First Impressions
First thing I noticed was that this Bombay & Cedar box is the September box and it is December, and I thought, “I hope this isn't a fall theme.”
What's Inside The Box
The box arrives with a booklet of information that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within. September's theme was "Chill."
Bombay & Cedar Essential Oil Duo, Listed Value - $28
Every month, this box comes with an essential oil duo. This month, we received two 10 ml. bottles. The pink grapefruit is a very pleasant, bright citrus scent, while the cedarwood has a rich, earthy aroma that reminds me of a firepit. To be honest, I don’t use essential oils. I have exotic birds who are sensitive to scents, and I know that essential oils are unstable for applying to the skin or ingesting. I also can’t envision myself whipping out one of these bottles just to sniff, so I’m on the hunt for another way for me to use them. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them!
Butter & Me Strawberry Choco Scrub Bar, 3 oz - Listed Value $18
This is like the sexier distant cousin of a soap bar. I am not a soap bar kind of girl. If I have a choice, I prefer body wash or bath gel to a bar of soap any day (with the exception of the MegaBabe underarm detox bar, of course). But this product is also a body scrub, which intrigued me. It was a gentle, very fine exfoliant, and the pattern on the top of the bar created a delicate massage. My skin felt clean, soft, and fresh after use but not dry or stripped. The scent was a delightful, light cocoa scent that dissipated quickly. While this is probably not something I will reach for on the daily, it was fun to try.
Tom & Luke Lemon & Coconut Snackaballs, 70 g - Listed Value $2.99
I was so surprised at how tasty these were! I am always suspicious of ‘healthy’ treats. Like if I want cake, give me cake, not carrot cake… Never a vegetable cake, please! But these were like delicious little balls of lemon cookie dough! I ate the whole bag, and with all the good ingredients, I didn’t even think twice about it. Made gluten-free, vegan, and with no refined sugar, these snackaballs are a great alternative to the usual junk I snack on at the movies or in between Zoom meetings. I love the lemon flavor and found this snack to be pretty filling. I want a giant bag of these.
Tenn Prairie Match Holder w/ Striker, 1 pc - Listed Value $22
I don’t understand… Do people still use matches? And is it safe to have them just sitting out in a decorative holder?! I don’t know about that. I have one of those multi-use BIC lighters that I use for everything, and I can’t imagine going back to matches. Then again, I may be the wrong person to ask. Growing up I lived next to a meth house, and one day they were ‘cooking’ and burnt the house to the ground. Their flaming house and the screaming fire truck sirens were forever seared into my ten-year-old brain. As a result, I have become hyper-vigilant about fire safety, lol. Lighting a match on the striker was very easy. I noticed that the matches included with the set had a very strong sulfur scent that I wouldn’t call ‘pleasant,’ but they were easy to light and stayed lit until I blew them out. I feel like something like this would be ideal for people who enjoy incense or candles and enjoy the sleek, modern aesthetic of this match holder.
The Vintage Cosmetics Company Shower Cap and Headband Set, 2 pc - Listed Value $12.99
So cute. I love the vintage vibe of this adorable flamingo-themed shower cap and headband set. I really like how soft the elastic in the headband is. I hate when I pop on a headband to keep my hair out of my face while putting on my makeup, and the headband is so tight that it leaves an indent in my hair. I didn’t have that problem with this headband. It securely held my hair back from my face without having a death grip on my head. The shower cap is of course waterproof and of very good quality. I didn’t feel like it would rip or stretch out fast. I was, however, unable to easily fit all my hair into the shower cap. I am one of those people who has a lot of hair and a big head. I usually need to buy an extra-large shower cap, lol.
Compendium 17 Monthly Undated Planner, 1 pc - Listed Value - $29.95
I work three jobs and a side hustle, so I am always looking for more ways to stay organized and on top of things. This planner is undated, which I love. If I start off strong and then forget a day or two, I can just pick up right where I left off and not have to worry about getting confused with out-of-order dates. There are weekly and monthly calendars and lined pages that are perfect for notes. Another feature that I really love is the perforated corners at the top of each page that make it super easy to find your place without having to flip through the whole planner. Throughout the planner, there are bright pastel pages that feature inspirational quotes. I like to have that bit of positivity when I’m looking at all the things I need to get done. The book is sturdy, has a hardcover, and is cute but also incredibly functional.
Compendium Planner Stickers, 1 pc - Listed Value - $12.95
This book of elegantly designed stickers makes planning fun. There are stickers for everyday tasks, as well as unique designs and specialty gold foil stickers. I really like how these stickers and the planner were curated to complement each other. It definitely adds a whimsical element to planning out my week.
Verdict
This month’s Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box had the theme ‘Chill.’ The snackaballs, scrub bar, and shower cap, and headband set really gave me those vibes. The snackaballs were delicious and the scrub bar smelled delicious. I also really enjoyed the headband, and I appreciated the quality of the shower cap, even though it was a bit too small for my big hair and Blow Pop-sized head. The match holder makes me a little nervous, but I love the aesthetic and plan to re-gift this item to an incense-loving friend of mine. My favorite items in this month's box have to be the planner and planner stickers. I feel like just receiving this fabulous planner has already upped my productivity, and the stickers are a great motivator to stay organized. Lastly, every box comes with two high-quality essential oils. I haven’t yet found a use for the pink grapefruit and cedarwood oils, but I have joined a Facebook group that will hopefully guide me in some of the best safe ways to utilize essential oils. Overall, I think this was a strong box. A little late, but you know what they say; better late than never.
