BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs.
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the medium size, which is recommended for dogs 20-50 lbs. Our beloved rescue dog, Rufus, is around 40 lbs. and is 12 years old. He can be a bit picky about toys but usually loves treats.
If you have a younger pup or just one who needs toys of the rough and tumble variety, I highly recommend trying the Super Chewer subscription (read our reviews to learn more!)
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

July 2021 BarkBox LE "Space Jam: A New Legacy" Review
The July 2021 box included 3 toys, 2 bags of treats, and a chew - this is close to what you can expect with your monthly subscription, though it does vary for everyone once in a while.
Sometimes, these items are marked as 'Sold Out' on the BarkBox app - but they have a little 'As Seen In BarkBox' section of the BarkShop where you can grab items featured in monthly themes.
Rufus wasn't the only one excited for this limited edition box! My kids are obsessed with the OG Space Jam, and counted down to the release of A New Legacy which did not disappoint!
Bugs Bunny
Bugs bunny! My son was so excited to see Bugs in this box, and he has slept with this every night since we got it. Yes, my kids basically took all of these toys since Rufus is not super into toys these days. If you have seen the new Space Jam, then you know, Bugs is the man! This toy has a squeaker in the basketball and crinkle throughout Bugs. If Rufus was into toys, I know he would love this one since he used to really enjoy chasing bunnies in our yard.
Porky Pig
While I love Porky Pig, I was a little bummed that we didn't get Taz. My nickname growing up was (and still is) Taz because I was a bit of a grumpy trouble maker at times. So I had and still have a ton of Taz items. Porky Pig is really funny though and a classic. This was another toy that Rufus didn't seem excited about so my daughter claimed this as her own and is now sleeping with it. This little guy is small but has a bungee, crazy crinkle, and a squeaker basketball. This is such a good dog toy for any dog besides Rufus that loves to play!
Lebron James
I was born in Cleveland so Lebron has been an icon to me before he was truly the icon that he is now. I love Lebron as a player and as a person, and I am so happy that he is around to be an idol to my son who is basketball obsessed! I also thought he was so good in Space Jam! This was another toy that Rufus was not really going to be able to keep, he is now sleeping in my son's bed where he can send basketball dreams and skills right to my son Fox!
The Pet Gourmet Chew Stick in Pumpkin & Honey – Retail Value $2.49
Rufus is still not feeling these chew sticks. We had one that he actually ate when my daughter gave it to him, but these last few he won't even lick. He sort of knocks it with his nose and then walks away. These treats are super healthy though so I passed it along to my Mom's dogs that I know love them. This medium chew stick is grain-free and made with pumpkin and honey. It smells sweet so I'm not super sure why Rufus didn't like it.
Bark Eats Tune Squad Treats Pork Recipe with Bacon
Once I saw that these were a pork and bacon treat I knew Rufus was going to go looney over them! I was right! We keep all of his treat bags in our pantry and he has been standing at the door once he saw me put these in there after my kids gave him way too many of them in one sitting. These are a chewy jerky that is naturally preserved, and the number one ingredient is pork. These are small enough to use as a reward, or you can even give a few as a hearty snack after a long walk. I love that I can confidently give Rufus treats that I know he is going to love and that are healthy for him.
Bark Eats Tune Squad Treats Lamb Recipe
We used to buy dog food that had lamb in it so I was pretty confident Rufus was going to enjoy this as well. I was surprised that he didn't gobble this up right away, but he seemed to not enjoy that it was a stick. Maybe he doesn't like stick treats these days? However, after a few licks, he ate this one fully and begged for one more. Another slam dunk!
Verdict: BarkBox was a big hit for everyone in my house! We are big Space Jam fans and waited not so patiently for the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. The toys really went straight to my kids, but I know Rufus doesn't mind. He isn't that big into toys these days, and I like to tell myself that he just likes to see the kids happy. The toys are all really well-made and have basketball squeakers, crazy crinkles, and one even has a bungee. The treats were where it was at for Rufus this month. He was really into the lamb and pork chewy jerky treats, and I love that they are always so focused on giving quality treats to our doggies. I keep these safely in our pantry to use for rewards or when we are out on walks. Rufus isn't loving the chews still, but I was able to pass them along to my Mom's dogs. This box brings so much joy into my house every month. Rufus is getting old and we love him so much, but he does get ignored a bit these days now that we have two kids (or in trouble for taking the kid's food or whatnot). So this box really gives us a few minutes to treat him like the prince that he is!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! But be quick! You can choose to start with the Space Jam box, "Camp Squeakaway", or a mystery box.
