box November 2020 Review
Here is the info sheet for the products included.
PATTERN Hydration Shampoo, 9.8 oz - Retail Value $20.00
This is the first time I’ve received a matching shampoo and conditioner where the shampoo is slightly smaller, and I praise Tracee Ellis Ross for it. Every time my hair gets wet I use conditioner, but I only shampoo my hair once a week. This small detail really adds to my belief that this brand truly knows and understands curly hair – especially when I used this shampoo and my hair wasn’t dried out or more tangled like it is with most other shampoos I have tried.
PATTERN Medium Conditioner - For Curlies, 13 oz - Retail Value $25.00
PATTERN features three different conditioners depending on your curl type – they also have a “heavy” and “intensive” conditioner for coily and tight textures. I actually had just purchased this conditioner a few weeks before receiving this box, but I’m happy to already have a backup – it works great for my hair. It has a texture similar to the deep conditioners made by brands not catering to curly hair, and I only need a little bit to coat all of my strands. I have a ton of unopened deep conditioners in my arsenal, but this curl-specific heavy conditioner is what I have been consistently reaching for since receiving it.
PATTERN Leave-In Conditioner, 9.8 oz - Retail Value $25.00
This showing up in the box was serendipitous – I already own this leave-in conditioner, and I was almost completely out of it when this box arrived. The leave-in conditioner is actually what made me fall in love with this brand – it’s the first product from the brand I tried, and it’s lightweight texture adds moisture to my hair without weighing it down. I apply it to wet hair right when I step out of the shower (even before I towel dry my hair), and with my consistent use, I have noticed that my curls are softer and tangle less frequently.
PATTERN Jojoba Hair Oil Serum, 3.9 oz - Retail Value $25.00
Oil is a non-negotiable styling product for me – it helps my curls to shine and retain their moisture. The ingredient list on this oil serum is fabulous – it’s made with safflower, jojoba, and rosehip oil, and it’s lightly scented with lavender oil. This is safe for dry scalps as well, though those who don’t have curly hair may be horrified at the idea of leave-in scalp oil. Greasiness is never a problem for my curls, and I appreciate the large size of this product – most oils come in smaller packaging.
PATTERN Hair Clip - Retail Value $10.00
I never use hair clips for the sole reason that my hair is too heavy and long that most hair clips can’t handle it. Not the case with this one – it is large enough to comfortably keep all of my curls gathered in one spot, and it makes drying my hair so much easier when I clip it to the top of my head and air dry. This is made of premium acetate and is designed to be durable, but if something happens to it I definitely would repurchase.
PATTERN Shower Brush - Retail Value $17.00
This shower brush was interesting – I usually use a Wet Brush, which has a bit of give when brushing through wet hair in the shower. This brush has no give whatsoever, so it takes me longer to brush through each section of curls – but I also lose less hair using this brush compared to my Wet Brush. I love keeping my curls healthy, so taking longer to brush out my hair is a sacrifice I’m willing to make. Plus, this has a rubber pad that can be removed to easily deep clean your brush of hair and product.
Verdict: I cannot say enough great things about this box. I was able to restock on two products I absolutely love while trying two more products that were new to me that I also love – for the price of just the leave-in conditioner. Boxes curated specifically for curly hair are rare, and even then usually the box doesn’t feel like it truly “gets” curly hair. Not the case here –the team at Curl Box and Pattern knew exactly what they were doing, and my curls are much happier and healthier because of it. Value-wise, everything in this box adds up to $122, which is an absolute steal for the $25 cost and the quality of the products. Honestly, I regret not buying a second box.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you order today? No. Unfortunately, this is sold out.

- Medium Conditioner: $5.12
- Leave-in Conditioner: $5.12
- Jojoba Hair Oil Serum: $5.12
