Ipsy Glam Bag Plus May 2021 Choice Time!

I’m very pissed off at Ipsy. I never got the email for personalization and now it’s closed.

So I just looked at my confirmation email and noticed that the total seemed high given what I eventually chose, so I investigated. The claimed value is $167, but my add-on is worth $24 so in fact my bag total is $143.95. I’m not thrilled with the bag tbh. My most expensive item is the Ahava hand cream they chose for me (which I’ll use and I do like Ahava products), but with the choices I had I could either end up with two blushes or two hand creams. I ended up with two hand creams. I thought it used to be a guaranteed value of $150, but I see they updated that to $120 back in February. Oh well, I am planning to cancel once I get my point redemptions anyway. I know I’m in the minority, but I feel like my bags were better before the extra customization. Anyway, I still think it’s sketchy to claim your bag is worth a certain amount when you’ve paid extra for those items.

I feel like I got another GREAT bag this month. I’m really happy with everything I got, even though I wasn’t initially excited about the Shea Butter (I have so many lotions just sitting in drawers). I like that ipsy is branching out a bit with nail stuff and deodorants.

I wasn’t offered the Fenty eyeliners, which is fine, I have MANY to get through. I feel like I dodged a bullet with some of the leftovers like the About Face and Haus Laboratories liquid eyeshadows.

Ipsy picked the Ahava hand cream and the Tarte in orchid which I’m really happy with!
I chose the purlisse blush in mauve, gel nail stickers and the Euphoric perfume stick! I’m excited about everything. The only tough choice was the blush vs the violet Voss palette but I’m too curious about the blush. I think a cream blush will be nice for summer! I added on the beauty crop eye primer for $3.

* LOGICALLY SKIN Wrinkle Target Eye Cream — never heard of this brand, and I’m really loving the Veriphy 20/20 eye cream I received through Ipsy so probably going to pass this along to my mom

*TARTE Maracuja Juicy Lip in Orchid — I like Tarte products and this is a pretty color, I’m happy to receive

*CLEO + COCO Charcoal Deodorant in Great Expectations — my boyfriend has been sampling aluminum free deodorants and hasn’t found the right fit, I’ll be passing this on to him to try (other choices in this category were the Complex Culture concealer, Hanalei Lip Treatment or Hey Honey Eye Serum)

*MILK MAKEUP Kush HIgh Volume Mascara — I’ve heard very mixed reviews on this mascara but I’m a mascara addict and I always love trying new formulas. I really really like the Milk Kush Mascara Primer (other choices in this category were the Ona New York Serum, Purlisse Blush Glow and Benton Cleanser)

*AURIKAH Parfum Stick in Euphoric — I love perfume and rarely see it offered through Ipsy so I figured I’d give it a go (other choices in this category were the Haus cream eyeshadow, Dr Brandt Cleanser and Shea Brand Shea Butter)

This is far from an exciting bag for me but hoping I like the products more once they arrive.

Those Purlisse blushes look so nice and I am kind of regretting not picking one up in add-ons (I was so excited when I saw the Sunday Riley A+ that I just grabbed it and quickly checked out lol). Hopefully they will be in second chance add-ons.

I’m starting to think about picking up Plus again after my Allure subscription ends. Looks like they’re starting to get better brands.

I really liked the Plus spoilers this month, so I reactivated the old account I had (when you needed 2 accounts just to get base + Plus!) and I’m SO GLAD that I did!

I’ve been wanting to try the Tarte Maracuja product for months, & I’ve almost purchased it a couple of times, so that’s a big win for me. I would’ve chosen a different shade of that & the Purlisse blush if I could have, but I’m satisfied with what I’ll be getting.

I’m really excited to try everything except the serum (which, even though it isn’t exciting, it’s not disappointing, either.) I’m kind of glad that Plus customization is after X, because this great Plus bag took out some of the disappointing sting from the X reveals!

After the April Boxycharm fiasco, I decided to cancel which has brought my subscriptions down to one; ipsy plus. It’s like the ipsy gods knew this, and made it AWESOME!

Ipsy chose

LOGICALLY SKIN – Eye Cream: I love me some eye cream, so bring it on!

TARTE – Maracuja juicy lip in Orchid: I really wanted this, and couldn’t be happier

I chose

VIOLET VOSS – Windflower palette: I was really hoping this was an option. I have loved every palette from this brand so far. (Other options were Ona New York serum, Purlisse BB cheek glow; Kush mascara; Complex culture concealer)

DR BRANDT Vacuum Cleaner: I love this stuff and grab it every chance I get. (Other options were Shea brand Shea butter in rose [wish this was in add-ons], Haus laboratories gunmetal creme; Fenty liner in the color grillz)

CLEO + COCO deodorant in Great Expectations. I love natural deodorant so I thought I’d give this one a try. Nothing beats my Lume, though. That stuff is seriously great. (Other options were Illuminati palette, Hey Honey eye serum [almost picked this but thought two eye creams would be overkill], Hanalei lip treatment t in clear)

Super happy this month.

I got the two things I was hoping for: a Tarte Maracuja lip and the ManiMe nail stickers so no complaints from me!

I’m having mixed feelings this time. I got a brush set by Shaina last month and am getting another one this month. I do need more brushes but it seems like a lot to send in two months. About have the choice options that are showing here are things I’ve already received in those exact same scents/colors/brands so that means only about half the things here were available for Ipsy to offer me to choose from. My choices were okay but nothing amazing or even great. Ipsy picked for me Logically Target Eye Cream and the Shaina B Miami B. Fab Brush Set. I chose Hey Honey Open Your Eyes Lifting Eye Serum, Ona New York Rejuvenating Serum, and Dr. Brandt pores no more Vacuum Cleaner. I wanted the Tarte lip balms but wasn’t offered those. I was offered a Fenty eyeliner BUT it was in the one color that wouldn’t work with my skin. I’m super pale but have an olive undertone that makes certain shades not work with me. I’d have liked my bag more if I had the choice of one of the Tarte lip balms and a different shade of Fenty eyeliner.

I wish the Vitabrid C12 cleanser had been one of my options. Otherwise, my bag is perfect… Ipsy chose two items I wanted (eye cream and the Tarte lippie). I chose an eye serum, the Dr. Brandt pore mask, and the kush mascara from Milk. I added on 4 items, too: sheet mask duo, Seraphine lip stuff, the Origins charcoal mask for my husband, and blemish patches.

Any way to stop getting brush sets?

Ok, I’ve always just gotten the original Ipsy bag but just started subscribing to the Plus and X bags…

I’m able to choose my 3 products for the X bag but not the plus.

Can someone please explain?

Will I still receive 3 different bags?

This was my first Plus where I’m underwhelmed with my choices, and the choices in general. First time I’m disappointed in the Ipsy picks as well. They gave me the pink brushes and the Ahava hand creme. Double meh. I made do with my choices.

I don’t like my choices so I’m waiting. I refresh the page every few hours. Eventually some choices will change and I can make picks that I’m happy about. The two items ipsy picked for me are great.
