This image shows all possible items for all choices.

Every season Rachel Zoe and the CURATEUR team will hand-curate more than $400 worth of their favorite fashion, beauty, and lifestyle items. The box costs $99.99 per quarter and ships to the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia. This box seems to always have a wearable fashion item of some sort, usually a piece of jewelry, skincare, and makeup, and a home or lifestyler item, making it feel very well-rounded. It is not uncommon to see CURATEUR-exclusive items that are one-time collaborations with higher-end designers.

First Impressions

My box arrived with a handy booklet full of info and pretty, editorial-style imagery. This booklet always feels like a fancy little magazine and the extra info on the brands/designers is a nice element that makes the box feel well-rounded and fashion-forward.

What's Inside the Box

U BEAUTY Resurfacing Compound, 1.7 fl oz - Retail Value $228

This isn't my first bottle of this treatment but it is the biggest I have ever received! And luckily, I like this formula a lot. It is aimed at smoothing texture and fine likes, aka "resurfacing" your face. This is accomplished through a potent blend of AHA's, vitamin C, and retinol. Together, they brighten, exfoliate, smooth, plump, and boost collagen production. These powerhouse ingredients are balanced with hydrating hyaluronic acid and vitamin E and skin-loving peptides. This formula has a medium-weight gel sort of texture and absorbs very easily and I didn't find it irritating in the slightest, though if you are new to AHAs I would start slow. Be sure to wear your SPF because formulas like this can cause sun sensitivity.

Kjaer Weis Im-Possible Mascara in 'Black' - Retail Value $32.00

This brand always has the fanciest and most beautiful packaging, which makes it feel super luxurious. This mascara arrived in a red metal (refillable!!) tube and nestled inside a lovely red box. I liked how it added length and volume to my lashes and it also boosted my curl. I need mascara to stay in place all day, especially since I have one eye that tends to get black smudges underneath while the other stays pristine. I wore this all day (to the gym and back) and was really impressed by how it stayed in place. The brush itself has two flat sides and two curved edges, which means it applies best with a sort of rolling motion. It has a slight learning curve but works great! My only complaint is that you do have to work a little to get it off in the shower but I found that my oil cleanser made decently-quick work of it.

Thula Tula Ivory African Zebra Blanket - Listed Value $129.00

My husband and I basically run on two very different body temperatures. He is the sort that thinks it is completely acceptable to leave the thermostat at 66 degrees while I like a nice 74 if I am home alone. I usually lose this battle, which means LOTS of blankets and throws. This one is on the lighter side of things, but it is still a great cozy layer that adds warmth without being heavy. We actually just adopted a little blind Pomeranian (it's a whole story) and he is a blanket king! He took to this one right away I think because of the lighter weight. He is only 5 lbs and can push this one around into his perfect little nest a lot easier than the heavier blankets. It is made out of 100% acrylic and super soft.

It is also quite large!

Jennifer Zeuner Allie Necklace - Listed Value $132 (similar here!)

Ahhh, the forever trendy herringbone necklace. It is always in style and always adds a chic little touch to any outfit. I have a bracelet version of this style and it is super easy and comfortable to wear. This one is really well made and subscribers can choose between a 14k gold plating or a silver plating. It also has an adjustable chain extender that allows it to be worn as small as about 16 inches or as long as about 18 inches. I really like that such a classic and minimal style was included this quarter because you can wear it day or night, layered or solo, and it always looks great. If it isn't your thing, it arrives in a great little pouch for regifting!

This is how it fits on the smallest size option on my neck.

The following two items are choice items:

JJ Winters Nikki Clutch - Listed Value $79 (find an alternative version here!)

This was the only piece this delivery that felt rather inexpensive to me. Sure, it is faux leather, but it just felt light and flimsier than I would have wanted. To put this in perspective though, unless anyone else is holding your purse, no one will notice. Because, visually, it's really great. The envelope style is sharp and classy, and the gold croc material is a good shade of gold: not too yellow, not too pale. You can wear this with nearly anything. I easily could fit my cellphone, wallet, and lipstick with room to spare.

This piece would likely shine more when paired with a holiday dress, but it isn't quite time for holiday parties and this Nike sweatshirt will have to do for now.

OR

Thirdlove Satin Robe - Listed Value $70 (similar, sized version here)

I am always super skeptical of a one-size item. For background, I wear a 12/14 right now and I can't imagine something fitting me that is also going to fit people both smaller and larger than I am. It is just a really hard thing to get right. This OS robe fits me pretty well, though I prefer mine looser, personally. I don't see this being super comfortable for many people over a 14/16. The fabric is 100% poly but the satin feels pretty weighty and very comfortable. As far as satin robes go, this one is nice! If you are comfortable with the sizing. I tried to measure it with a tape measure but the design of this one makes it hard for those measurements to feel like they are very helpful. Instead, here is a shot of me in it:

Verdict

This quarter's CURATEUR absolutely had some holiday vibes. And I thought the curation was nicely done! I loved the serum, necklace, mascara, and even the blanket. I think the second choice item between the clutch and the robe was a bit of a dud for me across both choices, but this was mostly due to quality and fit issues that other subscribers might care less about depending on how the robe fits or how they feel about the material of the purse. I think this box will delight loads of people though if they are treating themselves or using this box as a gifting opportunity.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

So has anyone actually received their Winter Box yet?? I thought I could use some of these as gifts, but glad I didn’t rely on it. I just text messaged Curateur to inquire on status. I bought my box 11/21. Though I’ve only bought single boxes since RZ BOS turned to Curateur, I haven’t ever had a great experience and this will influence me against subscribing annually.

I agree with you about the freebie.
I had wanted some items to be gifts as well.
Nothing free in the upcoming spring box either

I ordered November 14th and received mine on December 11th. I had picked the robe and silver necklace.

I ordered mine on Nov 15, received delay notice on Dec 10, and received shipping notice on Dec 29. UPS shows that is was received by them on Jan 3 and delivery should happen on Sat.

Purchased mine a few days after you and still have not gotten a shipping notice. They were supposed to give an update last week but haven’t heard anything. They said the clutch was holding the orders up but I ordered the robe. Hopefully, there is some kind of an update this week.

They finally replied back to me days later. They said they sent out a message early DEC about supply chain issues. I never received that email. The response was really vague but basically we’re all still on hold. I can’t believe they haven’t even reached out with another update even if things are still being delayed. It would be a good idea for them to throw in another freebie as a gesture of good will for all our patience. Or they could provide us with an update for free lol. A little communication goes a long way.

Paid for my box November 5th!! Still don’t have it and tomorrow is NYE. Very disappointed in this company. Every month another issue. Also all the things listed here are included if you are a VIP member. There was a choice between the robe or the clutch. This needs to be clarified on here under your review of the box. Not sure if I will continue with Curateur. Tired of all the ups and downs.

It is now december 27th & still have NOT received winter 2021 Curateur. Christmas is long over, what a complete disappointment. Many items were to be christmas gifts. I had to go out the eve of christmas 23rd during a MAD RUSH to buy gifts to replace the Items I had hoped to give for the holidays.

I haven’t received mine either and tomorrow is NYE. Pretty unbelievable. Very unprofessional

As a yearly member of the Curateur – still waiting for my winter 2021 edition & it is the 17th of december & no tracking yet in sight. Had hoped to give some of these as gifts for the holidays but doesn’t look like that can happen unless things happen fast. My fall 2021 box came absolutely smashed like an elephant sat on the box- however the contents were all ok including the candle. So far a bit Disappointed with this box. Hopefully things will turn around soon. & hoping the winter box arrives before christmas.

Same. No shipping. Very disappointed.

Yes! I came back to this post just to see if anyone was in the same boat. Made my selections on 11/6 an as of today it hasn’t even shipped yet. I was hoping to gift a few of these and, honestly, it’s the only reason I even elected into this box.

Did anyone sign up during Black Friday and get their box yet? I’m still waiting on mine and I’m super curious on what the “mystery gift with purchase” is

Is the clutch fake leather? From the company’s website, they made it seem that while it wasn’t real crocodile, it was still leather, so not fake leather. I would have bought the box if it was fake leather, so hoping it is fake and I can still get it. Let me know!

OMGosh!! Teddy is super adorbs! Please please tell us the story!!

That U Beauty product confounds me a bit because it contains three active ingredients (AHAs, vitamin C, and retinol) that I thought weren’t supposed to be used together. I mean if it works it works, but I personally like to keep those as separate applications.
That clutch looks like something I could find at Claire’s. The robe doesn’t look much better (where I come from, winter is cold). A thin, satin robe is just not going to cut it. I still love, however, the robe that came in the Sunday Riley subscription box (RIP?!).
Though this quarter didn’t overly impress me (kind of ho-hum), I do appreciate the review, Megan. Hoping Spring will bring something unique and out of the (subscription) box…NO ivory, NO purses/handbags of any kind (especially clutches), and please no bracelets. 😁

Thanks for the review, Megan. With the $45 off I caved and subscribed. I’m STOKED for the gold necklace and am looking forward to the blanket and mascara. Nothing in the second choice category appealed to me so I went with the robe because I think it’ll swap better. Question- in check out and on my confirmation email it says I qualified for a mystery gift (!!). Anyone have any idea what it is?

I got a ‘NUORI Lip Treat’. I always need extra help for my lips, but I’m not partial to this product. You need to use your finger to apply, it’s a rather nasty shade of brown and it comes right off.

NOT happy.

It’s the gold Eddie Borgo chain link necklace from last winter (I think that was the season)
