November 2020 Super Chewer "Takesgiving" Review

Each box arrives with an information card with details about the items included, as well as ideas on how to engage with your pup.

This month's theme is "Takesgiving" which is a fantastic pun, and so on-point for my four-legged guy. Last year's Thanksgiving toys are still a favorite around the house, so I can't wait to see what's inside for Archie to love on all year long!

Peanut Butter and Carob Stick

These sticks are a mainstay of this box, and Archie seems to love all the flavors! While none of them have a strong or bad smell, I like this peanut butter and carob one a lot. The peanut butter does smell nice, and while it doesn't improve my dude's breath or anything, it doesn't give him bad breath like other kinds of treats can.

Bark Box Beef Patty

The box mixed it up a little bit this month, and I was thrilled! My husband (Archie's dad), loves the kind of beef jerky intended for humans, and Archie always sits at attention whenever John eats it. More often than not, Arch will get a tiny nibble of jerky, but this treat is so much better because it doesn't contain the kind of sodium that regular jerky does!

Treat Stuffed Turkey

One of the things that Super Chewer does best is tough toys that are scented! I know, I know, that sounds really strange. But just like last year's turkey drumstick, this stuffable bird actually smells like roasted fowl. Arch adored this piece from first sniff, and he was enthusiastic about the toy, even when it wasn't full of extra treats!

Corn to Run

Toy number two this month might be even better than the first! As you can see from Arch's, ahem, enthusiastic expressions, this ear of corn was my pooch's dream. Readers - it smells like popcorn. Not only did Archie go crazy for it, we took it to my mother-in-law's, and her twin golden retrievers couldn't get enough of it! I didn't mind that they effectively stole it from Arch - it's not like he doesn't get two awesome toys every month.

Lamb Chops

As always, these tasty treats are super good for training, rewarding, and generally making Arch's life better! I enjoy giving Archie lamb, since it's already the main protein of his diet, and I really appreciate that these treats are made from natural ingredients and don't have a strong or unpleasant odor.

Beef Woofington Treats

Oh, Super Chewer - I do love a good pun! I also happen to love Beef Wellington. While these treats aren't covered in mushrooms and wrapped in pastry dough, they're nice little chewy bits that Archie seems to enjoy chowing. I love using these when I practice "high five" with him, my version of "shake" - a trick that serves no real purpose but entertains me immensely.

Verdict: The Super Chewer box is always a pleaser, and I swear, it puts Archie and myself both in a good mood when it arrives! Arch must be able to smell the contents, because I kid you not, at the sight of the new box, his tail always wags. This Takesgiving box offered up cute, durable, and on-theme toys, a great variety of textures and tastes in the treats arena. Both toys had clever smells that made my boy wild in a good way while simultaneously not offending human noses. These items last a really long time, and really stand up against my boy's tough teeth!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Nope, you'll get the February box. Customer Care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

Value Breakdown: At $29/month + free shipping for this box, each of the 6 items has an average cost of $4.83.

Wow! I’m not usually one to post about how late this is but November? We’ve had this box for months. My January box just shipped yesterday. We’ve had the Peanuts-themed December box for a month now. What’s with the late review?

For anyone contemplating on whether it’s for them, I can recommend. I first subbed in 2019 and there was a shipping delay at that point, but since then, it’s been on time and no issues. Sometimes they find a toy is not as durable as they thought it would be and they immediately reach out and contact subscribers to offer up a replacement.

I have a huge golden retriever mix and a border collie. Both are quite aggressive with their toys and 95% of the toys we have gotten from Super Chewer have held up to the test of time. I thought they wouldn’t enjoy some of them, but they play with all of them. The company also makes sure to send a good mix of different types of toys like funny bouncers, ones you can stuff with treats, etc. My golden literally KNOWS when it’s his box and he will hound me (haha) to open it.

I’ve got a super chewer yorkie who is 4 pounds, and sadly this doesn’t work for him. The toys were way way too big. As big as him!!! So far, there isn’t any boxes for small dog super chewers. ☹️
