A Note from Simran & Team + MSA Updates

Hand putting smile emotion face to above normal and sadness mood for customer satisfaction and evaluation after service or marketing survey.

Earlier this month I went out to dinner with my family. We went to the same restaurant we always go to - The Afghan Kebab House. Anytime someone comes to visit, we go to this restaurant. A birthday? An anniversary? A graduation? Family hang? We go to this restaurant. As we sat down and caught up about holiday plans, the waiter brought out the bread and our chatter came to a screeching halt. My parents have been coming to this hole in a wall joint for 40 years, and they expect a certain kind of bread. Well, that bread was... different

They asked the waiter, "why a different bread?" There was no satisfying response. It just was. We talked about it throughout the entire meal. It all came back to the bread, and it didn’t end at dinner. Over the next week, all of our family group chats across three continents exploded with chatter over the bread at this one restaurant. Why? Well, of course everyone in our family knows about this restaurant because my parents have taken everyone and their mother (literally) here. The reactions were the same across continents - but, why? Something they expected on every visit that brought them joy was changed without an explanation.

As I watched the reactions unfold over the bread at The Afghan Kebab House throughout the week, I flashed back to all the conversations I’ve had with you, our readers, since the site relaunch. I had come full circle.

Thank you for all your feedback - in comments, the Reader’s Survey, and Zoom chats. One quote from a reader still sticks out: “It’s my morning coffee, and then I read The Washington Post and MSA.” You helped me - and the whole team -  better understand where we went wrong. In our best efforts to try and bring you something exciting, we ended up waltzing to hip-hop music. Yikes. It was awkward. It didn’t work. It sucked. I am sorry for that. Also while we’re here, I haven’t truly stepped out from behind the scenes beyond My Subscription Life. That sucked too. Allow me a chance to do this differently, because we are working to improve things with your feedback in mind.

Three New Things

First up - tomorrow you will be seeing a more familiar version of the website. Hopefully this update will make the website easier to navigate and more intuitive. It might not be perfect yet, but we will keep improving it. In the meantime, let’s avoid the surprises. Here’s what it will look like:

What changed?

  1. We moved the feed up.
  2. Each day we will update the top of the homepage based on what might be exciting to you, the community.
  3. In the feed, we will pin things that might be of interest, just like we did on the old site.
  4. The fonts are bigger, and we made them darker.

Second up - we revamped The Directory. Looking for a gift for the bookworm in your life? A subscription to please your inner chocoholic? The Directory makes it easy to explore the great wide world of subs and find exactly what you're looking for (we hope!). Each brand’s page features the essential information you might want to know about them, any reviews we’ve done in the past, and reviews and ratings from readers. Here are a couple of examples: Bokksu, Bespoke Post

Third up - you may have caught some of the new pieces we are writing. We thought we’d add some new flavors to the mix. Subscriptions are such a big part of all of our daily lives so we got curious - when did this trend start? The cat is out of the bag - I’m nerdy, the team is nerdy, we thought it would be fun to get nerdy with you all. We also wanted to meet more members of the community - have you met Melody (a.k.a. Natlovesmelody) from our Confessions of a Swapper series? Maybe you want to get to know (or get reacquainted with) folks at MSA so there’s now the My Subscription Life series - here’s the latest one on Christen. Lastly, keep an eye out for First Impressions; this is our follow-up review on a brand we got your feedback on from the “Should We Review?” posts. Brandi recently did Baby Discovery Box

What's Next

We need to work on consistency and timing. We have been late on spoilers, we missed details on posts, and we haven't always been super quick to respond to comments. This is not our intention, and we are frustrated with ourselves too. We are working on it, and hopefully you’ll notice some of the improvements. We will keep you updated on new changes to make these experiences better.

On Friday, we will be posting an update on what MSA is doing this holiday season. Of course there will be giveaways!

Also, we launched our first Community Review. We were thinking of new ways to involve you - the community - so we can learn from one another. Plus, who doesn’t love a new subscription hack?! Should we do more of these? Which sub should we do next?

AMA

From now on, let’s do this differently. We are MSA because of this community, and we are excited to talk about all things subscriptions - that hasn’t changed. We want to hear from you. Are you interested in seeing more reviews from the community? Would you be interested in reviewing your favorite subscription box? What did you think of the new articles - how was the flavor? Any questions we can answer? Tell us in the comments section - our eyes and ears are always open. I will do a follow-up post responding to questions next week.

Can we do more than JUST beauty boxes? Please? I would love to see more geek/nerdy boxes, home stuff, books, etc. All the beauty boxes you do review are the same ones every time. I am not much into the beauty boxes anymore. But I RARELY see reviews for anything outside that. Its the same boxes over and over. I tend to go elsewhere for my reviews.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Stop with the silly “series” you keep pushing. I don’t care about confessions of a swapper or whatever silly interview you’re getting paid to do. Real reviews is what people want and since you are clearly not financially able to do that without turning it into an ad people are leaving and going elsewhere. Stomping your feet crying and saying wait I’ll do better when people have been saying this for awhile isn’t good enough.

You guy did us dirty and it’s been a huge letdown. I’m glad to see this post acknowledging it. After the team made changes to the functionality of the site after getting feedback from the community (dates, number of comments, list vs grid, etc.) the new site design is both attractive and more user-friendly, and I see more improvements to the way it functions daily. (The most recent being, I can click the back button and not go back to the top of the last page and have to scroll down to where I was.) I really appreciate these changes. There are still a few things I’d love to see improved, but they have a lot more to do with content than design.

There are regularly more ads than there are reviews, and as many in the community have already noted, many of these ads aren’t even direct ads. They are ads disguised as reviews. This immediately makes me question the integrity and honesty of the writer’s actual reviews and erodes my trust in MSA’s review process. If an ad is a direct ad, it is often for a box you haven’t reviewed in months. For example, the last ad for Raddish Kids was posted in November and it was posted under Reviews> Reviews by Category> Kids’ Boxes. It’s not a review; it’s an ad. The last time MSA reviewed a Raddish Kids box? April. So why are you pushing a box that you don’t even review any more? If it’s not worth your review, why is it worth my purchase? I understand ads run your business, but the best ad would be an accurate review, with photos taken by the reviewer (much like Brandi does in her reviews of KiwiCo boxes).

MSA is overkill on FFF, Alltrue, Ipsy, BoxyCharm, and Allure and any other beauty box that exists. These are some of the most popular, but also the most basic boxes to the MSA community. Most of us started our subscription addiction with these boxes so we already know they exist. What we need are timely, accurate spoilers for them as they are released by the brand and honest, accurate reviews after the boxes have been received by the reviewers.

After that? We need new boxes. You call it an called an addiction for a reason! I am constantly looking for new boxes. At the height of my personal subscription addiction, I subscribed to over 30 boxes. I need MSA to give me my 31st box, and my 32nd. That means there needs to be an increased variety in box reviews because I already have the mainstream boxes you’re promoting. I am not looking for a LIST of boxes I can buy. I can research that myself and find hundreds of boxes I can potentially join. I need MSA to tell me if the boxes are worth joining. MSA needs to get back to reviewing boxes. All the boxes. As many boxes as you can.

Here’s a long list of boxes I’d like to see reviewed, again or for the first time: The Crafter’s Box, ArtSnacks, Paletteful Packs, Potomac Bead Box, The Plant Club, Sensory Theraplay, Crate Expectations, Raddish Kids, Pipsticks, PostBox by Postmark’d, Nicely Noted, Snailbox, Shaker and Spoon, Red Velvet NYC, Bake Eat Love (BEL), and Marshmallow of the Month. I’m open to other art boxes, kids’ activities boxes, stationery boxes, and foodie boxes that I don’t know about too! We are ready for more boxes and want them to come with more authentic reviews.

ALL OF THIS.
I logged back on today because I had read that MSA was going back to “the old MSA.” I was so disappointed to find that that just meant a slightly restructured homepage—the posts are still mostly ads, the content is still inaccurate (the FIRST post I clicked into had a major error, calling Allure a jewelry subscription), and the boxes covered are still just the already well-known options. MSA, we don’t need to know if the boxes that pay you big bucks for each post are worth it (we assume that you’ll say that they are). We want to know about smaller boxes we might not have heard of so that we can get an idea of whether THEY will meet our needs and be boxes we might subscribe to.
MSA, you have the right idea that there’s big money in subscriptions, but you still have your audience all wrong. The products you’re advertising are targeted at people who are NEW to the subscription world, while your audience is generally not. It’s honestly shocking to me that you’ve owned this site for so long without coming to understand that.

There’s still something going on with the reply comments where they aren’t going in order. A reply I made 21 minutes ago appeared above a reply made 9 hours ago, mine should have gone underneath. It’s not a huge deal if there’s only a couple replies but it’s a little frustrating when there’s several comments trying to scroll up and down to read the conversation in order.

Another vote for MaryZ! She is one of the reasons I still check in here. I look forward to her reviews.

Just wanted to say there are some really good, well thought out comments on this post. I agree with the others especially about articles where the writer has tried none of the products and the whole thing just looks like one big ad. Or the constant lists, where again, some of the subscriptions have never been tried. Quality over quantity should definitely be the rule here. I also think MSA needs to create alarms for themselves to remind them about events that happen monthly. This should really be clockwork at this point and I can understand people’s frustrations. There definitely needs to be more of a focus on spoilers and reviews (a greater diversity of subscriptions would be appreciated). These definitely seem to be lacking since the takeover… like starkly. This is just my two cents (or 4 or 6 cents, I seem to comment a lot! 😋)

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks, Snow! I agree – there have been a ton of helpful comments here and…support. I will definitely address each of these in the follow-up post. Thank you!

Alice

Whenever I go to the ‘other box site’, I’m glaringly reminded of how sparse and chilly MSA has become. The amount of information provided by the other site is astoundingly abundant – and current – as opposed to the ‘new’ MSA. The other site does not censor comments. Comments are instantly live. I miss the excitement of stopping by MSA multiple times per day knowing there wold be new spoilers and reviews every visit. I can go days now, and not miss a thing. I go to the other site for I do that’s current.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Hi Alice! Thanks for this feedback. This is more information on why the delay on comments – https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/where-is-my-comment. We are seeing if we can change how we can do the same checks differently.

If there are any particular spoilers or reviews that you have missed, please let me know!

Also Beth

This is such an interesting response. That post was originally from 2020, at which time comments were being much less heavily filtered and there wasn’t a commenting delay. It feels as if you could go back to the old system, if filtering is a challenge for you.

mandi

So true about the other site. I wrote something similar as a reply and it was here yesterday but has disappeared. I think there is some sort of glitch with the comment section though since I’ve noticed odd things here and there.

There are so many different sub boxes out there and it makes me sad that MSA readers are missing out. Just today I saw the new Neiman Marcus boxes and I know that’s something that would have been popular and got us talking. Remember the Popsugar NM boxes? I always loved reading Liz’s reviews on those.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks – we definitely did have a glitch in comments, but it should be better now. We will work on surfacing new ideas. Also if you ever want to see something onsite, feel free to email [email protected]. We often get feedback from readers on what would be exciting to see next, and we love that!

Sherri

Ok, I’m going to offer a suggestion, because I was just reminded of something that has caused frustration for me (and I would think others as well) since the change-over: please make an effort to be accurate with posts. Mistakes happen, totally understandable, but the frequency has been such that I have gotten to the point where I don’t feel comfortable relying on information MSA is providing and have to confirm things for myself if I’m interested in what the post is about. It feels like in the interest of just getting posts up, things are rushed and due care isn’t given to relaying correct information. It feels like you care only about volume of posts, not quality.
As an example, I just saw the the latest spoiler post for the Margot Elena winter box. It included prior spoilers – one of which MSA just recently announced would NOT be included in the box and had been substituted out. So obviously MSA is aware that the initial spoiler in question won’t be in the box, but there it was shown as being included in the latest spoiler post. It’s frustrating.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Hi Sherri – That is super frustrating, and sorry to hear this happened, especially on such a popular sub. The comments definitely help us catch things so thank you for helping in that way. We will do a better job of getting the details right and calling out the fixes as we go. Thank you for your patience as we get into a rhythm.

Lisa B

I think the changes you propose sound good. The one thing I would like to see improvement on is the photos. Please stop the copy and paste blurry look. Give us real photos please.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for the feedback, Lisa! Definitely not the goal, and we are working on it. We were debating on whether all photos should come from reviewers to make it more relatable. Welcome thoughts on this if you have a preference! Thank you!

Reply ButtonReply

Lauren

I enjoy seeing the “promotional” photos from the brand one time, usually in the main image for the post, and then opening up the post/article to see photos the reviewers took and having the ability to “compare” the two. It feels more companionable, like the reviewers are having the same experience we have as the subscribers, rather than the reviewers just being an extension of the boxes’ marketing teams.

Sarah

My primary disappointment has been the changing tone to a more “promotional” feel, rather than true reviews. Sometimes the images are clearly promotional photos sent by the company, rather than someone actually taking their own pictures of what they received and trying it. Or the copy at the beginning of the article is just a promotional blurb that came from the company’s marketing department. I don’t feel like I can trust MSA for true unbiased reviews anymore. I also get frustrated by “rollup” articles like “13 best wine subscriptions” – and it just lists all of them without any actual attempt to compare/contrast or give opinions on which are better. That feels like an ad, rather than a thoughtful recommendation on which subscriptions offer the best value compared to others. I can get used to the changes in the layout, but the changes to the content have been disappointing.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Appreciate the candor, Sarah. Also I really like the way you said – a thoughtful recommendation. We definitely have room to repair trust here and are working on it.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I agree with this completely. I feel like I’m looking at Buzzfeed articles that are just promotional sales instead of true, honest reviews.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thank you for the feedback, Danielle! We hear you loud and clear on this.

JoJoB

Exactly. It feels like MSA thinks we are stupid and don’t realize we are reading an ad disguised as a review. The latest “series” they are doing where they “interview” one of the staff is nothing but an ad complete with clickable links for the products the reviewer mentions. I learn absolutely nothing about the actual person other than that they love a certain candy (that I can click the affiliate like for and buy!). It feels insulting and insincere.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for the feedback, JoJoB. The goal is definitely to just get to know folks at MSA better, but looks like we have room to make this better.

Bee

THIS.

Alice

I miss Desiree (sp). She did marvelous reviews of the base Boxycharm using everything she received in the box in one ‘look’.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

We miss her too, Alice! She is taking a break to spend some time with family, but we are hoping she will be back soon too.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa B

Totally agree, her review was always the best! Miss you Desiree!

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

I’m sure she will love reading these. I know she misses writing for MSA. She took some time for family leave, but we hope she will be back soon.

Carol

I think it would be cool to have reviewers check back in with updates on items–Do they still like that makeup item? Was that skincare product effective? How did that clothing item do after repeated washes? Is that household item/electronic still working?
Sometimes I am interested in items that I know were reviewed in the past, but I wonder if the reviewer still loves them.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Love this idea, Carol! Thank you. If there is any particular brand reviewed in the past that you’d like an update on, just let us know in the comments. We can start with that one!

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

Would love to see some work done on the swap site. Recently there are listings that are ‘stuck’ as just listed when they aren’t and there are some users who haven’t swapped in months that still show as active. Any plans to revamp the swap site?

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Yikes – we need to improve that. We will be doing an update at the end of the year on what’s coming next. Swaps will definitely be getting much needed love and attention next year.

Reply ButtonReply

CDG

Some fairly old articles are being reprinted. I check the comments, and, if they’re two years old, then the article is, too; and there’s no way to know if it’s been updated. Please be up front about this; you could easily state if an article is a year or two old, plus, you could say whether or not details have been updated.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for the feedback! We kept the old comments to show how reader sentiment has evolved over time for the brand, but we will find a better way of doing this.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

Good point. I was a bit shocked when I saw a post about leggings and saw Anna (she’s been gone for awhile and she was definitely one of my faves!) Someone else mentioned our MIA reviewers from the past (Anna of course, Marne, Reagan, Hailey) and I, too, would definitely like to know what happened to them as I miss their reviews and the connections that are created. 😔 (Yes, maybe I do need to find a hobby). But this just attests to the fact of how awesome these ladies (and many current reviewers) really are. Wherever they may be, I truly wish them the best. They brought a lot of joy to my little life….and I hope they know how appreciated they were!! 😊

Reply ButtonReply

Julie B

Agree with this! I followed MSA from the early days when Liz was on her own. Then when she brought in the other reviewers, they were unique people who wrote about their cats, their babies, their husbands…so it naturally would feel odd when they “moved on” without a goodbye. A transition of old reviewers to new would have honored those leaving as well as us readers.

Ashley

It would be nice to know why they left or even when a reviewer decides to leave they could make a post saying they’re stepping away from MSA instead of leaving us hanging wondering where they went or if they/their family is ok because we so develop connections where you guys are like are friends. To see a review from them one day and then nothing ever again from them with no explanation; sucks! Even if they don’t say why they’re leaving, it would still be nice to know that everything is ok they’re just moving on from MSA.

Simran @MSA

Totally fair, and I will absolutely address this in my follow-up post. The writers at MSA are wonderful. Some folks have been here for years and contribute weekly, and we have some lovely new writers too. The writers you mentioned did take a step back, but we hope they come back to write about a few of favorite boxes in the future. We transferred boxes to new writers wherever there was interest.

Brandi

I appreciate you coming here with grace to acknowledge these issues. It may be too late for others, but for me, I am all about second chances (or third or fourth…) if someone shows authenticity. The issue I have had at times is the treatment of users by MSA. I move forward with cautious optimism that things truly are changing. Best of luck!

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thank you for another chance, Brandi. It means a lot to me and the team. For the treatment of MSA users, our goal is to always abide by our community guidelines h- https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/community-guidelines. If you ever see anything outside of the guidelines, please let us know – feel free to email ([email protected]) or comment here.

I might visit this site more often.I just read about these changes on Reddit. I almost forgot this site existed, which is sad because I used to visit at least three times a week prior to all the changes.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for coming back and giving us another chance!

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

Why was the site changed? It was perfect the way it was.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Hi Amy – Totally get it. We changed the site for two reasons (and this is definitely too much detail, but I want to make sure we are showing up for the community and rebuilding trust). First, the technology for our site was old (over nine years old), and we needed to rebuild to start fixing some of the problems readers have been experiencing. Second, we hoped the new design would be a way to curate new topics for readers, but that didn’t work so hopefully this new design is working better for folks.

Reply ButtonReply

Gabbi

I agree with everyone about the search function – it’s very frustrating when I go to search for, say, Ipsy spoilers for that month, and the posts that come up are for months ago, and I can’t find what I’m looking for easily. There are also SO MANY boxes/spoilers you guys are missing. I’ve been going to the “other” site as well since the change and the difference in coverage is astounding. The amount of advent calendars, box spoilers, and just boxes I’ve never heard of before that they post about startled me when I first saw it all.

The thing that has always bugged me the most is – what happens to these reviewers that seem to just fall off the planet, and why? People have mentioned Anna, and Ragan, and I remember the girl who used to review the Nordstrom box, I loved her. Marne was a great reviewer, she did a lot of boxes and was very thorough. We get attached to them and their lives/personalities after them reviewing so long and then they’re just poof! Gone. It’s frustrating, bothersome, annoying. I miss them, I miss the boxes they used to review (since typically once they disappear, the boxes they used to review go with them). Can you help me understand this better and how this will change in the future?

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for raising this, Gabbi! We have been tweaking the search since the relaunch; most recently we changed the order of how search results appear. Hopefully this helps! If there are any particular boxes/spoilers that you are missing on MSA – please let us know. We have a set group that we follow, but it sounds like we should be adding certain brands to our list. Lastly, we definitely did not do justice to goodbyes when folks left. For that, I apologize. I will address this in the follow-up post too. As I mentioned above, some folks have been here for years and contribute weekly, and we have some lovely new writers too. The writers you mentioned did take a step back, but we hope they come back to write about a few of favorite boxes in the future. We transferred boxes to new writers wherever there was interest / a match.

Reply ButtonReply

JoJoB

Thank you for saying it so well Gabbi. I am just dumbfounded that almost the entire staff was let go and no one said a word about it. We grew attached to the people reviewing these boxes and now poof! They are gone with no explanation. I have a feeling the reason there has been no explanation is because the explanation is as simple as this-the new CEO brought in their team and fired the old team. There is no way that Hailey, Ragan, Anna, Taryn, Marne, etc, ALL just left on their own at the same time. Why has this not been addressed?

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Hi JoJoB – Hopefully my note above to Gabbi helps clarify. Thanks.

mandi

There were ads online for freelancers for the site, so I assume they just found new people and didn’t want to keep the old reviewers. Maybe it was a distance thing? It would have been nice to have a goodbye post with their Instagram or twitter handles so we could follow their work.

Sarah

Haven’t really seen Hailey in a while. But also there was a man who was doing Nomadik or some other outdoor box… review. He’s gone too. I liked him. Also , they don’t realize that us old fogies are the ones who can buy the boxes. People over 40 are under represented.

Kristin

Marne left a long time ago to pursue other interests. I think she finished school and changed jobs. I can’t speak to the others.

Po

Just feels like too little too late. It’s not just the template or the spoiler delays, even the quality of the reviews has gone downhill. Some of you don’t even bother trying all the items. Really insane FOR A REVIEW SITE.
And I don’t think we’re looking for MORE series…. the stuff people come here for–reviews, spoilers, coupons–are already clogged up by the constant stream of advertisements and other clearly money-hungry ventures you guys must feel are more profitable than your readers.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks for the feedback, PO. I definitely hear you on getting the basics right, which we are focused on, and hopefully some of the new things will be of interest too.

Reply ButtonReply

mandi

I’m happy to hear this and I know you’ve changed some of the things to make it easier for us. I’m not sure if you guys still have relationships with people from sub box companies, but it seemed like Liz did since they constantly had very up to date info and some specials for MSA readers. For example, I’m assuming you guys aren’t going to do Better Than Black Friday week this year, which I understand, but quick info about boxes and specials like that are part of what make MSA special.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks, Mandi! I was nervous to write this, but I’m glad I did especially after reading all the comments. We definitely still do get exclusives and try to call out when it’s an “MSA Exclusive” deal, the FFF on the homepage has one right now. I’ll include a screenshot of this in my follow-up post. Also this is the best place to learn about what we are planning this holiday season – the events start tomorrow – https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2021/11/countdown-to-msa-holiday-shopping-giveaways-coming-soon.html. Thanks again for the support.

Lana

I do t really care about the layout, I got used to the new one fine. It’s the search function that truly bugs me – the results are not in chronological order and they are limited to one page. I like to scroll back a year+ of reviews

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Thanks, Lana! They are grouped together chronologically. We also added all reviews to each brand’s page, which you can get to by searching for the brand name. On the brand page you can see all MSA reviews and reader reviews too. Hopefully that helps, but please let me know if not!

Reply ButtonReply

Gabbi

I agree! When I go to search for a certain boxes spoilers for that month, like Ipsy, and all I see are a jumble of reviews and a main post describing the box (which I already know since I’m searching for it specifically), it’s super frustrating.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Yes! I could not agree with Lana more! The layout works pretty well, but not being able to see *all* reviews for certain boxes is very frustrating.

Reply ButtonReply

Stop censoring so much. Just let people comment. As long as they aren’t being a troll or cursing stop deleting or censoring comments. Not everyone is going to love every box or every item.

Reply ButtonReply

Simran @MSA

Hi there – As long as the comment meets our guidelines, we try our best to publish quickly. Here’s what can cause the delay sometimes – https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/where-is-my-comment.

Reply ButtonReply

Isabel

Simran, why was my comment on this thread never posted when I didn’t violate any of the guidelines?

Sherri

Agree. I may have gotten this wrong, but it seems to me that the real change in censorship (all comments having to be approved upfront, vs. removal of offending comments later) happened right as people were commenting about all the changes to the site. Admittedly, not everyone was as gracious as they could have been in how they phrased their opinions, but moving to full censorship just made us (ok, me – I probably should only speak for myself) feel even less heard, and even less like reader opinion mattered.

Reply ButtonReply

Brandi

ITA with this. MSA has lost touch with readers in recent months and this does not help.

Reply ButtonReply

EmmaLo

I used to be able to search for a specific box and see different categories of posts related to it, like reviews, spoilers, coupons, etc. Now when I search, the list of results doesn’t even show the latest spoilers of, for example, the Allure Beauty Box. I miss being able to quickly get up to speed on a box’s latest updates.
