Christen Russo
ByChristen RussoDec 16, 2021 | 3 comments

Have you been following along with our monthly round-up of favorite items from the past month's subscription boxes? After a bit of a hiatus, monthly favorites have recently returned, and this month we're revamping how they look. Rather than splitting our faves up into four categories published as separate posts, they're all going to be celebrated in one spot. (Right here!) So, you'll see beauty, fashion, kids, food, and more subscription box picks all in this one post.

We're also adding a sister post each month: it's called Forever Faves, which will be a monthly round-up, but we'll be looking beyond what arrived in boxes in the most recent month. It'll explore items that have stood the test of time, be it a few months or a few years. Be sure to check out November's Forever Faves post!

Jessica's Picks

opened clear lip serum

The Item: Fitglow Beauty Night Lip Serum

The Cost: $48

From: Beauty Heroes x FitGlow Beauty LE Box

Why I love it: This has been a really trendy brand on Instagram lately, so I was excited to try this Night lip serum from Fitglow beauty. The formula has ceramides, collagen, shea butter, cocoa butter, and pomegranate sterols to nourish and condition your lips while improving their overall appearance. I have to be very diligent about using lip treatments every night to keep my lips from getting painful cracks, and I have been loving this. And since it provides a soft shine, I also love wearing it during the day, too.

plate of thanksgiving food

The Item: Blue Apron Thanksgiving Box

The Cost: $99.99

From: Blue Apron

Why I love it: I had never done a meal kit for a holiday before, but now that I have done it once I would absolutely do it again. Not only was the food really tasty (genuinely those may be some of the best mashed potatoes I have ever had), it made everything so much easier. I love cooking, but sometimes it is just overwhelming to plan meals, figure out what ingredients I need, grocery shop for all of them, time the cooking just right, and then have a meal at the end I even have energy to eat. By getting a Blue Apron thanksgiving box, everything I needed was delivered to my door the Tuesday before the holiday, I didn’t have to step foot into the grocery store, and I just had to follow their easy instructions while enjoying my thanksgiving wine.

Front of Ghoul Fools Hoodie for Bikini Bottom Box Fall 2021

The Item: Ghoul Fools Hoodie

The Cost: n/a

From: The Bikini Bottom Box

Why I love it: This Ghoul Fools hoodie is an homage to a SpongeBob Squarepants episode featuring the ghostly Flying Dutchman and his nemesis, Lord Poltergeist. The color scheme gives me those eerie glow-in-the-dark vibes, and I’m here for it. On the back of the hoodie is imagery that resembles a poster for an old-school horror film. What impressed me about this hoodie was that even though it feels lightweight in your hands, it has no problem locking in heat. I have to say, the inside fleece lining has really done a solid job keeping me toasty and warm in the recent chillier weather as I’ve traveled across multiple states.

Front of Evolue Hydrating Serum for Nourish Beauty Box November 2021

The Item: Evolue: Hydrating Serum

The Cost: $68

From: Nourish Beauty Box

ACTIVE DEAL: Sign up for emails to get 20% off your first box. No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why I love it: This serum is lightweight and supremely hydrating. This was my second bottle received in a subscription, and I couldn’t have been happier. My skin always feels hydrated, soft, and buoyant every time I use this product. Over time I have noticed an evening out of my overall skin tone. It’s easy and refreshing to apply, doesn’t leave behind any sticky or greasy residue, and absorbs super quickly into my skin. It is one of the few hyaluronic acid serums that is gentle enough for my sensitive skin.

Nicole's Pick

The Item: Norris V Neck Midi Dress by Adorned

The Cost: $65

From: Dia & Co

Why I love it: This dress fits like an absolute dream! The fabric is perfect for wearing all year, cut is superb, and I love the elastic waistline– it gives so much definition. In winter, I can wear it with tights, boots, and a coatigan. In the summer, I can wear this beauty with embellished sandals, sunglasses, and a larged brimmed hat. I absolutely love the chartreuse/mustard yellow shade too!

Becca's Pick

The Item: Color Sparx Watercolor Powder

The Cost: $18.00 for a pack of 3

From: SketchBox

ACTIVE DEAL: Save $5 off your first box!
CODE: SKETCH5

Why I love it: My overall favorite item this month was quite random. Because I am a sucker for watercolor, SketchBox was my pick, but the item I was most excited by was the Color Sparx Watercolor Powder. Completely new to me, this pomegranate hued powder can be mixed with water, or sprinkled on to create a blooming effect, and boy did it bloom! Almost creating a dandelion going to seed look, this blended so nicely with the green that I just couldn’t get enough of it.

Megan's Picks

The Item: Jennifer Zeuner Allie Necklace

The Cost: $132

From: CURATEUR

ACTIVE DEAL: Limited Time Only! $50 off the annual subscription
CODE: MSA50

Why I love it: Its such a classic necklace that goes with anything! And the craftsmanship is pretty awesome. I also found that, though I am metal sensitive, this one didn’t bother me at all and hasn’t turned me green. Win-win!

The Item: Savage X Fenty “Leather Tease” Set (see bra here)

The Cost: $64.90 with a membership

From: Savage X Fenty

Why I love it: I mean, I never saw myself as a pleather underwear sort of gal, but something about this set makes me really happy and extremely confident. I like to wear the bralette especially under an oversized sweatshirt out and about, feeling like I have a superhero costume on secretly at the grocery store. It’s a whole vibe.

The Item: Whamisa Organic Flowers Toner Deep Rich

The Cost: buy a full size 155 mL oz for $43.00

From: Allure Beauty Box

Why I love it: I love essence toners like this and found this one was super calming and made my skin feel super soft. Sure, I wish the sample has been bigger, but this was still a great discovery moment for me.

The Item: Glossier Monochrome Eyeshadow Palettes

The Cost: $22

From: Glossier

Why I love it: This is minimal makeup at its very finest. Easy, flattering, chic. I bought two very different shades and I am in love with both of them, day and night!

The Item: JustFab Cozy Lounge Robe

The Cost: Retail Value $67.95, VIP Cost $46.95

From: JustFab

ACTIVE DEAL: Get your first pair of shoes for $10! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why I love it: This robe is soooo soft and cozy! It has been perfect for throwing on during these cold winter mornings. It is nice and long, has a tie, and pockets, plus since I sized up, it even fits (mostly) over my big third trimester baby bump! I am also stoked that I got it on sale which makes it an even better deal! I highly recommend this robe if you want something super soft and cozy to keep you warm while lounging comfortably at home.

The Item: Noodle Knockout Game by Learning Resources

The Cost: Retail Value $19.99

From: Sensory Theraplay

Why I love it: This game is so much fun and simple enough to use with any age. I am already a big fan of the quality of Learning Resources toys and my family loves to play games, so this was sure to be a hit. I love that my little guy can practice his fine motor skills while my 5-year-old can work on following the instructions on each menu card, but then the whole family can get a little friendly competition going as we try to see who can build their noodle bowl first! It’s a cute and versatile game with brightly colored pieces that appealed to all of my kiddos!

The Item: DIY Stenciled Book Holder

The Cost: $29.95

From: Maker Crate

Why I love it: I had a tough time picking my overall favorite item I received this month, but I had to go with this stenciled book holder because I’m pretty proud of how it turned out! The build was very easy and thanks to the detailed directions and quality materials, it was simple enough to get my stencil design on there as well. I had fun making this and I love the end result, especially the fact that it is useful and practical!

Christen's Pick: Lollia Dream Dry Body Oil

Dream Dry Body Oil from Margot Elena Fall 2021

Item Cost: $46

From: Margot Elena Discovery Box

ACTIVE DEAL: Limited Time Only! Get 10% off a minimum $45 purchase for new subscriptions!
CODE: MSA10

Why I love it: This body oil is my new favorite way to quench my dry skin now that our heat is on. My skin has been drinking it right up, leaving a grease-free moisture. But my favorite part is the subtle scent that offers a whisper of warmer-weather nostalgia.

Sanna's Picks

Image via Short Stories.

The Item: Short Stories Black & White Bowl Set

The Cost: $39 (currently out of stock)

From: FabFitFun

Why I love it: I feel like bowls are something you’ll always appreciate receiving because different sizes all have their own perfect use. I knew these bowls were pretty small but I was impressed by the high quality of these ceramic beauties. I love the patterns, they feel sturdy to hold and have a shiny, high-gloss glaze. I’m actually glad they’re smaller because they’re the perfect snack bowls when you’re trying to be good. I’m going to use the middle one for olives, the smallest one for the pits and the biggest bowl for a sensible serving of chips.

Image via Armoire.

The Item: French Connection Half-Zip Wool Blend Knit Sweater

The Cost: $148

From: Armoire

ACTIVE DEAL: Get $30 OFF 1 month of the 7-item plan OR 50% OFF 1 month of the unlimited plan.
CODE: 7MSA89 or MSAUNLIMITED50

Why I love it: I’ve been seeing this trend of half-zip sweaters around and I’m glad I was able to try it out with Armoire. I love this sweater! It’s so cozy and easy to wear with anything. I’ve been wearing it around the house basically everyday and it looks great under coats when I step outside because the collar and extra long sleeves pokes out. It’s a great neutral but the pattern and the half zip detail keeps it from being too boring.

Sanna subscribes to Armoire on her own, but check out our details page here. See more reviews by Sanna!

Abby's Pick: Crescent Moon Rainbow Maker

Item Listed Value: $22

From: Goddess Provisions

ACTIVE DEAL: Use code MSA10 for 10% off your entire order (min. purchase of $25 USD required).
CODE: MSA10

Why I love it: I've been looking for a cute suncatcher to cheer up my house in the winter, so I was psyched to receive this purple crystal and moon. I love how the pop of color helps it stand out from your everyday clear crystals.

The Item: PURE’AM Authentic Barrier Cream Balm

The Cost: $17.00

From: Kinder Beauty Box

Why I love it: I've been between moisturizers, and I was having a really hard time getting my skin acclimated to the changing seasons when this cream found me. It isn't thick or greasy, and it hydrates like a dream. I can't get enough of this unscented skin food, and I am already considering ordering a full -ized tube.

I did not get that body oil in my Margot Elena box. I hope they aren’t going to ruin their subscription with box variations and that this was a one time occurrence due to supply chain issues. I definitely would have preferred that to receiving two of the same product like the body wash or the hand creams.

Hey, BB! The oil is from the Fall box (which I reviewed in September). My Winter box came in December and since this was a pre-December favorites list I popped it in here. Come to think of it, that was probably really confusing. I’m sorry! Right there with you on the double body wash & numerous hand cremes in the Winter box!

Oh! Thanks for clarifying! I still enjoyed the box, I just feel it could be tweaked a little bit. Hopefully they listen to feedback and give us more variety/a hero item for the next go around.
