Tailored Beauty Curl Antidote Curling Cream, 2 oz. – Estimated Value $3.75 ( Buy an 8 oz container for $14.99)
Our first item is a wonderfully fragrant curling cream by Tailored Beauty. I've been natural the majority of my life, and one thing we natural women have – a million and one curling creams! And while I have a huge variety, I'm always down to try a new one in the event it ends up being my curly hair savior!
I was unable to put this on the entirety of my head as I currently am in a protective style. However, I did put a little cream on a loose curl on the back of my head and loved the lightness of it! This product wasn't too heavy or too oily – it actually felt just right! The powdery/floral smell is also lovely! Looking forward to using this product on a twist out soon.
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Body Lotion, 3.2 oz – Estimated Value $1.91 (Buy a 13 oz bottle for $7.77)
I've been a fan of Shea Moisture products for years now, but have only tried their hair items. This was my first time using their body lotion and the similarities between their body and hair products are pretty in your face. The consistency is the same – nice even texture, not greasy but not exactly super moisturizing. The scent smells like a tropical drink and lingers – that is, until you wash your hands, haha. I think this is a great item to have in your purse with all the hand sanitizing we are doing nowadays.
Eden Body Works Leave In Conditioner, 2 oz – Estimated Value $1.94 (Buy an 8 oz bottle at $7.76)
Eden Body Works is another line that often finds itself in my hallway closet full of hair products! I love how their items are sulfate- and paraben-free and always smell so good. This particular leave-in conditioner is one that I've used before and I enjoy. I appreciate how refreshing and cooling the conditioner feels on my scalp, and it keeps my curls nourished all day.
Lip Bar Vegan Liquid Matte, .24 oz – Retail Value $10.89
I am a Lip Bar lippie lover! I wore Lip Bar on my wedding day, I will wear it to the grocery store – I just love how long it lasts and how good it feels on my lips! It's not super drying like most mattes.
I received this liquid matte in the color Curl-Friend (which side note: I love that lip color name! It was so fitting considering the other items in this month's box). This is a pretty, dusty rose color which shows up a lot lighter on my lips than it did on my arm. I love both shades though so I didn't mind!
BLK/OPL Precision Eye Definer, .04 oz – Estimated Value $7.99
I received this item in the color Coffee Bean which I was unable to locate on Walmart's site.
Our last item in this month's Beauty Through Unity box is also the Surprise Item – an eyeliner pencil by Black Opal. The color is a rich espresso brown. I always seem to lose my eye pencils, so I can never have too many!
While I'm usually a black eyeliner girl, I think this would be a good substitute for those days that I may not be able to find my black liner. The brown is rich and deep enough for me.
Verdict: I am so happy that Walmart & Shea Moisture partnered to deliver a box celebrating Black History Month and Black beauty! This was my first time reviewing a Limited Edition Walmart Beauty Box and I enjoyed it! Most of the items, besides the eyeliner and liquid matte, were sample size, which I expected from a superstore beauty box. I love how the items were products from lines I already used. My fave item was the matte lippie! A new Lip Bar color has just been added to my collection 🙂 I estimate that I received $26.48 worth of items in this box, which isn't too bad for a box that costs less than $10 and includes free shipping.
