While Target no longer launches a beauty box every month, they still release curated sets from time to time under their "Target Beauty Capsule" brand. Every holiday season they release new sets, so when I saw they released a "Lips That Last" Best Of Box, I knew I needed to get it.

This is a review of the "Lips That Last" Target Beauty Capsule Beauty Box which is still available for purchase

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

This set comes packaged inside of a blue box that depicts pictures of the products on the front and ingredients on the back. Once you open it up, you find all of your lip products nestled securely into a plastic liner.

The Breakdown - What's Inside This Limited Edition Target Beauty Box

E.l.f Lip Exfoliator in Brown Sugar, 0.12 oz – Retail Value $4

Let’s start my review off with my favorite thing from the box- I’m kind of obsessed with this lip exfoliator from e.l.f. It has a really firm texture that allows it to be applied the way you would a lipstick, and I find it to be so much easier (and way less messy) than dipping my fingers into a jar of scrub. The brown sugar flavor is tasty, and my lips definitely get exfoliated. The formula means that this can sometimes be a little bit abrasive so I don’t need to use it every day, but it definitely gets my lips ready for lipstick. I could absolutely see myself repurchasing it when this runs out- especially since it’s only $4 (compared to the $13 for a jar of lush lip scrub that I usually buy).

Sonia Kashuk Lip Scrubber – Retail Value $5

I already have a lip tool that I use to get lip masks and balms out of jars without having to use my fingers, but I still think this is a truly awesome product to include in a curated set. Even though this is technically just a lip scrubber, I still was able to use it to grab some of my thick lip sleeping masks and massage it into my lips using the silicone nubs. If you hate sticking your fingers into lip balms, I think you’ll really like this.

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Origin Moisturizing Lip Balm in Beeswax, 0.15 oz – Retail Value $3.29

Okay, so I completely forgot that the classic beeswax lip balm from Burt’s Bees was made with peppermint- right after I applied it I thought to myself “why are my lips tingling.” Luckily, that peppermint zing was incredibly mild and didn’t irritate my lips, it was just unexpected. This is a clear lip balm made with beeswax and vitamin E, and it does what it’s supposed to do.

NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee, 0.15 oz - Estimated Value $2.78 (buy the 0.27 oz version for $4.99)

I think this is the only non-full size product in the set, and I find that to be pretty awesome. This butter gloss by Nyx was pretty solid. The pigment didn’t last super long on me, but it still left my lips feeling soft and buttery even after I could no longer see the pretty light pink color. I didn’t find this to be really sticky, either.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Tinted Lip Balm, 0.25 oz – Retail Value $1.99

Vaseline is such a classic, and I’ll never complain about getting it. This is great for when my lips feel dry and cracked, especially if I apply a lip treatment under it and then use Vaseline to seal everything. This looks rosy in the jar and allegedly has a tint, but it swatched clear on me. I don’t really think that’s a bad thing, because it makes it more versatile for me. This also allegedly has a light rose fragrance, but I also didn’t notice that, either.

Winky Lux Lip Oil In the Stars, 0.12 fl oz – Retail Value $18

This is fancy and I love it. While you can see pretty gold flakes through the clear tube, the lip gloss is completely clear. This is a thicker gloss that is maybe a touch sticky, but with that comes that feeling of my lips being coated and hugged that I personally really like. This is a fun brand, and I think that’s evident just by how they jazz up a clear lip gloss  (and yay for another full-size item!).

Pacifica Bali Coconut Vegan Lip Balm, 0.15 oz – Retail Value $4.99

I like the Pacifica brand, and this vegan and cruelty-free lip balm has a coconut flavor I personally enjoy. It’s formulated with coconut, almond, and jojoba oils, so it’s also super nourishing to my lips. This isn’t anything too fancy, but it’s definitely practical and useful. The packaging on this is really cute, too- who wouldn’t want their lip balm to call them pretty?

Jason Wu Beauty Hot Fluff in Apple Pie, 0.134 oz – Retail Value $11.99

Okay well, this is absolutely gorgeous. I remember there was a lot of hype surrounding the Jason Wu beauty launch, and the hot fluff was a hot item because you can use it on your eyes, lips, and cheeks. I don’t use lip products on my eyes for personal sanitary concerns, but if this isn’t a lipstick shade you’d reach for I am sure this would look awesome as a blush or eyeshadow (or create a monochromatic look using it on all three). Honestly, this is one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried. It wasn’t drying but still had the great staying power you want from a matte lipstick, and I only retouched my lipstick once throughout the entire workday.

Key Takeaways

I love these Target holiday sets- as I sit here to write this review I actually just placed a target order to grab a few of their sets because it was 30% off online today. Even if you grab them when they’re not further discounted, $15 for this set is a steal of a deal. It features so many full-size items and all of them were great quality products. My favorite would be the Jason Wu color stick, and that alone is worth almost the cost of the entire box. Most of the products come in their original packaging, too, so if you need to break up this set for some stocking stuffers no one will ever know. If you’re a fan of lip products, you need this set (I think I need to get it for my mom, actually).

One thing to note- I’m not sure how long this will last (I imagine supplies will run out before the deal ends), but Target Circle is offering 30% off of this set and their other beauty sets right now! That makes this set $10.49 pre-tax 🙂
