This box was such a disappointment. The only reason I didn’t skip was because I wanted to try the Akar eye serum. It’s good but it felt like a let down that it was made in China. Not sure if this is typical for the regular retail one. The rest of the box was just meh. Ironically the black liner is one of the few black liners I was excited about since I normally receive black liquid liners and this was a pencil instead.

I saw a photo and that eye shadow palette is tiny!! I think in the end I would have been OK with this box and pleased to try the Akar product but I’m glad I skipped.

Save for the eyeshadow pallet, I’m excited about this months box. So much so that I bought an extra one through Amazon.

I used to like allure but needed to cancel this month. I emailed them before the beginning of this month and got no reply then emailed them again only to be told they wouldn’t refund my money unless I sent them my original email showing a time stamp (bc they couldn’t find it) and even then they couldn’t promise it would be refunded. They’ve done it for me before so idk. Just pissed me off.

Wow. There is a lot of unhappiness in these comments. I just joined and I’m super excited about trying the vitamin c cream in the March box and the clay cleanser looks fun too!
I skipped this one but I’m super tempted to unskip bc of the akar eye serum which has so many amazing reviews and the aveda hair conditioner. Aveda rules. I can’t compare it to any box before but the box has a lot of value and even enough clean beauty, which I prefer.

Sarah E!

Just cannot justify this box anymore. Seeing the Chella quad that is 2seasons old is it. Now I know where people get those mystery makeup boxes from…bad beauty boxes like these.

I received my box today (subscribed on Amazon). Good news is there are no substitutions, bad news- black eyeliner! Odd think- the card that was included with tips advises to use silicone-based primers for eyes! I know there are a lot of us who are avoiding silicons on face or hair and this kind of advice made by beauty expert that Allure should be, is in my opinion just weird.

Pink5

Some of the newer editors/advisers seem to be kind of under-informed.

Or maybe I’m just getting old. 🙂

This is my first time to hear about the Akar Skin brand. The item alone is worth quadruple the amount I paid for the box. Looking forward to trying this on my undereyes. My face does not go well with face oils (from high end ones to drugstore brands), I hope my eye area will act differently! lol

Reply ButtonReply

Jean

I’m about to finish up a bottle of this eye oil. I love it and am glad to get another. One drop does both eyes. I hope it works for you!

Reply ButtonReply

missann

I quit allure when the price went up and honestly, I don’t see much change. The full size stuff is pencils and mascara and I just don’t see it for $23

Reply ButtonReply

jazzjune

Right. $8 dollars more and the same product offerings? The Moonchild palette is from one of their previous $15 boxes that came out over a year or so ago.

Reply ButtonReply

Shell

Everyone getting the box through Amazon is stuck with yet another black eyeliner and the hero patches- I skipped- completely boring!

Reply ButtonReply

Coco1

But on the Amazon photo there’s an asterisk next to the eyeliner, which says in tiny print, “Shade may vary: Black Sea, Pfeiffer Beach or Dorado Beach.” So I’m hoping there’s color variation with the eyeliner in the Amazon boxes. 🤞🏻

Oh my…I’m not digging this one. Signed up for ipsy this month instead. I started limiting myself to one beauty box a month and I tend to switch back and forth between Allure and Ipsy GBP, and Ipsy won my money this month lol

Reply ButtonReply

Jane

Im keeping this month for Akar. I liked the tiny sample I got earlier but I couldn’t justify buying full size when I am product overload. I’m almost 50 & maskne is no fun! So I will swap for all acne patches I can. I can bet I’ll get the peel.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I kept this one for the Akar after subbing last month, but I think whether I stick with it will depend on May’s box. I’m currently loving Fashionsta and how the products are ones I’ll use, and full size, so at this price point I’m tempted to drop Allure and stick to Fashionsta for a while.

Reply ButtonReply

Errmmm

YES! I love Fashionsta too. They’re almost the same price as allure yet they include at LEAST 5 full size items, sometimes 6 or 7! and I always LOVE at least 3-4 of the Fashionsta products each month. The value is insane.

Then along comes Allure with their Chella shadow and Cargo eyeliner. I’m sorry but with the brands Allure has access to, I find it pretty hilarious that we’re getting a Chella eyeshadow quad and Cargo eyeliner. I don’t care if it’s a color other than black. It should be a Tom Ford eyeliner or an hourglass eyeliner. Not Cargo. (no offense to Cargo, but I don’t think of it as high end or even mid-end.)

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Speaking of Tom Ford, *is* there a beauty sub that only specializes in luxury brands? Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, etc.?

Because I’d be interested in that. I mean, way, WAY more so than the standard offerings.

I just think the entire beauty subscription market is based on little-known brands or unknown products that are being offered to the companies for free or very low cost for promotional purposes. Tom Ford doesn’t need that.

Lana

I’m keeping the box for the eye serum. It’s otherwise pretty uninspiring. Also, I’m afraid the box will go under and I’m subbed for many more months, it’s going to be an endless sub if I keep skipping

What happened to getting a sheet mask or eye patches in every box? that was good for a while

Reply ButtonReply

Ash

Yikes. They are probably ending soon. This is bad. Repeats and nothing brands… goodbye allure. I loved you so much.

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

Allure has been around for 30 years and is owned by Condè Nast, who own Vogue, Vanity Fair, etc. Out of ANY beauty box on planet earth, this is the least likely to ever go out of business!

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

Exactly!…..lol

Sarah

I’m really only interested in the Akar, so I just skipped on Amazon. I think I skipped last month, too. Sigh…

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

How the mighty have fallen

Reply ButtonReply

Brooke

That’s what I’m talking about!! So disappointing. This was my first sub ever, years ago and it was so good. Now it’s like the $5 Walmart box.

Reply ButtonReply

Jody

I remember a teeny tiny bottle of this eye serum. I remember liking it and then dropping it in the sink and it all poured out. lol. It could have been from Allure or Ipsy?

Reply ButtonReply

Sherry

wow, when did it get to $23? I was considering it until I saw what a huge price increase it has been since I last ordered one

Reply ButtonReply

Lana

Last October 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

Last year it increased with promises of rainbows and gold. They haven’t delivered.

Reply ButtonReply

Brooke Brooks

It’s almost worse than before. The only thing decent this month was a new member gift, which everyone should have gotten, especially considering what an old product that is.

Carol

This box got worse with the price increase. It was the first beauty box that I ever purchased, but I haven’t bought one in forever lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

Agree four

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

No, thank you Allure. Like others said, Akar is the only thing that’s interesting. But I do have a lot of eye cream, so I will survive without it. I’ve gotten only 1 box since the price increase. Boxes used to be so much better. The value is there I guess, but it’s just not anything I would use, so the value to me is much less.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Additionally, they’re claiming the Maapilim is a full size which, if you check their website, it is not.

That’s annoying.

Reply ButtonReply

Coco1

1 oz. is the full size on the Maapilim website, in your choice of a glass jar or “travel-friendly plastic tube,” and retails for $49. Allure is sending the 1 oz. plastic tube, so it is full size.

I calculate the RV of this box (not including the 6th item, the foil packets) as $184, which I think is really good for $23, especially since I will use all of these products. The eye serum and moisturizer alone retail for $134.

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

Description lol autocorrect again

Denise

Oh I see it now it’s tiny script on the bottom of it that says day and night it just doesn’t say it in the discrimination of it that I was reading. Since msa has it listed a moisturizer, I had no clue there were different ones thanks

Annette

The day/night cream at 1 oz is full size on their site. It retails for $ 49 .You may be confusing it with the regular moisturizer.

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

I cant find the day/night listed anywhere

Denise

If it is the day/night it’s super confusing because it says moisturizer, so I was going off of that also

Pink5

I think I remember getting the peel pack. So if I did, allure will send me the Hero patches which I won’t be using because I don’t get pimples any more. (One of the few benefits of getting old)

I remember getting the Moon Child palette in a box. I didn’t keep it because I don’t use highlighter.

I’m kind of disappointed with Allure. They jack the price but don’t follow through a better experience.

Reply ButtonReply

JoJoB

I am not try to be snarky here I promise but I can assure you that not getting pimples has absolutely NOTHING to do with getting old and is not one of the benefits of ageing for everyone. I am still going strong in the acne department at my age and have never slacked off so count your blessings!

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

I get more pimples now at menopause because my hormones don’t know which end is up. Even younger with no birth control I only got them on the side of my nose when I was sick and blowing it alot. Some days nothing. Other days three or four. I wash my pillow cases and they aren’t where I talk on my phone. I can’t narrow it down to anything else

Pink5

I’ll be 60 on my next birthday.

Elle

The pimple patches are actually tiny hydrocolloidal bandages, so they would also be good for covering bug bites or small wounds and will speed healing

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I sliced my finger on a kitchen knife and these “Pimple patches” were great for helping it heal. Small enough that they didn’t mess up my work typing like the bandaid did.

SBR

I remember the peel packs. I had to search to see if the acne dots were a repeat, but it was a different brand. Maybe my 11yo will like the acne patches.

Reply ButtonReply

Randie

Does anyone know what the Amazon variation is?

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

They show the Hero patches. Eye pencil will vary.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

LOVE M61 yippee!

Reply ButtonReply

Errmmm

So do I, but unfortunately it’s a variable. Why does Allure do this? I don’t need pimple patches (I did 25 years ago), but I need the M61. I really hope I get the peels and not the pimple patch.

Marisela

Didn’t we already get this?
