First Impressions
Everything came packaged in a purple and white box, which matches the signature packaging of the Bumble and Bumble curl line. I love that the info booklet was tied with a bow- it made the unboxing process feel even more special.
Here's the information booklet with more details about the products inside.
What's Inside The Box
Curl Moisturizing Shampoo, 8.5 oz - Retail Value $31
I am a harsh judge of shampoos- I only shampoo my hair about once a week, so even if I find a shampoo I like I go through it pretty slowly. This one worked well for me! It’s made with a nourishing blend of avocado, coconut, and jojoba oils along with Shea and cocoa butter, and this didn’t dry out my hair the way many shampoos do. I still feel like my hair and scalp were clean after I was done using this, and I appreciate that this didn’t make my hair more tangled (another unfortunate problem I’ve had with some shampoos). I couldn’t use this and not follow up with a conditioner, but it wasn’t overly drying or stripping.
Curl 3-in-1 Conditioner, 6.7 oz - Retail Value $34
Sometimes I wonder if the people making curly hair products actually have curly hair- no curly-haired person I’ve ever spoken to would say that they need less shampoo than conditioner. The sizes of the two should honestly be switched. That aside, I liked this 3-in-1 conditioner even more than I expected it to. You can use it as a co-wash (which just means applying conditioner without shampooing it first, something I was doing way before I learned some brands made specific products and had a specific name for it), a rinse-out conditioner, or a leave-in. I tried it all three ways, and honestly, it worked well for me all three ways. This has the same nourishing blend of oils and butters as the shampoo, but it provided more than enough moisture when I used this after shampooing. It wasn’t overly heavy, but it did give my hair slip to help me detangle my curls. This wouldn’t replace my current leave-in conditioner, but it’s one of the best actual conditioners I’ve ever tried for curly hair- usually, I have to use deep conditioners or hair mask as a conditioner to be able to get my curls detangled, but this Bumble and Bumble one was more than adequate on its own.
Curl Defining Cream, 2 oz - Retail Value $16
This curl-defining cream has that same nourishing oil and butter blend, and it works to define, de-frizz, and give your curls shine while helping them to hold their shape. This didn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy whatsoever and I like that it also gives your hair UV protection. This didn’t feel like it weighed my hair down, either, which is an important factor for my hair.
Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil, 1 oz - Estimated Value $6.40 (buy the 5 oz version for $32)
This was an interesting product- it’s a very thin, lightweight gel that proves hold without making your curls crunchy or hard. Like the defining cream, this offers UV protection and the same oil and butter blend, and I like that this seemed to help my curls hold their shape without feeling like my hair was hard. I don’t usually use gels because it can make my hair more tangled and hard to comb at the end of the day, but that wasn’t an issue I had with this gel-oil.
Curl Reactivator, 2 oz - Retail Value $13
I wish we received a full-size of this- I have been getting a ton of use out of this. This hydrating mist works to refresh and reactive second-day (or third) curls that may have lost some of their springiness, and it adds a boost of moisture to your hair while bringing your curls back to life. Sometimes my curls get stretched out because I sleep with my hair up in a loose bun, and when using this I was able to get some of those elongated curls back to normal before scrunching some of the gel-oil into my hair to finish the job.
My curls really liked this product line- the proof is in the pictures! Here is my hair, dry, after using the shampoo, conditioner, defining cream, and gel oil. What do you think?
Verdict
This was my first time trying the curl line from Bumble and Bumble since they redid it, and boy did my hair enjoy it. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this box or the products other than I wish that the conditioner was the bigger size than the shampoo instead of vise versa. My curls enjoyed trying the products out, and I love that Glossybox did a curl-focused collab. Haircare products can be expensive- I love that other than the gel-oil everything is full or travel-sized, and this set is a great way to stock up on shampoo and conditioner if you have curly hair considering the entire box costs just one dollar more than the conditioner on its own (or if you're a GlossyBox subscriber, the conditioner alone retails for $4 more than what you would be paying for this box).
