GlossyBox June 2021 Review

GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, its value, and a tip on how to use it.

Extra Treat: Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, 2 sticks - Estimated Value $3.40 (buy a 20 ct stick pack here for $34.00)

I recently switched from using creamer in my coffee to using Vital Proteins collagen and I could not be happier! I feel so much better after my morning coffee, less full, my skin is looking better, and my hair is so soft and luscious. I've also started using the collagen peptides in smoothies, but you can also use this in water (hot or cold). It doesn't have an intense flavor which I really appreciate. This blend is packed with vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to help promote collagen production. Collagen is great to support healthy hair, nails, skin, and joints. This is such a great way to boost your collagen to give you an overall healthy glow from the inside out.

Seed Moisture Conditioner, 8.5 fl oz. - Retail Value $18.00

I am super picky about what conditioner I use. My hair is super thick and pretty long which means I am prone to knots. If I use the wrong conditioner it could take me 20 minutes just to brush my hair out. All of that said, I usually have my husband try conditioners for me, and I like to test them on my kid's hair as well. This conditioner was a big winner for everyone! It is super thick and hydrating, leaving hair silky smooth without leaving any heavy residue behind. This is a vegan conditioner made with mango butter, meadowfoam seed oil, and has a black tea and ginger scent. This helps keep my husband and kids' hair feeling strong and hydrated while smoothing any frizz, plus it smells so fresh!

Naobay Hemp and Green Tea Cleanser, 4.22 fl oz. - Listed Value $18.20

My skin is very dry and sensitive so I was excited to give this vegan and cruelty-free cleanser a try. This cleanser has a lovely green tea scent to it, bold without being overpowering. The formula is created to gently remove dirt and impurities both day and night. It is also designed to respect the skin's acid mantle so it won't strip your skin or leave you feeling dry and tight. I really wanted to love this cleanser, but it fell a bit short for me. It didn't really lather and did not remove my makeup fully. I decided to use this in the morning only and it worked better when I didn't have makeup to remove. My skin felt fresh and awake. While this didn't blow me away, I am going to keep it on hand to use in the mornings or if I run out of my regular cleanser but can't get out to buy more right away.

Piperwai Natural Deodorant Cream, Deluxe Mini - Estimated Value $6.00 (buy 60 mL here for $13.00)

About two years ago, I switched to a natural deodorant and fell in love. I didn't have a big issue transitioning to natural – which I heard was a thing – and I felt that it left me feeling dry and odor-free. Then the summer came around and I no longer liked natural deodorants. I actually got a terrible rash and bumps along with really bad ingrown hairs because the deodorant was not helping combat sweating so I was having irritation from my armpit rubbing. It was bad and after trying a few different brands I said never again to natural deodorant. Once I switched the rash went away within two days. That being said, I just could not bring myself to test this cream deodorant. I passed it along to my husband who still uses natural, but he did not like the application process of the cream and said that it just felt weird for him. I wish I was more into this product though because the brand sounds awesome! They noted that one of their products is equal to 10 plastic bags out of the ocean! The deodorant is made with activated charcoal to melt in your armpits, absorb moisture while giving you long-lasting odor protection.

Pili Ani Ageless Concentrate, 3 mL – Estimated Value $8.00 (buy 15 mL here for $32.00)

I am loving this concentrate so far, I wish the bottle was a little less tiny. I will say that a little does go a long way so I am hoping to have this bottle for a good amount of time. The formula is highly concentrated so they recommend patting about 2 to 3 drops over your face, neck, and chest. Some of the top ingredients in this formula include canarium ovatum fruit oil, coco-caprylate/caprate, caprylic/capric triglycerides, isoamyl laurate, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid. All of this combined works to moisturize, smooth, firm, brighten, and restore your skin's youthful glow. I have been using this at night and am loving the overall feel that it gives to my skin while giving it a glow that lingers into the morning.

Josephine Cosmetics DEW/YOU Liquid Highlighter in Claire - Retail Value $36.00

I think I just found a highlighter that I actually love and that I know I will use most days! I don't know if it is the applicator, but when I first applied this I was like, "omg this is nice." Then I saw how it looked in photos and was wondering how I have lived without adding some highlight every day. I have a nice glow going right now so I am using way less makeup, but I have found that adding a bit to each of my cheekbones is all I need to give me that light glow that makes me look like I have a bit more makeup on without being overdone. This formula is a natural complexion enhancer while capturing and reflecting light. The green tea extract will nourish your skin while the evening primrose and luminous radiance pearls help to give you a healthy sun-kissed dewy finish. This is quickly becoming a makeup staple for me!

Verdict: This month's GlossyBox was a lot more exciting for me! I was eager to give the cleanser a try, and while it didn't blow me away, I was happy to still find that it worked well for my skin just in the am. The ageless concentrate is perfect for me because it is a facial oil that works to moisturize your skin (I need more moisture always) while working to plump and restore your skin's youthfulness. While the conditioner wasn't a hit for me personally, everyone else in my family is loving it! We all have thick hair so I am happy to have a vegan conditioner that is still thick and hydrates while smoothing those frizzy curls. The big winner for me this month is the highlighter and I honestly can't believe I just typed that sentence. I never have thought of myself as a highlight girl, but I am over the moon for this brand! It isn't too shimmery and it adds just this delicate glow that looks so natural and effortless. The products this month have an estimated retail value of around $89.60 which is great for a $21.00 box but really is low compared to previous months. I was so happy to feel excited about this box again and to test so many new products from brands that were all new to me! I loved the curation and it felt like the perfect box for June. Was this box a big winner for you compared to previous months? Let me know in the comments!
