Allure Beauty Box February 2021 Review
This handy booklet has all the product info inside.
Christophe Robin Daily Hair Cream, 3.4 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $43.00
This was yet another product I was seriously excited about. I love the Christophe Robin brand and though I am not super into hair products (I have lazy girl hair habits) I do often use hair creams and balms to smooth frizz and give my locks a little shine. This cream smells SO good. It certainly has a sandalwood note but it isn't so earthy or masculine that it might turn off some subscribers. While I usually put a pea-sized amount of product like this in my hands and then rub them together and smooth them down and through my dry hair, I also loved using this on damp hair. I found it really enhanced my waves if I applied it to freshly showered locks and then loosely braided them into two braids before bed. When I woke up I released the braids and was rewarded with beachy waves that looked really pretty all day. Most of you know I am an OUAI addict and I love their finishing cream. Well, I loved this stuff just as much! I hope you all enjoy this addition as much as I did. (I need a second tube to live in my purse!)
Floss Lip Advocate in 'Your Honor' - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00
So, 2020 was the year that made me really appreciate effortless makeup. With nowhere to go and masks to wear, the effort I put into my daily makeup routine went from medium coverage concealer + blush + mascara + shadow + highlighter + finishing powder down to a good brow gel, CC or BB cream, highlighter, and an effortless lip. Sure, I am pretty excited to get back to normal life, but some of these makeup habits will totally be sticking around and I think an easy lip might be my favorite of them all. This lip crayon is lightweight, buildable, and a breeze to apply (even without a mirror). This shade is a universally flattering pink and doubles as a cream blush in a pinch!
Here is an arm swatch.
And here it is on my otherwise makeup-free face. I like how this shade of pink didn't just make my entire face look even more red.
Madeca Derma Revitalizing Mask - Listed Value $1.99
I tend to use a sheet mask most nights, so I am always up for a new brand to cross my desk! This 100% cotton sheet mask had a great fit and was coated with a heavier, slightly white serum. I am glad I saved it for evening use because it was a lot heavier than I was expecting and it left a little behind on my face that felt great to massage in before bed. It contains my absolute favorite botanical, Centella Asiatica (aka Cicapair!) which always leaves my skin feeling so calm and significantly less red.
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in-Milk Sunscreen for Face & Body SPF 100, 5 mL - Estimated Value $1.39 (buy a full size 90 mL for $24.99)
Most of you know that I am an SPF-obsessive person. It's true that I burn really easily, which makes that protection extra important for me, but I really, really believe that SPF should be a daily layer on everyone's face. The glorious, warm, beautiful sun is also the number one cause of skin damage and aging so if you care about keeping your face youthful, SPF is your best friend. I will admit that SPF 100 feels like A LOT of SPF, but if you are like me and you tend to burn easily, this is a great little tube to keep on hand when you know you are going to be out in the sun for a long time. It does feel a little heavy, but the protection is worth it.
Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask, 10 mL - Estimated Value $28.67 (buy a full size 60 mL for $172.00)
FYI: Subscribers will receive this item OR Amorepacific Vintage Single Extra Essence OR Amorepacific Cleansing Foam OR L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream. Per Allure, this variation depends on your member history, and subscribers will not receive the same product more than once.
My final item was a tube of one of my favorite luxury masks from a brand I totally will never be able to afford. Everything about this stuff feels luxe. The scent is expensive and rosy, the texture is dense and heavy, and the texture on my face is pure velvet. While this is technically a mask you apply in a thick layer and then wipe off, I tend to treat it more like a high-intensity moisturizer and use just a little all over my face, rubbing it in gently to absorb. I always wake up the next day feeling like a very fancy and radiant lady.
Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $241.05 which is just really awesome for a $23 box. The mix of brands this month was top-notch in my book! I am shocked that such an expensive product from U Beauty was included (and this was the medium size. They could have gone smaller, but didn't!). I am also really happy with my new Christophe Robin hair cream and the very pretty and totally wearable Floss lippy. The sheet mask, SPF, and amazing Sisley mask were just the icing on the cake!
