FaceTory 7 Lux December 2020 Review
Now on to the masks!
FaceTory Dream Garden Chamomile Mask - Retail Value $4.00
Sometimes I feel kind of 'blah' about own-brand products, but FaceTory is the exception to this! This brand truly makes some great skincare and sheet masks! This one was so relaxing and lovely. The shining star here is calming chamomile, something I certainly needed after a really hectic month. It is 80% chamomile water and this flower helps your skin by bringing anti-inflammatory properties as well as lots of antioxidants. This clear serum was watery but also kind of jelly-like, and it felt wonderful.
Yadah Daily Green Mask Natto Collagen - Retail Value $3.00 (currently sold out)
My husband has that thing where he is grossed out by pods and he was really put off by the image on this pack. I saw the word "collagen" on it and I didn't care what was in it or what was on it. This was one I grabbed immediately! I figured out the image on the front is actually fermented soybeans (...yum?) and they are the main ingredient that provides the elasticity and antioxidant boost inside. I liked this one, but I found it a tad sticky, so I recommend enjoying before bed and not before makeup.
Purenskin My Desire Ice Cream Pack - Retail Value $2.50 (currently sold out)
This was the sheet mask my Lisa Frank-loving inner child wanted to rip open first! I did manage to leave it to about the middle of my masking over a week and it was totally worth it! It is filled with a clear, sweet, and creamy scented essence that feels great on a face that is overheated from a workout. The Tencel mask itself fit really well, and while I got absolutely zero ice cream vibes from this mask, it sure made my face feel nice! Collagen and ginseng antioxidants are good for those benefits!
Elishacoy Skin Time Tea Mask Kombucha Tea - Retail Value $2.00 (currently sold out)
I absolutely love fermented extracts in skincare. For some reason my face really responds so well to them! It gives me a more even complexion, smoother texture, and also reduces redness. So, truly great stuff! This mask has an essence containing fermented black tea and snow mushroom extract. Fermented tea AND mushrooms? My skin would be smiling if it had a mouth. Which... I guess it does. I am smiling. The scent here was mostly clean and a little bit earthy and herbal, and all-around delightful.
Detoskin Green Tea-Time Mask - Retail Value $4.00 (currently sold out)
Green tea is my absolute favorite source of antioxidants. Why do we want antioxidants? They help prevent aging by preventing free radicals from stealing electrons from lipids and proteins which cause the skin to breakdown faster and show age. No, thanks. This mask had a slightly tea-like scent but was pretty mild in terms of fragrance, and a serum that was pleasantly runny and absorbed well in my post masking massage. Because it also has birch sap juice inside, I noticed hydration that lasted hours after the mask was removed.
Clapiel Hibiscus Relaxing Mask Pack - Retail Value $3.00 (currently sold out)
This was quite a treat for my dry winter skin. The pairing of hibiscus and panthenol seemed to suit my face quite well! Even though this mask doesn't really boast anti-inflammatory properties, I noticed a redness reduction, which is always appreciated! It also provided a big hydration boost right away that lasted for hours. The serum was clear and on the thicker side, with a slightly sweet but fresh scent.
Lapothicell Minus Soothing & Pore Facial Mask - Retail Value $5.00 (currently sold out)
I guess I assumed this would be a purifying charcoal mask, but it was so much better! It is that material that feels like a second skin (biocellulose) and contains coconut water and seaweed extracts! It is such a thin and delicate mask that it arrived between two mesh layers which made it a little difficult to apply, but still totally worth it. Sometimes masks made of this material get really dry really fast, but this one was dripping with a herbal scented serum and stayed very juicy.
The Beautiful Factr Probiotic Ball Capsule Cream, 4 treatments - Retail Value $12.00
Our bonus item this month was really, really cool! It was a box of four little treatments that were half circle-shaped, clear, and had a white sphere floating inside. You open one and then mix the contents until the white orb dissolves into the clear gel. It was kind of a messy process, but still super fun! I loved using these before bed as a sleeping mask and coating my face in the mixture. There were SO MANY goodies inside! Ferments, niacinamide, cica, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, lactic acid, collagen, shea, lipid-rich oils, honestly this list could go on and on! It does feel heavy on your face, but again, I recommend for nighttime. If you were especially frugal you could get two applications from each pod, making this last twice as long!
Verdict: FaceTory had so much goodness packed inside this month. All of the masks were stellar and the little capsule creams were so great for my skin and also fun. This continues to be a truly wonderful subscription for anyone who loves sheet masks and I love the bonuses each month too. I have been a longtime subscriber and this is one I can't imagine going without!
