April 2021 Petit Vour Review
Each box arrives with a card detailing the items included and their listed values. I liked the floral print on the other side.
Bali Balm Sweet Orange and Coconut Natural Lip Balm, 15 ml - Retail Value $33.00
This lip balm was incredibly lovely. Was it $33 lovely? No, but I can’t think of a lip balm that is. Props go to Petit Vour for getting it in our box! Anyways, this lip balm is made with a blend of coconut oil, shea butter, castor oil, cocoa seed butter, and kukui nut oil. And it also has coconut and orange peel extracts. It was incredibly hydrating, and it felt like it coated my lips with moisture. Honestly, I am impressed that a vegan and beeswax-free lip balm is this nourishing– that’s not the experience I usually have with vegan lip balms because some common hydrating ingredients (beeswax, lanolin) can’t be used in vegan formulas, and then my lips are left needing more moisture. As a bonus, the finish on this is glossy, but I didn’t have any issues with stickiness.
Evio Mascara, 8 g - Retail Value $24.00
This mascara was a miss for me. If I am going through the hassle of applying mascara, I want the effects to be noticeable, and this is definitely a mascara for those who want a more natural look. I didn’t have any issues with clumping, which is a plus, but even after multiple coats I still didn’t feel like I was getting any volume in my lashes. Oh well, you can’t win them all.
Mahina Rejuvenating Ormus Body Oil - Listed Value $11.00
I enjoy body oils, and I really liked the ingredients list on this one – it’s made from a blend of ormus, tamanu, rosehip, and kukui nut oil, and it has a bit of an earthy scent from the frankincense, sage, geranium, and vetiver. This oil was really nourishing and slightly heavy, but once I massage it in my skin soaked it up and there was no greasy residue left behind on my (dry) skin. A little bit of this does go a long way, so even though this bottle is small it still should last me for a while since I only use body oils once or twice a week.
BusyCo Glow Facial Serum Pads, 2 ct - Listed Value $1.50
These serum wipes are infused with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and lemon to brighten the skin. I liked the concept of these face wipes (they’re a bit similar to these ClarityRx wipes I tried through Ipsy), but I couldn’t actually find these available for sale individually online. I linked back to the other products from BusyCo in the Glow collection, and they have wipes for your body, hands, underarms, and sensitive bits, but if I wanted to buy these face serum pads I would need to buy them in a multi-product set. That’s not the end of the world for me– I found the pads themselves to be a bit dry so I wasn’t really feeling like I applied serum, and while these would be handy for travel I think I’ll stick with just minis and foil packets of samples. I do appreciate that these pads are compostable and made with recycled materials, though.
Verdict: This month’s box had some hits and misses for me, but overall I am still pleased because I was able to try four new products from brands I have never heard of before. The lip balm was the star for me, and even though I didn’t love the mascara that doesn’t mean it won’t work for other subscribers who have different makeup preferences than mine. Overall, everything in this box adds up to $69.50, which is awesome for the $18 cost of this vegan beauty box.
