This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2020 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Ipsy Glam Bag December 2020 Review

Card Open for the Ipsy Glam Bag December 2020

Included is a card that usually details each of the items but also outlines beauty tips and tricks, as well as an exciting introduction for the upcoming Glam Bag X! I, for one, am super intrigued by this new 2021 introduction by Ipsy.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's theme is "Home For The Holidays." This bag reminds me of a cozy teddy hoodie I love to snuggle up in on chilly nights.

GRACE & STELLA Lavender Body Lotion, 30 mL - Estimated Value $5.00 (Buy a full-size 473 mL for $17.00)

This winter has been an especially "drying" year for me. With all the hand sanitizer and cleansers, I have been using to combat these newfound super germs in our apocalyptic world, it literally feels like my hands are sandpaper. This Grace & Stella Lavender Body Lotion feels incredibly hydrating and is helping to nourish my skin throughout these colder months. The product is thick and creamy with a nice light scent. It goes on smooth and absorbs fast, leaving behind no greasy feeling. I'm not the hugest fan of lavender, but this lotion is scented perfectly and not at all assaulting to my sinuses. Formulated with cocoa seed butter, this beautifully scented body cream fortifies and protects skin to help you hold in moisture for up to 12 hours.

HEY HONEY Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum, 10 mL - Estimated Value $16.00 (Buy a full-size 30 mL for $48.00)

I love serums. I especially love any serum, or skincare product for that matter, that incorporates honey into their formula. Hey Honey's Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum is a luxurious, lightweight, smooth serum that is infused with the natural healer, honey, to speed up cell growth and leave skin looking soft, glowing, and bright. I love how this lightweight serum absorbs quickly into my skin to deliver intense hydration and nourishment. This product makes my skin feel so silky smooth and soft... It's almost heavenly. Even though it's light, it packs a punch of hydration and leaves my face feeling great.

ILLAMASQUA Skin Base Foundation in 12, 7 ml - Estimated Value $8.26 (Buy a full-size 30 ml for $35.41)

Illamasqua's Skin Base Foundation in 12 is wonderfully lightweight and blends beautifully without leaving a thick or cakey look on your skin. I love how wonderfully natural feeling this foundation is. Unfortunately, I think the tone is a little too light for my skin, but the formula is to die for. It smoothes, softens, and conditions skin, providing nourishment while helping cover up redness, breakouts, or hyperpigmentation. It's like wearing a flawless second skin. I'm thinking I will mix this color with a darker foundation and create a perfect winter foundation tone for myself.

Preventive Measures 101 After Hours Lip Balm in Passion Fruit, 0.15 oz, FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $7.00

The scent of this Preventative Measures 101 After Hours Lip Balm in Passion Fruit is absolutely divine. It reminds me of the delicious Hi-Chew tropical flavored candies. I am obsessed with lip balm, lip scrubs, lip masks, anything that keeps my lips from feeling dry and chappy. This lip balm is wonderful. Very hydrating but not greasy. It glides on smooth and stays that way, with no residual stickiness. It's long-lasting with moisture release technology that will keep your winter pucker smooth and hydrated for hours. Specially formulated with antioxidants and fruit oils, this lip balm has the added benefit of extra nourishment without a waxy finish.

BENEFIT COSMETICS Precisely, My Brow Neutral Deep Brown 4.5 Eyebrow Pencil, 0.025 g - Estimated Value $7.50 (Buy a full-size 0.08 g for $24.00)

Benefit Cosmetics really hit it out of the park with this Precisely, My Brow Neutral Deep Brown 4.5 Eyebrow Pencil. I love the custom control grip and the ultra-fine tip that allows me to get precise hairlike lines with each stroke. I've always been a huge fan of Benefit products in general, and this color is a perfect match for my brows. I only wish it had a spoolie or eyebrow brush on the end, as my bushy brows tend to get a little unruly. The product applies smoothly and is perfect for creating long horizontal strokes to help shape your brows and short upward strokes to fill in any thinner patches.

Makeup Look for Ipsy Glam Bag December 2020

Here is an everyday look I created using the Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Neutral Deep Brown 4.5 Eyebrow Pencil, and the Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 12.

Verdict: I think this month's Ipsy Glam Bag was good, but I, however, expected a bit more. I guess I've been spoiled by Ipsy Christmases past. The December bags always seemed to have a little extra oomph. That being said, there were still some great products in this month's bag. The Preventative Measures 101 After Hours Lip Balm in Passion Fruit smells wonderful and hydrates beautifully, perfect for a winter-themed bag. I love the Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum. The luxurious, super lightweight, and the silky smooth honey-infused formula is absolutely divine. The Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 12 is a great product and an award-winning foundation, beloved by makeup artists, makeup gurus, and makeup lovers alike. Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Neutral Deep Brown 4.5 Eyebrow Pencil is a great practical everyday product to include in this bag. No matter what, I will always be in need of brow products. Lastly, the Grace & Stella Lavender Body Lotion is perfect to combat the winter weather sucking away the moisture from our skin, with its extreme hydrating formula that leaves your skin feeling baby soft. This month had a value estimated at $43.76. Since this is a $12 subscription, you do get your money's worth. All in all, this wasn't a bad bag; it just wasn't a magical Christmas spectacular wonder surprise.

I got that lip balm a few months ago and it is wonderful. It really stays on your lips and doesn’t dry them out. I remember looking the company up and it was formulated for her mother with cancer. How awesome is that?

Wow! I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing Jody❤️

I keep checking MSA for the Feb. bag spoilers and some items have been shown for Feb too. Nothing?? Someone who has the account needs to login and get those pictures to show here. I saw them hours ago but yet, nothing on here yet.

Did the lip balm have an overwhelming soap taste to anyone else? I want to love it because v it smells great and it’s SO effective, but I absolutely can’t use it within four hours of eating or drinking!

Okay so technically, I’m not an Ipsy Glam bag sub. I sub tot he glam Bag Plus. But i’m sticking my two cents in here to give praise for the 101 After Hours Lip Balm in Passion Fruit,. Love…love…love this balm! I had it as an add-on to my plus bag along with a rose quarts facial roller because I’m also obsessed with lip products and my bag was very makeup heavy. this is my first month signing up and I missed the choice period so they curated for me. I’m a lip/skin care girl so someone on my list is gonna have a makeup palozah for a gift.

anyway, this balm is the best i’ve used so far. It stays put, smells great, tastes delish and moisturized the heck out of my lips. I’m gonna need more. Maybe they’ve got it in peach or strawberry.

Awesome! You will love the Ipsy Plus once you catch choice day tomorrow. I love getting to select three items, it makes the plus one of the best Ipsy subscriptions IMO.

Your brows look great, Naomi!

I’d recommend contacting Ipsy customer service if you have an issue with a complection product shade that flat-out will not work for you. They’re likely to at least give you points.

Reply ButtonReply

Naomi Pandolfi

Seriously, thanks Marion! I have shade issues with some of the products quite a bit. I have been thinking of listing a darker skin tone on my profile and see if that helps lol.

I still haven’t got my bag this month, which is unusual since they usually come on time for me. They did mail me an add on I got a couple months ago and a huge box, and I had wondered why they didn’t just send the bag at the same time. Maybe they meant to?

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

Ipsy is a huge company and they are probably processed differently, at different locations even. A lot of logistics doesn’t make sense from an outside perspective.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I checked the tracking, since I got the mailed out email ages ago, and it looks like there was a delay. It’s been sitting in a city in my state since the 21st. So I might have to wait, but it looks like it’s just a victim of the recent shipping problems almost everyone is having. It should arrive eventually.

I still think it’s hilarious they sent such a huge box for the highlighter though, vs. a bubble mailer. I’m guessing they had complaints about them arriving broken, because it was packed so well.

Rachel

Bag twins (with a different foundation shade). This was my first regular glam bag but I have been a GBP subscriber for several months. Although I missed choice, I thought Ipsy did a great job choosing for me! I would love to try this foundation in the right shade for me. The one they chose was a little too yellow and made my skin look sallow. I do think it is very difficult for them to pick the right shades for people given there are only so many variations to the box. I threw my sample yesterday and did not think about mixing it with another color! That is a great idea.

Naomi Pandolfi

I feel you Rachel, any foundation I get is usually just a little off lol. Mixing with another shade or using as cover up sometimes helps me get use out of the product👍🏾

Liz

I got this exact same bag and also loved the foundation formula. Blends in very quickly and smoothly. A great product discovery that I’ll be purchasing in a full size once I have the need to start wearing foundation again

Annette

The products look amazing on you, as someone else stated “you are Glowing”!!!

I agree! I love the Hey Honey Serum too. I was introduced to it through Ipsy several years ago and I’ve re-purchased it over and over again. Ulta sells it online too and I’ve even caught it through the FabFitFun sales. I use it as a make up primer too and it works great.

Reply ButtonReply

Aidan

Ulta will have it on sale this month! It’s part of their love your skin event, so it’s only one day. I have a bottle already and enough serum for a couple years, but I’m so tempted nonetheless!

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

I agree! I absolutely love this serum – it was a great surprise in my bag. It is the first time trying this little gem and now I am on a quest to get a full size on sale or discounted. (Even though I think this serum is well worth full price!)

Prettypony

I will have to keep a look out for it Fab Fit Fun or maybe Boxy charm. The skin around my eyes gets really sensitive sometimes. This really helped to soothe it. It felt like velvet on my skin! I keep going on how awesome it was <3

Mel

You are glowing! Is that from the serum, the foundation, or something else? You look amazing.

Reply ButtonReply

Naomi

OMG Mel & Abby ❤️❤️❤️thank you! I don’t have a secret sauce recipe or anything lol but it’s the serum. I am a serum and sheet mask fiend. I used to have all the acne so moisturizers scared and kept my face hella DRY lol. But finally I started hydrating my skin and that made all the difference.

I loved that Hey Honey Serum, it is the best product I have found on IPSY in the years I have been subbed. It really worked with my skin and made it so soft and great.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Hey Honey also has a great lip balm, Be same Mucho. I got it in an IPSY sale a long while back, and prefer it to any of the balms they’ve sent (even the Glossier) save perhaps the Tarte lip jelly mask which is right up there with it. It’s so hydrating!
