I have dry skin, a bald head, and I'm not getting any younger, so when the opportunity came up to give Get Mr. a try, I'd decided to give it a go. Get Mr. is a dermatologist-led, men's skincare brand founded to provide daily skincare products that look good and smell great so gentlemen can feel their best. A family-run company, Get Mr. developed medical-grade skincare products uniquely formulated for men. Ingredients include niacinamide for a non-alcohol aftershave, non-nano zinc for a natural sunscreen filter and plant stem cell extract for age defense. Products can be purchased a la carte or customers can "Subscribe & Save" to save on product orders - with re-order frequencies running from 1-3 months.
This is a first-time review of their men's skincare products.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
Get Mr.'s products come cleanly packaged and immediately relay the benefits and use cases for its product. They're neither overtly masculine or intimidating for someone who has never tried or considered a skincare routine before. I also really appreciated the welcome card with "Tips from Dr. G" and a thank you note for testing the product.
What's Inside this Box
The Daily 3-in-1 Face Lotion - Listed Value $39.99 (or $27.99 via Subscribe and Save)
Its signature product, The Daily 3-in-1 Face Lotion by Get Mr. is the first moisturizer and aftershave with mineral SPF all-in-one face lotion. Its "smart" ingredients include plant stem cell extract, niacinamide, lactobionic acid and antioxidants to moisturize and soothe irritated skin. It also contains Broad Spectrum 30 SPF for UV defense.
Following a few applications, there's a lot to like about the lotion. First off - the bottle is cool. I've never seen a twist-up top like this before. It's like opening a trap door. The lotion itself is not greasy at all, and contains a neutral scent that should bother no one. It's ultralight and, once applied, you forget it's there.
I've now used the face lotion on a daily basis for nearly two weeks. Am I seeing a noticeable change? Probably not, but I'm also not a dermatologist. I am enjoying the way my skin feels upon application - and that's good enough for me.
Get Mr. The Balm Lip Balm – Listed Value $8 (or $7.60 via Subscribe and Save)
If you've tried one balm, you've tried them all. At least that's how I feel. Is Get Mr.'s The Balm any different? I'd be lying if I said I could tell upon application. But it does feature an all-mineral moisturizer and UV defense. It purports to use the safest mineral ingredient available in zinc oxide - which sounds good to me - and eliminates any aftertaste.
Much like its moisturizing lotion, the Get Mr. lip balm is fragrance-free and feels very lightweight. I have nothing bad to say about this it. In fact, it's actually come in handy given the drop in temperature, and I expect that it will become greater an asset as we take the plunge into chapped lips season!
Verdict
Whether it's due to my bald head, dry skin, or just a general increase in age, I'm always open to trying and testing new skincare products. That said, where the products are specifically formulated for men - and by a dermatologist - giving Get Mr. a try was a no-brainer.
The packaging is strong yet welcoming. The products do the job they set out to accomplish. And while not the cheapest options out there, I feel the costs for these items are fair and worth a try (especially if interested in becoming a repeated, subscribe & save customer).
Can I explain the differences in formulas or understand the long-term effects of repeated use? No. But I believe in the importance of skincare, and I trust these products will lead to smoother, healthier skin.
