KitNipBox March 2021 Review
KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, there are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month had a video game theme.
Included in the box is this card, which features a cute illustration and info on the opposite side of what you'll find in the box.
Now, on to the items:
Leap Block Game Interactive Wand – Listed Value $7.00
Many months, this box will contain a wand toy. Sneaky is my usual wand cat but Monkey likes the ribbon style wands quite a bit as well, and this is somewhat ribbon-like. In this particular case, Sneaky played with it more while I was taking pictures. I like how they have to say “block game” instead of Tetris for trademark reasons; this toy is a bit nostalgic for me because the original GameBoy came out when I was in elementary school and I played a lot of Tetris back in the day.
Safemade All Catnip Video Game Cat-Troller – Listed Value $6.00
I like getting all-catnip toys, I feel like my cats respond to these a little better, on average than plush toys with stuffing in addition to the catnip. This isn’t exactly a kicker toy but it’s of a size where it could be used as one, especially for a smaller cat. My cats were more in the licking/sniffing mood with this one but they’re older and I’m happy for any amount of interest in toys.
Kitty Old School Arcade Game Mini Kicker – Listed Value $5.00
This one is labeled as a kicker and has a more traditional shape for a kicker (a small one, anyway). Monkey is my kicker cat and although he didn’t play along well for photos, this has moved all over my bedroom so someone is playing with it while I’m not watching and Monkey is the most likely candidate.
All for Paws Rattle Gamer Headset – Listed Value $5.00
This is a felt catnip toy. Although it is not an actual headset, I tried putting it on Monkey, which he did not seem to enjoy. You can see a picture below. This is a medium-sized toy and I appreciate that it has a different texture (i.e., felt) than the other toys in this box, as my cats seem interested in new and different textures and in texture variety in general.
Max Video Game Villain Character Toy – Listed Value $5.00
I guess this is the boss you beat up in fighting games? I have terrible hand-eye coordination so I was never good at such games. But I appreciate the shape difference here, it’s not another square/boxy toy, and it’s fairly lightweight, so cats can toss it around. The boys mostly wanted to rub their faces on this one which is fine by me.
‘R Squad Furitos All Catnip Snack Time Toy – Listed Value $4.00
Here is another all-catnip toy. This may have been my cats’ favorite toy in the box, I guess the catnip was good? Sneaky, in particular, was fascinated with this, even though it is not the kind of item she usually goes for. This is more of a tossing toy than a kicker but my cats wanted to taste it, which I think is funny.
Vitakraft Gourmet Jelly Turkey and Sweet Potato (5 pack) – Retail Value $3.99
This month’s treat was a lickable treat. I judge these by how many cats are interested (Monkey can be a snob about such things) and they all loved this, and I got some great pictures. These treats were a definite win.
On to the kitties:
(Sneaky is calico, Monkey is tan and white, and Madison is black.)
Verdict: I wasn’t able to calculate a total value for this month’s KitNipBox because most of the items were not available for separate purchase online. If you use the information card values, you get a total of about $35.99, which I think is reasonable. You get toys in KitNipBox that you don’t typically see elsewhere, and they all fit the monthly theme nicely. Plus, there are a variety of different toy types and textures, and pretty much every toy in the box appealed to at least one of my cats (it does help to have several cats). The treats were a huge hit as well.
