ShoeDazzle October 2020 Review

This month's ShoeDazzle did not include an invoice statement or coupons/samples. Onward with the review!

Meet Ya There Chunky Loafers in Size 9.5— Retail Value $59.95, VIP Price $39.95

In my September Stitch Fix, I received a pair of chunky Oxblood loafers. I can be nit-picky and wasn't a fan of the bow on the shoes, so I opted against giving them a forever home. Those shoes planted a seed in me to hunt for something similar in black without the bow detail.

The fashion Godesses were on my side because I spied these in the newly released Rita Ora collection on the ShoeDazzle site and scooped them up with the quickness! These loafers remind me of something I would have worn in the 90s when I was in high school. Chunky heels were all the rage back then and I was a total sucker for the trend. I had loafers, metallic saddle shoes, combat boots, and Mary Jane style shoes all with that iconic thick and chunky heel. Get a full Clueless inspired ensemble by pairing these with your favorite white button-down, cropped sweater vest, plaid mini skirt, and knee-high socks, or go more modern and casual with a vintage band t-shirt, skinny leg jeans, and a faux leather biker jacket.

I am also glad to report that these aren't just adorable and versatile style-wise, but they also are insanely comfortable and easy to wear as well. It feels like walking on clouds!

Reusable Face Mask in White Leopard — Retail Value $6.95, VIP Price $4.95

Keeping safe is a major priority for me during this pandemic, but why not look stylish too? I had another leopard print face mask that unfortunately broke, so it seemed like perfect timing to be able to add this one to my order.

I love the leopard print on this one and the fabric is rather soft and breathable. However, I must say this mask is not my favorite in my collection. I have a fuller face, so I prefer my masks to be a bit roomier and more full coverage. For someone younger or with a smaller face, this would work. If you have a lot of face like me, I suggest avoiding these.

Reusable Face Mask in Paisley — Retail Value $6.95, VIP Price $4.95

Sadly, this mask is sold out on the ShoeDazzle site as well.

This is the same style as the leopard print one and my opinions are the same on this mask as well. If you have a fuller face, proceed with caution. Though the mask doesn't fit my face the best, I do love the retro paisley fabric design. It honestly is a shame that the mask wasn't constructed a bit better, because I would wear this one all the time.

Verdict: This month's ShoeDazzle was a mixed bag. The masks I got certainly were on point aesthetically but didn't fit terribly well. The Rita Ora collection loafers I got were one of my favorite ShoeDazzle purchases of the year, though! You got to take the good with the bad, and in this case, the good was really good!

My gripe forever remains the same regarding their limited plus-size section – I didn't bother to get any clothes this month again. I will, however, cut ShoeDazzle some slack due to these awesome loafers! I am glad to see more flats and platforms available. Pre-pandemic I couldn't walk in high heels and I didn't gain that ability in the last seven or eight months either. I do hope to see their plus-size selections be as broad and awesome as their shoe collection is – someday right? I must also give ShoeDazzle credit on their VIP program: they always have massive exclusive sales that keep me coming for more. Their sales are what entices me to stay and give them a go each month!

ShoeDazzle's October choices were pretty decent-- are you excited to see what is in store for November?

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The masks aren't available on the site, but the Meet Ya There chunky loafers still are!

Value Breakdown: The Meet Ya There Loafers have a retail value of $59.95, but VIP Price was $39.95. Both face masks have a retail value of $6.95 each, but after the VIP discount were $4.95. The two pieces come up to $49.85 before shipping and handling. I saved $22 by being a VIP member – that is roughly a 33% discount! What a great savings!

OMG! I had loafers like this from Express (or maybe Steve Madden) that I wore to DEATH. So cute! I’m glad the style is coming back around. I always say: “I’m a sturdy gal, I need a sturdy shoe.”

I am so, so happy to see chunky heels again (I never really stopped wearing them lol)!

I love the masks on you, shame they do not fit well because the prints are great. Great review!

Love all of it. Those shoes are amazing and, if we have to wear masks, we should wear ones that are cool. You look beautiful as always. Thanks for the review and Happy New Year!

I would use my own sewing ability (which is not proficient, but can make do) and add a little stretch at the back of the ear on both masks. 🥰

Thanks, Mel. Yeah, it isn’t necessarily that aspect, it is the lack of material. If I pull down my nose isn’t covered as well as I would prefer. If I pull up, then my chin is a bit more open and it isn’t the most comfortable. But that is a good suggestion, for sure.

I was thinking that your new loafers remind me of what I liked to wear in high school too. I just recently got a great deal on some deep plum patent leather combat boots from Sugar. Even the brand was popular in the 90’s. Makes me think of Shirley Manson from the band Garbage with the patent leather combat boots and deep teal or pink satin A line mini dresses.

It is great, at least to me, to see these styles come back around. Bring it!

Thanks for the awesome review as always, Nicole. The shoes are super cute with the animal print tee and mini skirt.

Awe Leslie, I haven’t thought of the Sugar brand in so long! They had so many cute platform shoes!

And thank you again for checking out my review.
