Marshmallow of the Month Club Subscription November 2020 Review
First things first: I am obsessed with this packaging! It is so cute! It's a 4x4 cardstock box with pieces that make it look like a s'more! This month it has a little gift bow and autumn-themed sequins and plastic acorns. (Last month, October, the box was wrapped in fake web and spiders for Halloween!) The attention to packaging details from this box is such a nice touch. I also like that my name is on the info card!
The info card explains the flavor of the month, which is Cranberry: cranberry marshmallows with maple sage cranberry graham crackers, plus Godiva dark chocolate! Also, I have to say, this month's note from the chef felt very human and endearing: "I've spent the last month apologizing for late orders, until I read an article about choosing to say thank you rather than I am sorry. I want to say thank you for being patient with me. I am truly thankful for the opportunity to share my little box of marshmallow joy with you."
I've been trying to buy more, where I can, from small shops and businesses this season. This note really drove home the fact that a real person is working hard and putting this subscription together and doing a happy dance with each order, which makes me happy.
Cranberry Marshmallows
Starting with, of course, the star of the box! These marshmallows are made with a short, easy-to-read, all-natural ingredients list. They're also made with fish gelatin so that they're pescatarian friendly. I like these better in every way than I liked my first box last month: they are very fluffy and airy and the cranberry flavor is strong, sweet, and tart. Yum!
Maple Sage Cranberry Graham Crackers
I love graham crackers, and as with the marshmallows, I like these better than last month's flavor! They're crisp and crumbly and the flavor was balanced with the sweet maple, aromatic sage, and tart cranberry. These tasted great with the marshmallows, too.
Godiva Masterpieces Dark Chocolate Ganache Hearts - 2 pieces (buy six 17-piece boxes for $35.95)
Godiva anything automatically gets a big thumbs up from me. These hearts are made with delicious dark chocolate ganache that melts in your mouth. When you take a bite of this plus a bite of the marshmallows, the dark chocolate compliments the sweet marshmallow well.
Creme Brulee Tea Light
Mini Skewer
I received a scented tea light and a mini skewer last month, and I think they're cute extras. I mean, I don't know if I will really use the mini skewer because if I'm going to toast the marshmallow indoors, it will be over a gas stove and I'll need a longer skewer for that, but my kid thought it was a really fun way to munch on a marshmallow! The tea light is Creme Brulee scented, and I've already burned it in a little Christmas-y votive on my kitchen window.
Mike & Jen's Cocoa Mix Single-Serve packet, 1.2 oz - Buy a 12 pack for $17.99
FYI Marshmallow of the Month Box sends out different brands of hot cocoa mixes, so the one you received in your box might be different than the one I got in mine. It's fun to try different brands and variations over the months, but I haven't experienced an enormous difference from packet to packet (I'm spoiled and prefer fancy drinking chocolate, like Ghirardelli). It was a nice treat, and I appreciate that this one only has 5 ingredients!
Pure Sugar S'mores Candy Cubes - Estimated value $1.17 (buy a 6 pack for $6.99)
I've never seen anything like these before - what a cute item to feature! It's hard to tell in the photos, but these are so tiny. Initially, I was underwhelmed and didn't expect much from these but once I tried them I was surprised. I tasted each cube on its own and got a strong flavor from each: chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker! Together they definitely tasted like a s'more. It felt whimsical and I didn't expect to actually finish and enjoy them as much as I did! They have a lot of flavors and would make really cute party favors, too, I think!
Mini Metal Spoon
How cute is this little spoon! It's quite small, so it might not be super practical for stirring, say, a mug of hot cocoa together, but this could work as a little sugar spoon or something. My kids use espresso mugs when we make hot cocoa for them, and it would work well for that size cup, too.
The Verdict: This is my second box from Marshmallow of the Month Club, and I have to say that it really just makes me happy. This subscription is whimsical and unique and put together so well! It for sure feels like "a little box of marshmallow joy." My family and I enjoyed tasting every item included. The simple and natural ingredients were really appreciated, and the packaging is impressive. I can't wait to see future boxes!
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, if you order now your next box should be their December box!
Value Breakdown: Because the marshmallows and graham crackers are homemade just for this subscription, it's hard to really nail down a specific value that you get out of this box. If you're looking specifically at just "how many marshmallows, graham crackers, and hot cocoa packets can I get for $25?" then this box probably falls short. But what I'm really getting out of this box is the fun and uniqueness of the artisan marshmallows, homemade graham crackers (both of which are new flavors month to month), the quality of the ingredients, and the overall experience, too. This was a delight in the mail, and I can especially see it being a cute gift to send to someone.
