Extra Treat: Uriage Thermal Water, 1.7 fl oz. - Estimated Value $4.08 (buy 5 fl oz. here for $12.00)
This was an extra treat included for loyal customers. This spray can be used on your face and body to cool and hydrate. You don't need to rub this in or wipe it down, just spray and let it cool your skin down instantly. This formula is a powerful treatment formulated with trace elements and mineral salts, a source of radiance for your skin to moisturize, soothe, and protect. Summer can be hot where I live and we've been having 85 and above degree days. I used this on myself when I was outside for a few hours with my kids. I used it mainly on my legs and arms when I was feeling extra hot. I have to be honest though, I didn't notice a huge difference in my skin after using it. I didn't feel a big cooling sensation and my skin didn't feel moisturized. It just felt like sort of cooler water was sitting on my skin. I honestly would rather use a spray bottle to cool myself down on those extra hot days that I am not in a pool because I just didn't really see the benefit of this product.
Kneipp Valerian & Hops Mineral Bath Salt in Dream Away, 2.1 oz. - Retail Value $4.00
I have not been taking baths as much as I would have liked this year. If you follow my reviews then you might remember that I told myself that I would use my beautiful master bath more often for a little self-care time. I was really excited to receive this bath salt packet because I needed some me time and I knew it would help my sore muscles. This blend is all about relaxation to help you doze off to sleep easily. It is made with essential valerian oil and hops extract, known for encouraging relaxation. It helps to quiet the mind and relax your body. Yes, please! This bath salt smelled so soothing and unique. It left my skin feeling soft and help to relax my body and mind after a very long day.
AVEDA Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner, 1 fl oz. - Retail Value $12.00
This is a vegan and plant-infused leave-in conditioner that has some amazing reviews! This is a no-rinse conditioner that can be applied to wet or dry hair to instantly hydrate, detangle, and protects all hair types and textures for up to 72 hours. This formula helps to detangle while protecting your hair from thermal styling along with a naturally derived UV filter that helps protect hair from the drying effects of the sun. My mom used to work for an AVEDA Salon for many years so I used their products for a very long time and am familiar with the brand and the products. My hair is very long and super thick, and my curls tend to cause pretty big knots at the back since I only wash my hair every other day. I really could use a leave-in to help with those extra knots that conditioner just doesn't fully help. My issue with leave-ins is that in order to have them work with my thick hair then I have to use a lot which leaves me with a residue as though I didn't rinse my hair thoroughly, leaving my hair sort of sticky and stiff. I hoped that this product would work, but I found that it did the same thing. It helped slightly with my knots, but not a ton and as I brushed I got that little film of product coming off of my hair onto my brush and leaving residue on my hair. This was a hard pass for me and my hair which really bummed me out since this has so many amazing reviews!
Bellapierre StayPut Brow Gel in Chestnut - Retail Value $25.00
I just tinted my eyebrows after a year of not being able to get to the spa. I really liked my eyebrows to be darker, but since they are so light I can really only achieve that look with a tint. Once that tint fades though or if I can't get to the spa right away, brow gels or pencils are perfect for me! I did use this gel to test it and really loved it, but I don't know if you can really see the full color and coverage since mine is so dark currently. This gel is interesting because it feels like a gel but it is wax-based while also being waterproof. You can really build with this shade and get a firm hold and solid coverage. I am also loving the packaging with the little brush that just pops off the top to use for application. This isn't something I am going to use right away, but it will be handy to have as my tint fades.
Nails.INC Nail Polish Blossom Kisses – Estimated Value $11.00
I've been trying to polish my nails once a week, a great polish just makes me feel great. I don't have a ton of polishes though and now that my daughter wants her nails polished too I was so excited to get such a pretty pink! This polish really fell flat for me though. It was super thick and caused a lot of streaks that I could not smooth out. It was also really sticky that caused some weird bubbles and lines to form. I didn't love the color on me, but the fact that the polish gave me such a poor finish I wasn't too excited about how my nails turned out.
Earth Harbor HELIOS Anti-Pollution Youth Ampoule, 1 fl oz. - Retail Value $48.00
This bottle is so beautiful! This oil is great for renewing skin through stem cell technology while restoring depleted antioxidants, normalizing skin pH, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. They recommend using this for skin in need of aftersun replenishment and bold defense against the elements. Some of the main ingredients in this oil include red algae astaxanthin, plant stem cells, neroli flower, sweet orange oils, cranberry seed oil, marula, grapeseed, baobab, and borage seed oils. I really love that for recommended use they say how versatile this blend is so you can really use it as you need. I can't say that I have noticed a huge difference in my skin just yet with this oil, but it does leave me feeling hydrated and refreshed. I have been using two drops at night after a long hot day in the sun for that extra boost.
Verdict: This month's box was another miss for me. There didn't seem to be any showstopping products to make the other smaller items still feel special. The Earth Harbor Ampoule is lovely and my skin is loving it so far! The eyebrow gel is another product that I liked, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't live without. It will be good to have on hand when I need to fill in my brows as my tint fades, but other than that I won't use it every day. The thermal water was sort of confusing to me since it didn't feel cooling when I used it on my very hot and sweaty skin. The leave-in might have just been an overuse or just not the right product for my hair, but it left so much residue behind that I felt I needed to wash it again the next day. The products this month have an estimated retail value of around $104.08 which is great for a $21.00 box. I am sad that there was another month of just so-so products for me. I normally love this box and always tell people that it is totally worth the cost, but the past two months have just been eh. Maybe it is just that weird seasonal transition period and the products might not be working well for me personally, but I will always remain hopeful that next month will be better. How was this month for you, did it fall flat? Let me know in the comments!
