When I first opened this package I found myself wanting to really love these earrings. But as someone who didn't generally wear larger hoops, I was hesitant. I know it might sound weird, but maybe some of you can relate: these felt way too "cool" for me. I have always secretly wanted to be someone who wore hoops and made it look effortless, but I never thought I was really pulling the style off. I wore these around the house at first, then out and about, and now I can officially say I love the look and I think it is working for the minimal style I find myself drawn to this year. The twist in the hoops themselves helped. It felt more decorative than a plain hoop. The size feels both subtle and bold and they have a good weight to them. The 18k gold plating isn't fake looking or garish and it complements my real gold studs and huggies I often wear in my other piercings. My only real complaint is the style of the closure because it really does look costumey, but no one can really see that when I am wearing them.
They look just as great with a fun sundress as they do with this black Adidas tee and leggings.
Verdict: This month, Cali Tiger delivered another solid basic look for my daily jewelry. Sure, hoops were something I never would have picked for myself, but I am amazed at how often I have worn these. I even went so far as to snatch up a hollow vintage 14k pair of oval-shaped hoops here locally to give myself some hoop variety. Cali Tiger feels a little more like basics than some of the other jewelry subscriptions out there, but so far I am enjoying the selections and I find the quality nice enough to justify the subscription cost.
