Birchbox sends samples (and sometimes full-sizes) of new and exciting beauty products from top brands for $15/month. Birchbox is one of the original beauty subscription boxes and is a great way to discover new makeup, hair care, and skincare products without breaking the bank. I received one of the two curated Clean Beauty options.

FYI: As of June 2020, in addition to the surprise sample box option, there will be two curated boxes offered in greater quantities than the previous curated options: The Clean Beauty Box and the Katia’s Picks box. Get all the details here.

Birchbox Review February 2021

As always, this month's Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, 7 ml - Estimated Value $10.73 (Buy a full-size 15 ml for $23.00 here)

This Balance Me Congested Skin Serum is the perfect spot treatment. It's incredibly lightweight and targets and reduces the appearance of blemishes. I love how this serum quickly absorbs into the specific area that I'm treating and doesn't get all mixed in with my other serums or moisturizers, leaving my entire face feeling dry. I've tried this product several times in the past and I enjoy it every time. It's perfect for clearing congested pores and eliminating redness and inflammation, and it never leaves my skin feeling irritated. With a powerhouse formula including kanuka oil, moringa oil, and calming eucalyptus, the product obliterates acne-causing bacteria and strengthens skin's protective barrier. It has a medicinal scent that is very herbaceous but not overpowering.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Leave-In Treatment, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $3.27 (Buy a full-size 4.9 fl oz for $16.00 here)

NatureLab Tokyo's Perfect Repair Leave-In Treatment is a delightful foaming, nutrient-rich conditioner that is ultra lightweight, nourishing hair without weighing it down. The foam has a high-end salon scent that makes me feel like I just splurged and treated myself to a spa day with the girls. Suddenly, I'm wealthy and COVID doesn't exist... it's truly euphoric, which is clearly an exaggeration, I digress. Let me tell you about the amazing formula. It includes argan oil, prickly pear oil, capuacu butter, and bamboo stem cells to strengthen damaged hair and promote healthy hair growth. I've been focusing this product on the ends of my hair because they are the most damaged, and I've noticed this leave-in conditioner making the straw-like tips of my hair feel soft and hydrated.

Marcelle Hydrating Mask, 0.33 fl oz - Estimated Value $3.69 (Buy a full-size 1.7 fl oz for $19.00 here)

I absolutely love face masks, and Marcelle's Hydrating Mask really does it for me. I absolutely love the gel, almost silicone-like, texture of the product. It glides onto your skin and smoothes over in a thin sheen that you can feel get to work in minutes. Formulated with a unique blend of hyaluronic acid and pacific seaweed, this mask deeply hydrates and renews skin and left my face feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized. I feel like this product hydrated and refreshed my skin, left behind no residue after rinsing, and did not clog my pores. I would highly recommend this one. The scent is natural, incredibly light, and almost nonexistent, perfect for my sensitive skin.

DiTO Cosmetics Ice Cube Glitter Shot Shadow in Golden Sunshine, 0.05 oz - Estimated Value $4.44 (Buy a full-size 0.09 oz for $7.99 here)

I really enjoy golden-toned eye shadows. They make me feel like Cleopatra. I've been really enjoying this DiTo Cosmetics Ice Cube Glitter Shot Shadow in Golden Sunshine. It has a smooth, creamy formula that is easy to blend and applies smoothly with a glorious shimmer to it. I found it to be pigmented and easily buildable, and of course, I love that it can be applied with a brush or simply just your finger. I don't know that I'll have anywhere to wear sparkly gold eyeshadow to in the near future, but I am going to put this on the next time I binge watch a new Netflix show.

Estate Cosmetics Lip Icing in Glazed, 3.1 g - Retail Value $10.00

I am the queen of snacks... Not looking like a snack, like I would like, but instead eating all the snacks. And I have to tell you, this Estate Cosmetics Lip Icing in Glazed smells absolutely delectable. Honestly, if this aroma were sprayed around my house, I would think someone was baking something amazingly delicious or my living room is covered in coconut rum. This lip icing is a wonderfully non-sticky gloss that leaves a beautifully semi-sheer shine on my lips; the perfect natural, but not natural, luscious, juicy lip look. I found the product hydrating and long-lasting, with the versatility of blending in seamlessly with a full beat of makeup or enhancing the natural beauty of a moisturizer and sunscreen day.

Verdict: This month's Birchbox had a diverse array of products. I love when a box sends more than just makeup or skincare or haircare. The Estate Cosmetics Lip Icing is a delightfully scented, moisturizing gloss that gives my bare lips a luscious enhancement, and the DiTo Cosmetics Glitter Shot Shadow has a wonderful golden shimmery shade that I think will go perfectly with the gloss. I also really enjoyed the NatureLab Tokyo's Leave-In Treatment and the Marcelle Hydrating Mask; two wonderfully curated products to hydrate your hair, as well as your skin. I also received the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, a perfect spot treatment for unwanted pimple attacks. I love how this product seriously targets and treats blemishes. With a total retail value of $32.13, you definitely get your money's worth, since this box only costs $15 per month. I think it's great how all elements of beauty, skincare, and haircare were included in this curation.

I signed up for a 3 month sub because I thought birchbox was sending bags/acrylic boxes/pouches now instead of the box? That’s honestly the only reason I signed up because I like those types of things for storage and yet my February box was a flimsy cardboard box like normal :(.

The Estate gloss is now one of my favorite lip products. It’s the perfect shade, shine, and scent.

I was very unhappy with my Dito eyeshadow. It set of my dermatitis and gave me swollen rashes under my eyes from one time of using it. It definitely felt cheap so it doesn’t surprise. I’m glad you’re a lipgloss girl because I definitely am not.

That sounds awful! What color dito shadow did you get? A friend of mine received the blue and the quality was much different then the gold.

DiTO is one of the brands people have found exact dupes for on Alibaba for much less than the stated retail value, in case anyone is interested in that.

That is the old packaging for the BalanceMe serum, & it’s been different for quite a while. I recommend checking batch codes with the company if you get that.
