Wicked Good Perfume "Rise & Shine" Review January 2021
I have actually been reviewing this subscription for over a year now and here are a few things to note about these fragrances:
- They are formulated without phthalates, parabens, or petroleum.
- These are vegan and cruelty-free and they use sustainable ingredients that are responsibly sourced.
- I am not a huge perfume lover because they usually give me headaches, but these unique, handcrafted fragrances do not!
This month's theme is "Rise & Shine" which feels fitting for the start of a new year! On one side, this card lists the products, the scents they contain, and their retail value, while the back has some information about their box review contest and some savings for scent club members.
Wicked Good 'Inhale, Exhale' Sea Salt Scrub Soap Bar
This is a generously-sized soap bar and it is a blend of yuzu, mandarin, pomegranate, and sea salt. It mostly has the clean soap scent with sea salt and then I get these bright bursts of the fruit flavors every so often. This soap gave my skin that squeaky clean feeling that bar soap usually does, but it didn't feel like it was drying at all to my skin. The scent left behind was a faint mix of all of the fruit scents coupled with the sea salt.
Wicked Good 'Positive Vibes' Face Mask Refresher
This mask refresher spray is meant to spray on your cloth face mask in between washes when it just needs a bit of freshening up. What a brilliant idea! Seriously, I have been needing something like this! The other day we were out and my 2-year-old who had been eating potato chips somehow got his greasy chip hands on my mask and I didn't have a back up on me, so instead I was stuck smelling his greasy potato chips for the rest of the time we were out. This mask refresher would have been a nice thing to have on hand then! The scent is made with quince, vanilla coconut, eucalyptus, peach nectar, jasmine, french lavender, and sandalwood. It is super fresh smelling and while at first, I get a heavy note of quince (which I mistook for apple at first), it fades into a subtle clean scent with hints of the eucalyptus, jasmine, and sandalwood that I definitely think I could handle breathing in. It certainly beats greasy potato chips! Also, the scent is not overly feminine, so my husband didn't mind me testing it out on his mask!
Wicked Good 'Rise and Shine' Perfume Oil Roller, 10 mL - Listed Value $18.00
Our perfume roller this month has this sweet, vibrant citrus note to it from the mandarin and tangerine at first and then it seems to become more complex as some of the other scents come through. I think I get that bit of the basil grande vert which goes so nicely with the citrus and the rest is just a slightly musky blend of clove, jasmine, patchouli, myrrh, amber, Egyptian musk, and sandalwood. While it's really hard to pick out any of those notes individually, I can somehow tell they are all there. They just blend together so well! The result is definitely fitting of the Rise & Shine name! I could see it being an invigorating scent to apply in the mornings. Especially those days when you really need a little extra help waking up.
Wicked Good 'Spiritual Gangster' Perfume Spray, 1 oz. - Listed Value $29.00
Our perfume is a blend of orange flower, champaca absolute (in the magnolia family), davana (an herb that smells like tea), patchouli, sugared musk, santal, and vanilla amber. This one reminds me a lot of incense or a hookah bar because it has this sweet smoky scent to it from the vanilla amber and patchouli. I think I smell the champaca absolute, too because there is something of a floral vibe to it, similar to Japanese Cherry Blossom. While it is almost a bit overwhelming at first, this scent quickly fades to a very light version that is still sweet and smoky but brings out more of the santal fragrance on me. This is one of those heady scents that is kind of mysterious and intoxicating, which in turn makes it kind of sexy. This might be a perfect date night perfume!
Verdict: This month's Wicked Good Perfume collection was another home run for me! I love the idea of a mask refresher and the scent was perfect for its purpose. The soap was a nice way to get fresh and clean and I really loved the way our two perfumes balanced one another out. The vibrant, invigorating roller is perfect for the early morning while the smoldering scent of the spray is great for the evening. I can't say enough good things about this subscription and I truly look forward to this box each month!
