Beauty Heroes May 2021 Review feat. Blissoma
Beauty Heroes included a handy info booklet featuring our brand this month: Blissoma. This is a brand dedicated to holistic and nurturing formulas that happen to be perfect for sensitive skin.
Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF25, 1.6 fl oz - Retail Value $52.00
You know I am an SPF addict and while I already have a fave sunscreen, I always love seeing what else is out there. This mineral formula has a lot going for it: niacinamide, aloe, tea antioxidants, cica, argan, and sesame seed oil. I actually expected it to be a little more moisturizing than it was but I am super dry, and I always want more moisture! The nude-colored cream was completely colorless on my skin and I would imagine it might work for most any tone as the color comes more from a radiance sort of boost than an actual tint, per se. I do wish this had a higher SPF rating, but if you don't suffer from dry skin and want a nice lower SPF option, this is a good formula to try.
Aura Phyto Brightening Serum, 1.3 fl oz- Retail Value $72.00
I wanted to love this stuff too but wasn't super impressed. The ingredients feature a lot of winners: vitamin C, a ridiculously long list of antioxidant-rich plant extracts, ferments, CoQ10, and gluconolactone (a PHA exfoliator). But to me, this just felt, well, sticky. I normally don't feel super bothered by stickiness, and I like the ingredients, so I think I will just swap this from a daytime serum to something I try out at night. This serum is geared towards brightening, and I find that vitamin C serums usually take a few months to kick in.
Verdict: Beauty Heroes had value this month for sure, but I don't think this was my favorite delivery from them. I just need more SPF on my face daily than the SPF25 inside and the serum didn't capture me as some formulas do. Regardless, for under $60 I tried out $124 worth of products. I passed along the SPF to someone else, and I will try the serum a bit longer. Sometimes with subscription boxes, you find brands you love and brands that might not be right for you. And though this delivery might have been me discovering a brand that isn't my favorite, I know it has loads of fans out there who were likely more enthralled by this delivery.
