Laurel & Reed November 2020 Review
As always, the packaging and presentation are beautiful!
The first card is just a general L&R info card while the second has specific info about the items and brands included inside.
Erbaviva Jasmine & Grapefruit Organic Deodorant, 3.5 fl oz - Retail Value $26.00
I tend to only use natural deodorant when the weather gets cold because I just don't sweat much and I feel like I can get away with it! My absolute favorite brand is Milk + Honey, but I kind of love the idea of a spray because I can use it as a quick refresh before and after a workout. In looking at the ingredients, I think I would personally classify this as more of a body spray. The first ingredient is alcohol, followed by a host of fragrant essential oils from lavender, citrus, ginger, jasmine, sage, and more. It is very bright, sharp, and invigorating! So, while this didn't make a dent in my underarm needs, it worked great as a whole-body refresh if I have to wait before hopping into the shower.
Blue Haven Holistics Cacao Mousse Antioxidant Face Mask, 2.5 oz - Retail Value $39.00
This mask looks AND smells just like brownie batter or chocolate pudding! The star ingredients here are, of course, raw cacao (a great source of vitamin A and other antioxidants), honey (more antioxidants and enzymes), Kakadu Plum (Loads of brightening vitamin C), and kaolin clay (for detoxing skin). I thought this mask was really fun, though it made me want sweets really bad! It applies nice and thick and smells delicious. You can leave this on for 5-20 minutes but since my skin is dry, I compromised at 10. I didn't find this formula drying at all and my skin actually felt so soft, less red, and super smooth after I washed it off with warm water.
Graydon Skincare Face Glow, 1.35 oz - Retail Value $46.00
Right off the bat, I discovered this lightly tinted moisturizer was too warm for me. This is a pretty common occurrence for me since I am super fair and my skin tone is neutral rather than warm. I think I could possibly use this shade in the summer, but right now there is no way! Aside from the shade mismatch, I am not super crazy about some of the ingredients. Though Stearyl, Cetearyl, and Cetyl alcohols are all fatty and should be non-drying, they do have minor irritancy ratings (my face isn't a fan). Don't let me discourage you though! This is just my experience and your skin is going to be totally different. The rest of the ingredient list is actually really great! Shea, sunscreen (yay!), green tea, and pineapple extracts also make an appearance. And the formula feels incredibly smooth and softening. I imagine if this shade works for you it would be really lovely for smoothing out your complexion, adding a little radiance (it has a natural, subtle shimmer), and priming your face for makeup. For me though, the tint made it a bust.
Ere Perez Cranberry Lip & Eye Butter, 0.35 oz - Retail Value $29.50
My last item is from one of my fave smaller makeup brands. For some reason, I thought this butter would be thicker. More like a balm? I guess because it was for lips. But it is actually much more of a cream. And I did not appreciate that feeling on my lips at first. It felt weird. But seriously, give it a second to work its magic, rub your lips together, let it absorb. It is so nourishing to my sad wintery lips! I also tried it under my eyes, but I personally prefer it as a lip product because it includes both coconut oil and cocoa butter. Also inside this cream is a blend of sweet almond oil, shea, squalane, vitamin E, green tea extract, cranberry extract, lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, and more! Though it boasts cranberry in the title, this butter does not have a fruity scent or taste. I have been using it at night before bed and my lips are loving it.
The Verdict: This Laurel & Reed delivery has a value of $140.50 which is a great value for a $49.95 box. I thought the assortment of items in this box was really broad and interesting! And I can't say that I had tried any of them before which is always exciting. The deodorant has a new home in my gym bag (gyms are closed until 1/4, but I am going to be ready!!) the mask is a yummy treat, and the lip and eye butter is a new fave of mine. I was not as into the skin glow, but that isn't the fault of the product but rather caused by my super fair skin and its dislike of those alcohols inside. I could see most people really enjoying it!
