Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2021 Review
When you sign up you will answer a series of questions such as your ethnicity, hair color, skin concerns, and a few other preferences. The answers are used to provide a more personalized experience so that they can tailor your box to you.
The Walmart box has undergone some changes in the past year or so, and with the slight price increase, they also started including a pamphlet featuring all of the items that could be included in your box with a blurb about each item, price details for full size versions, and photos. The pamphlet states you will receive 6 products, but interestingly enough, one of the samples we received was not included in this literature. The back of the pamphlet even mentions that the Spring 2021 box is titled "Mindful Beauty Box" and will contain a limited edition assortment of products made with ingredients you can feel good about... interesting!
Tanologist Face + Body Drops
Because I dislike foil samples, I wanted to check this out first. We received a 0.7 mL packet of self-tan drops in the color medium. The directions say this product is designed to be mixed with your skincare, makeup or body care, and the more drops you add, the darker your tan becomes. They state these drops will not block you pores, aren't drying, and will not transfer onto sheets or clothes. First things first, I could not find the full size in-store. I did find it being sold by third party sellers on Walmart's website, but at heavily inflated prices, so I did not include the link. Secondly, I found it extremely hard to gauge a "drop" when it is oozing out of a foil packet. I generally don't use self-tanner, so this isn't really my cup of tea, but I did find mixed with my nightly moisturizer, this did give a subtle glow without turning my face orange. What did you think of this product?
Dashing Diva Ultra Shine Gel Palette - Full Size! Retail Value $6.97
Now we are talking!! Hello cheetah print and glitter....come to mama! The next item I received was this package of gel nail strips. I have a little experience with strips like these, but not this particular brand. I found these to be easy to apply, but lacking instruction. From the illustrations, I gathered I needed to prep my nails, apply, and file....I found the file ripped a couple too short, so I opted to clip them off with a nail clipper instead, then I filed them. All of them stuck surprisingly well, except one, which I replaced. After applying, I did dishes and took a shower with no peeling, so I am interested to see how close to the 14 day window these stickers last.
Because I hate waiting for fingernail polish to dry, these strips are a great alternative, plus I can't resist the cheetah pattern. If these seriously last 14 days, sign me up for a recurring order!
Hello Antiplaque + Whitening Toothpaste - Estimated Value $0.85 (Buy a 4.7 oz container for $3.97)
Not the most exciting item, but a useful one was this Hello antiplaque + whitening natural peppermint toothpaste. I have used Hello toothpaste in the past and find that it doesn't lather up in my mouth like other brands do. I enjoyed the peppermint flavor and am all for a whiter smile, but I can't say this is enough to sway me from my current brand. I am happy to have a nice travel sized toothpaste to tote around in my cosmetic case when we are finally able to travel again!
Hello Charcoal Infused Toothbrush - Full Size - Retail Value $3.99 (available here for $2.00)
To pair with our toothpaste, we also received a charcoal infused toothbrush. Featuring soft, black bristles, and a BPA-free handle, I found this toothbrush to be comfortable to use, and easy on my sensitive gums. I felt the handle was easy to hang onto and left my teeth feeling bright and clean, and it looks pretty darn sleek in my toothbrush holder if I do say so myself!
Bliss Drench & Quench Hydrating Cream - Estimated Value $5.87 (Buy a 1.7 oz. container for $19.96)
I love Bliss products, and this hydrating cream is a winner in my book. This particular cream suggests applying in the morning or at night, but I find it light enough to put on before applying my make-up. With the light blue color and light, fresh scent, it applies gently to my skin. I found my skin becoming extra soft with multiple uses, and it didn't cause any breakouts. As of right now I don't have a particular go-to moisturizer (I have an assortment of beauty box varieties I am trying to use up) but think I would definitely purchase this in the future to add to my morning routine.
Wild Primrose by Scunci Hair Accessories - Full Size! -Retail Value $4.97
I am an accessory addict, so seeing this golden mustard, giant scrunchie in the box had me a little more excited than I would like to admit. While I tend to gravitate towards headbands, there is room in my life for big, flowy scrunchies and this one fits the bill. Giving off a 90s vibe, this baby matches a ton of my fall clothes, and added just the right amount of color to my hairdo.
This scrunchie is so large, that it actually fit around my messy up-do, adding just the right amount of flare to my school day outfit.
Verdict: I have to say, the Spring Walmart Box was not exactly what I was expecting. With the recent price hike, I wasn't quite sure what we would receive, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. While the toothbrush and toothpaste weren't the most exciting things to get, they both proved to be useful, and travel friendly for when the time finally comes. Being that three out of our six items were full sized was a pretty big deal, and I loved the nail strips, scrunchie, and Bliss cream. The only item I didn't love was the foil packet, but honestly, that was just a bonus with all of the other goodies. What did you think of this box?
The total value of this quarter's box came out to be about $22.65, without the Tanologist drops, which is more than 3 times the cost of the box! I have to say, if they keep up with curations like this, I will be thoroughly impressed.
