Little Passports "Winter Glow Cottage" Individual Activity Kit Review
As soon as our calendar turns to November 1st, I am in complete Christmas mode. Up come the totes of decorations and lights, and our home is transformed into a poinsettia-filled oasis. My kids have followed suit in the festivities and are always looking for crafts and projects to create donning the holiday theme. This month we came across the "winter glow cottage" kit, and just couldn't wait to check it out. Read below to see just what kind of project this entailed.
Winter Glow Cottage Instruction Guide

The first item in this month's box was a well-designed and laid-out instruction manual for our cottage. With pictures and written instructions, it was almost impossible to do this incorrectly, and we found it very easy to follow. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when receiving this kit but found it a much quicker project than I initially thought and was impressed with its ease.

In our kit, we received eight pieces of colorfully decorated cardboard pieces, along with four sheets of stickers, a small light, and light patterns based on geographical locations.
The Assembly

Per the instructions, all we had to do was choose our design and use the stickers to create it on the backside of the cardboard. We chose the Germany and England Christmas tree for one side and the Turkish stocking for the other. Not following any instructions for the roof and sides, we added our own design and had a ton of fun doing it!

Once the designs were created, we easily followed the instructions and assembled the cottage. This literally took one minute, and our cottage was ready to light up. Adding our candle to the bottom we turned it on to see the magic. As you can see in the photo, the light wasn't very strong when it wasn't completely dark out, so we had to set it aside for a bit.

Once completely dark, you can really appreciate the magic of this glowing cottage. I love the look of the tree and stocking, and it is a perfect addition to our living room decor. The kids had a wonderful time creating this, and we will be able to enjoy it for many seasons to come.
Verdict
I have reviewed kits from Little Passports in the past, but I think this just might be my favorite one to date. Being easy, high quality, and fun, our family had a lovely little time decorating this together for our home. The end results were beautiful, and you can bet we've spent more than a few minutes sitting in the dark looking at this, as my 6-year-old is so proud. I did also appreciate the educational aspect of the holiday patterns based on other countries, adding a fun little twist to this holiday craft. This kit costs $24.95 + free shipping which seems a bit steep for cardboard pieces. I found the curation, educational aspect, and fun to be valuable in this kit, but wish they added another small project to help balance out the cost. What did you think of this activity?
