Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2021 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Ipsy Glam Bag April 2021 Review

Included is a card that usually details each of the items but also outlines beauty tips and tricks.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's theme is "Force of Nature," and the bag has a cute, colorful, abstract coral design and zipper.

SERUMKIND Black Blossom Drop, 5 ml - Estimated Value $8.83 (Buy a full-size 30 ml for $53.00)

Serumkind’s Black Blossom Drop facial serum has a highly concentrated and effective single-care formula that is vegan and cruelty-free. This serum really balances out my oily skin. There is a super-fine line between hydrated and greasy, and the Black Blossom Drop serum really helps me toe the line. The product goes on smooth and light, and leaves my face feeling great! It is super lightweight, with an almost gel-like consistency. With a winning trio of concentrated black tulip extract, niacinamide, and ceramides, this serum helps strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, creating softer, more supple-feeling skin. The product soaks right into my skin, is quickly absorbed, and leaves my face looking firm and bouncy. It has no aggressive fragrances, making it PERFECT for my sensitive skin. The one thing I will say is that this tiny, baby-size dropper made it quite challenging to get the product out of the bottle — but I am glad I persevered. I look forward to trying more products from this brand.

BEAU GÂCHIS Large Shader Brush, 1 pc - Full Size! Retail Value $17.00

I’m going to be honest — I have spent most of my life applying makeup last minute, on-the-go with… My finger. BEAU GÂCHIS has opened my eyes to the luxurious application experience of a fancy brush. This large shader brush is so, so, so soft and fluffy but densely packed, with a rounded tip for precise application. The brush made applying my cream highlighter a breeze. It was a much more delicate and controlled application than my fingers. The highlighter went right where I wanted it on the first try. Esthetically, this brush is winning. The cream-colored, lightweight bamboo handle paired with the gold inscribed ferrule, topped with a full head of synthetic bristles, make this brush an eye-catching addition to my vanity.

KOSETTE Salt Body Scrub, 30 g - Estimated Value $4.80 (Buy a full-size 150 g for $24.00)

Oh, I like this! Kosette’s Salt Body Scrub has a wondrously super-fine exfoliant that made it effective but also gentle on my skin. I used this in the shower right before shaving my legs and got one of the closest, smoothest shaves of my life. I did find that afterward my skin was a bit dry, so I would recommend following up this and any body scrub with an intense moisturizer. Infused with gray sea salt and bamboo charcoal, this product buffs away dull and dead skin cells while absorbing and removing impurities.

TWISTED SISTA 30 Second Curl Spray in Coconut Limonene, 8 oz - Estimated Value $1.12 (Buy a full-size 8 oz for $8.99)

This TWISTED SISTA 30 Second Curl Spray in Coconut Limonene smells divine! Perfect for the summer months when I want to smell as tropical as the Hawaii vacation that I would love but cannot afford, lol. I’m one of those girls who ties up their hair the second I am able to return to my true house troll form, away from prying eyes. So, this curl spray has been a lifesaver. A quick spritz all over, and I have a head of revived curls that make it look like I wasn’t just sitting on the couch in oversized sweats with my hair in a messy top knot.

ORYZA BEAUTY Golden Hour Shimmer Eyeshadow, 8.0 g - Full Size! Retail Value $20.00

The Golden Hour Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette from Oryza Beauty is the cutest, most compact little palette ever! I love that it includes four incredibly versatile shades and not just one single shadow. Whenever I receive single shadows in a subscription, I always have grand plans to incorporate it into my makeup looks, but then I forget about it, I lose it, or I simply don’t want to pull out three different products to create an eye look. I see myself reaching for this compact cutie to create a neutral look or tossing into an overnight bag as a “just in case.” Created with high-quality, rice-based products, these shadows are formulated with moisturizing and protective ingredients like jojoba oil, sunflower oil, shea butter, and more. Not only do they make your eyes look good but they are also good for your eyes. Each one of the four shades in this palette are soft, buttery, and pigmented, ranging from a shimmery metallic rose gold to a warm nude. These are my colors! I see some golden summer goddess eye looks in my future.

Verdict: This month’s Ipsy Glam Bag gave me a lot of new products to try. I received a diverse group of products. In my opinion, this was a really good month! The Serumkind facial serum was incredibly gentle and lightweight on my skin without skimping on hydration. I am really excited about the Oryza mini palette — I love the shades and how compact it is. The Twisted Sista Curl Spray and the Kosette Salt Body Scrub are staple products that I will always need in my life, so I’m happy that I received them from brands I haven’t really purchased from in the past. My horizons have been broadened. With a retail value of $51.75 on this astounding $12 subscription, this month just solidifies why IPSY is one of my top three favorite subscriptions!

Just got my May Ipsy X today. Still haven’t received the April Glam Bag even though they’ve shipped it twice. I was really excited to try the facial serum, too!

Finally got a replacement April bag. Got an old, plain quilted bag – they said they were out of the April bags – maybe with all their shipping problems they should keep extra on hand.
The replacement items were all leftover randos from a bygone era. They were mysteriously completely out of every single item from the April bag.
Except – amazingly, they were still able to come up with my add-on item.

I added that Oryza palette on to my April Glam Bag and was really impressed by it. Its way more pigmented than i expected it to be and super easy to blend. I never end up using single eyeshadows either, no matter how much I plan to or want to. I just always end up pulling out a palette because its easier. This little palette is perfect and I’ve already used it several times since getting my April Glam Bag on May 6th (lol I am still upset about that). Ive absolutely loved using it every time
