Have you heard the latest on KiwiCo pricing? The subscription box that's all about STEM and STEAM fun and discovery for kids has made some changes to its pricing structure this month, and we dug into the details to find out what you need to know.

KiwiCo's New Prices

As of October 5, 2021, new KiwiCo subscriptions will be charged on the brand's updated pricing structure. Here are the new prices:

Panda Crate

  • Monthly recurring: $41.90
  • 3 month recurring: $119.70

What Else Should I Know?

Will my existing subscription be more expensive? Nope. Existing subscribers, KiwiCo has got your back. If you have a renewing existing subscription, you will continue to be billed at the old rate (the one you signed up for).

I'm a subscriber now, but what happens if I sign up for a new subscription? Even if you're not a new customer, if you add a subscription — say you get the Koala Crate now but want to add a Doodle Crate — you will pay the new, higher rate.

Is there any way to save? Renewing 6- and 12-month subscriptions from KiwiCo still provide you with discounts, and you can sign up for an MSA account and add KiwiCo to your favorites to be notified every time we add another KiwiCo deal!

I had a renewed subscription and was charged the higher new price. You say that if we had an old subscription and it was auto-renewed we should be charged the old price. That’s what I thought would make sense too and called customer service, but they said “NO” prices went up. How do you know we should be charged the old price, do you see that anywhere on the site so I can bring this up to customer service? Thanks beforehand.

In April of this year I got a Kiwi and a Koala 12-month subscription for $319.90 out the door (4 months free, April Fools Promo). Today, I try to renew those two subscriptions for another 12 months using the 4 months free Black Friday Promo and my total is $358.80.

Why am I seeing a 12% increase over the price I paid in April? How are the same products with the same discounts coming up ~$40 more if I’m being billed at the rate I signed up at?

I realize this site isn’t run by KiwiCo (I think) so I’ll be reaching out to KiwiCo customer service, however given that it’s a 24-hour flash sale I doubt I’ll receive a response before the sale is over. This post is just a word to the wise, be careful with KiwiCo, check your totals and read the fine print. I have no problem paying what things cost, but I hate a bait-n-switch where I’m told one thing and then delivered something else.

(For technical reference, I’m logging in to kiwico.com, going to “Subscriptions” under “My Account”, clicking “Extend and Save”, clicking “+Add 12 months” , removing the discount automatically applied (which is an even higher rate) , and applying the discount for the 4 months. I am not clicking through the email link)

I mean… its a $6.70 increase for a 12 month sub. And they run sales all the time. If you are paying month by month you are paying a lot more to begin with… To me it is not a big deal.

Bummer. I mean, I understand because the pandemic and inflation are legit. Still, these little $3 price hikes on multiple boxes mean I’m dropping a sub come renewal time. I’ll need to think long and hard if I renew my KiwiCo box after our gift sub is up. Maybe Grandma will buy her another… lol

According to this article, current subscribers will continue to pay the price they signed up for.

We are currently on a gift subscription, so it won’t auto-renew at the previous rates. I might call them to see if I can somehow “switch over”… rude out the rest of this gift sub but then as soon as it runs out, renew at the current rate? I had been planning on re-subbing under our own (not as a gift) but so many of my boxes are raising their prices that it starts adding up.

Suggestion: you should probably write how the price changed- isn’t more expensive, or less? What changed? And by how much? This way it would read much more as an update to your readers. You market yourself as a service to consumers, not as an advertising vehicle for the boxes. I’d recommend considering that when you post these updates. This is wholly unhelpful to me as it’s currently written.

Thanks!

We apologize! You’re absolutely right that it’s much easier to understand when you see the original prices, and we have added them in. Thank you for letting us know so that we could make the changes you needed!
