Everyone knows Sephora is a beauty store where you can find almost anything and everything related to makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and self-care, but did you know they also frequently release curated limited edition sets? They recently released the Hello! All-Star Beauty set, and it only cost $10! Of course, I couldn't resist the urge to grab one.

FYI – this kit is still available for purchase (while stocks last)!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

This set doesn't come in a box- rather, everything is packaged inside of a multi-colored plastic zip-lock bag with a see-through star (this is the traditional packaging for the Hello! sets). This set also came with an info sheet with two vouchers on it- one for 15% off any full-size version of the products included in this set, and one for 20% off one full-size Sephora Collection brow item.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside This Limited Edition Box From Sephora

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown, 0.03 g - Estimated Value $8.12 (buy the 0.085 oz version for $23)

I am more of a tinted brow gel gal than a brow pencil one, but if I am using a pencil it most likely is this one from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It's got a good texture that glides against my skin without being so creamy it smears, and the fine point allows me to easily draw short flicks to mimic my natural brow hairs. Plus, you only need a little bit- so even a small size like this one will last a while. I also appreciate that there's no sharpening required- just twist it up when you need more product.

Sephora Collection Clear Brow Gel, 2 ml - Estimated Value $4.80 (buy the 5 ml version for $12)

I am really not a clear brow gel girl, but somehow I ended up really liking this one from Sephora's house brand. I used it to set my brows after using the Brow Wiz, and the combo of the two worked really well for me (and the gel didn't leave my brows feeling crunchy). I've actually been reaching for this brow duo more than my regular tinted brow gel, and now I feel really motivated to finish both of these mini eyebrow products. If clear brow gels are your thing, I definitely think the price is right on this to check out.

Here I am wearing the brow wiz and clear brow gel.

Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 PA+++,  10 ml - Estimated Value $7.20 (buy the 50 ml version for $36)

I genuinely and truly love this sunscreen and hope to see it appear more often in future boxes. Along with providing SPF 40 protection, it gives my skin a luminous finish that always has me stopping to admire my skin in the mirror.  This formula uses chemical sunscreen filters along with hyaluronic acid and cocoa peptides, and it doesn't leave a white cast (though I have seen a few reviews that this leaves a not-great finish on those with deep complexions). I have completely finished a travel-sized tube and purchased the full-size version that I am now working through, and I'm pleased to have this handy for future trips. If you're curious about how the finish looks on me, you can see some photos here.

First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA, 1 oz - Estimated Value $5 (buy the 2 oz version for $10)

I love love love this scrub- I am almost done with the full-size tube that I received in a previous Trendmood box, and I actually have a backup waiting in the wings. This is potent enough that I don't use it more than once a week, but it has made a noticeable difference in the discolorations on the tops of my upper arms. This has a blend of chemical exfoliants (lactic and glycolic acid) and physical exfoliation (very fine pumice buffing beads) that work in tandem to leave you with seriously smooth skin. Because of the pumice, this does take a little extra effort to rinse away, but the results are worth it.

OUAI Detox Shampoo, 30 ml - Estimated Value $3 (buy the 300 ml version for $30)

I'm really happy that I was able to try this sample through this kit- the full-size version came in the summer FabFitFun box along with a scalp massager, and now I can find out if I like it enough to try to swap for it without opening a full-size bottle. For a detox shampoo, I was impressed that this wasn't overwhelmingly drying on my scalp. It definitely left my scalp feeling clean, but my scalp didn't feel tight the way it does after other shampoos. I'm not sure if I like it more than my current shampoos, but this is definitely a solid product.

Mugler Alien Eau de Parfum, 1.2 ml - Estimated Value $3.84 (buy the 10 ml version for $32)

I've gotta say- the larger versions of this perfume have some seriously cool packaging. I dig the purple color, and I also dig the scent notes of this woodsy-floral perfume. The scent notes include jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood, and ambergris, and I really like this unique take on the traditional floral scent- I don't have any perfumes in my stash quite like it.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $10

Value Breakdown:

  • ABH: $8.12
  • Sephora Collection: $4.80
  • SuperGoop! : $7.20
  • First Aid Beauty: $5
  • Ouai: $3
  • Muffler: $3.84

This set promises a $28 value and my math adds up to $31.96! For $10, you'll be hard-pressed to not enjoy this purchase.

Key Takeaways

If you enjoyed the now long-discontinued Sephora Play! Subscription boxes, this Hello! All-Star Beauty Set is right up your alley. And even if that was before you got into subscription boxes, I think this set will be incredibly appealing to many. None of the samples included felt especially tiny, and a lot of really trendy, popular brands like Ouai and Supergoop! were featured. Even if you just want to use this to stock up on travel-size beauty products, this is still a great way to do it. I really enjoyed trying out the new-to-me products as well as seeing some familiar favorites, and I think Sephora did a great job.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I love reading Sephora set reviews! I’m not into the whole Instagram thing….I’m too old and boring….but the rest I can appreciate. A little odd there are two brow products, but still a decent set for $10.

I used to feel the same way about instagram.
However, if you want working promo codes for discounts – or you want to know the very instant a spoiler comes out Instagram is worth it.

I have an account just for shopping/ giveaways/ beauty how-tos that is not linked to friends and fam or any personal info. So it is actually rather anonymous if you don’t want your name or image out there.

Okay have fun :

Stop reviewing these. These are not sub boxes.

Please don’t stop reviewing these. I often times enjoy these reviews better than sub boxes. Anything beauty and at a discount price needs reviews 🙂

Limited edition boxes and mystery boxes have ALWAYS been reviewed on this site. So you are actually incorrect.

Also, Jessica is one of the most thorough, honest, and straight forward reviewers on MSA so please do not criticize her.

I for one want to know when a new Sephora Favorites box comes out so that I don’t have to keep track of it on their site myself.

Many readers have expressed interest in Sephora sets. MSA does a great job of mainly reviewing sub boxes, but these are nice too!

I kinda feel like the $10 Sephora boxes are all too similar lately, and I really wish they stopped including Alien in beauty boxes, period (seriously, why? that perfume is like 20 years old!), but I guess for $10 can’t really complain.
