Vegancuts is a snack subscription box that delivers delicious vegan snacks, drinks, and treats to your doorstep every month. Every month, the box highlights different brands and flavors, following an overarching theme. From chips and sparkling water to cookies and gummies, Vegancuts opens the door to a whole new world of vegan snacks you probably don't know (yet!). Ah, and on top of that, your subscription supports an animal sanctuary in the United States each month.

This review is for the Snack Box, $24.95 per month.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

I love how the new boxes look and feel, much more modern and exciting. But, I've noticed two things from this month's box that felt a bit disappointing:

1) The box ALWAYS arrives late. While Vegancuts says you might receive the box the first week of the following month, it would be nice to receive my November box, well, in November!

2) A quick glance at this month's box, and I immediately noticed not one but two products from previous boxes. Since Vegancuts doesn't allow you to provide feedback on your snacks or even customize your box, repeating snacks quickly makes it less exciting.

Still, all the good things like the cards talking about the products and the animal sanctuary they're helping this month are there. So, let's dig in deeper and see what this box was all about.

What's Inside The Box

Seed-Based Pumpkin Spice Rice Crispy Treat – $17.99 for an 18-pack

If you could wrap all the flavors we associate with fall, it will be in this treat. As a sugar-lover, I adored the sprinkled brown sugar on the top. This treat is a unique blend of your favorite cinnamon bun with a soft rice crispy. I think it's great to have these kinds of allergy-friendly options around the house. You might see me cutting these up and serving them on a platter during the holidays – I might take the credit for making these (or not).

Salted Caramel Snackballs – $22 for an 8-pack

First of all, I'm not a big fan of snack balls. However, these were quite a surprise! Made with dates and cashews, I didn't think I would enjoy the texture of these ones. However, everything is ground up so well that they feel very smooth, almost like a paste. Funny enough, I had some friends over, so we all tried them. The verdict? Out of four, only two liked them. While I wouldn't eat the whole pack, which comes with five snack balls, I can see myself having these around my desk to curb my sweet cravings.

I received TWO of these in this box. Vegancuts says they include three bonus snacks for subscribers this month to ring in the holiday cheer.

Premium Date Syrup – $8.99 for 1 bottle

This one was unexpected since it isn't a snack or a beverage. But, once I saw the teas (more on that later), it made sense. This is an excellent substitute for your sugar or honey. I used it for my coffee in the morning, and I tried a tea with this. It isn't utterly sweet, but a little bit goes a long way. You can probably bake with this syrup, and the result will be a rich, sweet but balanced flavor.

Chamomile Mint Tea – $13.99 for a 15-pack & Turmeric Ashwagandha Tea – $11.99 for a 15-pack

Vegancut always includes one or two beverages in their boxes, and this month we got teabags! While I'm a coffee lover, I love to sip on tea in the afternoon. This chamomile mint tea was a delight. You can definitely feel the lemongrass notes and citrusy flavors behind the mint. I've tried other chamomile teas, but this one had a more natural taste. I will definitely order a box or two of this one.

The turmeric one was really funny to see because I usually make my own mix of turmeric and ashwagandha tea. So, I had high expectations from this tea! The tea is balanced and tasty, probably thanks to the lemongrass leaf there. If you're not a fan of turmeric or ashwagandha, I strongly suggest adding a drop of the date syrup from this box and a splash of lemon. For a holiday drink, throw in some nutmeg and cinnamon, and you'll get the ultimate wellness tea.

Chips Wavy Sea Salt – $3.79 per bag

I'm not going to lie; these were disappointing. All of the snacks before were innovative and different, these were not. There's nothing wrong with these. Don't get me wrong; they're perfectly fine potato chips. But that was it. I think I was expecting a bit more for a vegan subscription box.

Vanilla Bean Coconut Cookie – $25.95 for a 4-pack

WOW. This tiny cookie was quite a surprise. Fun fact about me, I lived in Venezuela for most of my life, and we have a treat called "cocadas," which are basically cookies made of coconut flakes with condensed milk and flour. These coconut cookies reminded me of that and transported me straight to my childhood. They're like a soft-baked cookie with decadent coconut flavor and a hint of vanilla on the background. The card says it has freshly ground almonds, and you can definitely taste the almond in there too. My inner child was thriving with these, and I'm already placing an order to keep these around my house.

Hydration Berry Balancing Electrolyte Mix – $20.99 for 14-packets

I'm usually not a fan of electrolyte drinks because they feel too sugary and synthetic. While these don't taste like natural berry juice, they aren't utterly sweet either. I was shocked to see they have no added sugar, making them even better. I loved the slight berry taste and drank a whole bottle of water without getting bored or annoyed at the flavor. Great to have around for road trips or outdoor adventures.

Mixed Berry Soft Baked Biscuit – $14.97 for 1 pack (currently sold out)

We received one of these biscuits last time. This month, we're getting a whole box. Here's what I had to say (and still believe) about these cookies in my October 2021 review:

While I don't know if I'd call these biscuits, these mixed berry cookies were definitely a treat. It had just the right amount of berries and nuts to feel wholesome, with the perfect soft-baked texture that makes them gooey and delicious. Nothing too crazy here, just a delightful soft-baked cookie.

Sea Salt Wrapped Cashews – $24.99 for a 12-pack

While I prefer to receive new snacks in every box, I was glad to see these ones come back. These cashews were in the first Vegancuts box I reviewed. They're super nutty and have a hint of salt to curb any cravings. I really love these cashews, and I'll probably buy the packs or their jar to keep around. If you can, compare them to regular skinless cashews so you can see the difference.

Chicory Herbal Coffee – $12.99 for 1 packet

I was really excited about this one until I realized it wasn't coffee. This was part of Vegancut's all-time favorites they chose to include in this box. While there's some slight coffee flavor to it, I'd say this tastes more like black tea than coffee. I'm sure for someone looking for caffeine-free alternatives, this could work. However, for me, this was a big no-no in terms of flavor, purpose, and overall experience.

The Verdict

This month's theme was "a celebration of the taste, scents, and textures of the season." To be honest, I feel the snack selection of this box fell short of delivering on that idea. I felt disappointed to see some repeated items like the snack balls and the soft-baked cookies. I wish these were part of the bonus treats we received, which in my case included the chickpea chips we received last time. Also, this was the first box that had so many drink options! I don't consider drinks snacks, which is why they throw me off a little bit. But overall, some of these (I'm obviously talking about the coconut cookie) are winners, and others (the sea salt chips) are not.
