LUXSB is a fragrance subscription box for men and women (formerly known as Luxury Scent Box). Each month you will receive 9 mL (about 0.3 fl oz) of a designer fragrance. You can accept the fragrance of the month, you can choose scents based on a short profile survey, or you can just build a calendar of scents on your own.
There are two subscription options:
- The Standard Plan for $15.00 per month and includes one 9 mL travel spray
- The Premium Plan for $18.00 per month and includes one 9 mL travel spray and access to premium items
LUXSB also gives active members the option to upgrade their subscription to the Duo plan, which includes one case and two premium or non-premium perfumes per month.
This is a review of the standard plan for $15/month + free shipping.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

LUXSB February 2021 Review
There was some information about this month's perfumer.
And a note that you can now get add-ons for your subscription.
On to the fragrance:
Maison Sybarite Amber Gaze – Estimated Value $22.20 (buy 75 mL for $185.00)
The information card advertised the fragrance 720 from the same brand, but the actual vial said Amber Gaze. In the past, the information cards have sometimes been generic to the brand rather than the specific fragrance so I’m going to assume what I received is Amber Gaze. (There are a lot of overlapping notes between the two but seeing as there is really nothing I could classify as “birch tar” or “lavender” in the fragrance I received, I’m again going to assume I got Amber Gaze.)
Moving on. The first thing I noticed is that this looks like milk, not clear or yellowish/brownish like just about every other fragrance I’m familiar with. This is mostly water-based with a small amount of olive oil and vitamin E. I think this is the first water-based fragrance I’ve ever received in a perfume subscription (not counting like body sprays and such), which is neat. Almost all of them are alcohol-based if they are easily sprayable. This one is nicely emulsified (I guess that’s the milkiness) and doesn’t seem to separate, at least not over the short term.
This is unisex (I think?) and vegan/cruelty free. It also doesn’t officially get released until March 2021, so it’s cool to get to try something early.
You may be wondering how a water-based fragrance performs, and this really exceeded my expectations. Like, it had great sillage and lasted all day. I have to stop myself from using a bunch of superlatives here, seriously.
On to the fragrance itself. Top notes are jasmine, tuberose, and violet, but the floral notes are subtle and I would not call this a floral fragrance on me. Middle notes are cardamom, pink pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and I definitely do notice the spices, particularly the cardamom. Base notes include some of my usual favorites (sandalwood/vanilla/patchouli) as well as labdanum and tolu.
This is described by the manufacturer as an oriental scent and those are generally my favorites. This just really hits all of the things I love (spices! sandalwood!) and none of the things I dislike, and it lasts a long time, and I would totally be interested not only in trying more scents from this brand but in buying a larger bottle.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $22.20. This was a fantastic month for me from LuxSB. The scent of the month from this subscription is nearly always wonderful for me (for reference I like oriental, woody, spicy types of scents the best, typically tending towards unisex), and is usually something new and interesting from a perfumer who’s new to me, so the discovery aspect I want from a subscription box is covered as well. The value is also pretty good as well.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $15/monthly and this month, I received $22.20 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent you choose).
