First Impressions
While I did not experience the sign-up process, Beachly tailors subscriber boxes to your size preferences and the season. While I could have used these contents a few weeks earlier thanks to our repeated heatwaves, there is still plenty of time to put these summer items to good use.
Your sizes and preferences will be saved to your account for future inquiry needs.
What's Inside this Box
Surfhouse T-shirt
I've never owned a t-shirt with a surfboard on it. That all changed thanks to this tee from Surfhouse. It's a classic, cotton tee representing Leucadia, a beach community along the coast of Encinitas, California. Their secluded beaches provide the perfect serenity and waves for the beach community. I knew none of this information before pulling out this shirt. That alone was worth it. But it's a comfortable tee in a great color and allows me to look like I belong while laying in the sand.
Fair Harbor Boardshort - Listed Value $68
When I imagine a California beach experience, I picture rows of dudes in boardshorts. It's not necessarily my preferred look but I recognize it is for plenty of guys out there. If you're one of them, you can't go wrong with these boardshorts from Fair Harbor. They're comfortable and have a simple but stylish pattern that goes with anything. Best of all, they're made from 80% recycled polyester (11 plastic bottles). They also possess 4-way stretch, a back zipper pocket, and quick-dry technology. The more I talk about them the more I talk myself into trying them out at the beach.
Hayn Core Collection Black Slippers – Listed Value $24.95
I have a love/hate relationship with flip-flops. They're easy to put on, provide a "freeing" feeling for my feet, and, typically, are pretty cost-effective. But they're also not something I ever throw on outside of the beach. And they seemingly break all the time. It's for that very reason I was happy to receive this pair of what they refer to as "slippers" from Hayn. They're everything you'd expect from a no-fuss flip-flop. Nothing more, nothing less. If they last even a season, I think you're getting your money's worth.
Imperial Motion Convoy Black Camo Duffel - Listed Value $49.95
It's impossible to hit the beach empty-handed. You're gonna need towels, beverages, sunscreen, and much, much more. Don't even get me started if (like I do) you're also bringing a kid. So you simply can't have enough storage devices. The fact this duffel bag from Imperial Motion is both subtle, stylish, and can then be packed into itself in a 5" x 5" bag makes it a pretty invaluable tool. The 22L bag is made from a durable polyester ripstop and features premium seatbelt webbing handles and an exterior side zipper for quick access storage. This will get plenty of use - and not just at the beach.
Sun Bum Set
Sun Bum Original SPF 30 Sunscreen Lotion (30z) - Listed Value $9.99 + Sun Bum Ocean Mint Coco Balm - Listed Value $3.99
No trip to the beach is complete without the proper protection. I refuse to leave the house without a bag full of sunscreen - and more is better. It's why I was pleased Beachly added sunscreen and lip balm to its box with these products from Sun Bum. Both will be used immediately. I just wish there were more.
Freesurf Magazine - Retail Value $8
Rounding out the box's contents is an issue of Freesurf Magazine aka "Hawaii's Surf Magazine." It includes a series of amazing action imagery and other surf-themed information including athlete profiles and product reviews. If surfing is your sport, this is absolutely an issue for you. It makes for a great coffee table read and almost inspires me to grab a wetsuit, board, and hit the waves. Almost.
Verdict
This may have been the most anticipated summer...ever? A chance to get outside again and enjoy the fresh air. Nothing says summer like a trip to the beach. This is why opening a Beachly box continues to be an exciting and hopeful event. This box provided another mix of useful items that will be additive to anyone's beach wardrobe.
Remember, this box isn't cheap – especially if you commit to a full year's worth. But these are quality items that, once added up, equate to a great value. I estimated the subscription box's value at over $180 - nearly double the cost. If you're not California dreaming or wild about beach life I recommend looking elsewhere – or at least sticking to a single season (or two). But if you live near the shoreline, enjoy surfing, or simply love relaxing under the sun then this Beachly subscription box may be the perfect, convenient addition.
